Eton was already awake.
“Did you sleep well, Eton?”
“Yes.”
“Weren’t you scared all by yourself?”
“I just…”
“Just?”
“…I missed you.”
Eton’s plump lips moved slightly. After saying this, he bowed his head shyly, seemingly embarrassed.
“I missed you lots too,” Sez hugged Eton as she spoke, “I missed you so much that I ran straight here as soon as I woke up, didn’t I?”
“Really…?”
“Really.”
Hugged by Sez, the child laughed shyly. Eton was a remarkably well-behaved child. The “terrible twos” stage had never applied to him at all. He seldom cried or threw tantrums, nor was he rash with his words. He was surprisingly polite and good-natured for his age. Every time Sez looked at him, her heart ached.
“Mommy... I’ll be such a good child... So please... don’t kill me...”
