Rain lashed against Boston Harbor hard enough to blur the city skyline into silver and black smears.

The convoy tore through the industrial district at reckless speed.

SUV engines roared.

Tires screamed across soaked pavement.

Sirens echoed somewhere in the distance.

Inside the lead vehicle, tension sat so thick it felt alive.

Anthony Morrison was shaking beside the door.

Not dramatic shaking.

Not manipulative trembling.

Real fear.

The kind that hollowed people out from the inside.

Blood still streaked down the side of his face from the warehouse fight while his hands twisted together hard enough to turn his knuckles white.

Across from him, Theo watched quietly.

That somehow made Anthony more nervous.

Because Theo smiling was dangerous.

Theo going quiet?

Terrifying.

Anthony swallowed hard and looked toward Lucian in the front passenger seat.

"You really think they'll keep her alive?"

Lucian didn't turn around.

"Yes."

Anthony blinked.

"That confident?"
