Mrs. Maxwell smiled at Mrs. Gladstone's surprised expression.
"My brother's son," she explained. "Nathan Harrington."
At the mention of the name, Mrs. Gladstone's eyes widened slightly.
The Harrington family was one of the well-established families in the city, known for their influence in both business and social circles. Nathan was the only son of Mrs. Maxwell's elder brother, Richard Harrington, and at twenty-eight, he was only a few years older than Isabella.
"Nathan is single?" Mrs. Gladstone asked. After all, given his family background, he should be engaged to someone by now.
Mrs. Maxwell nodded. "Yes. He's returning next week after spending several months overseas. I've been thinking about introducing the two of you for a while now."
She looked between Isabella and Mrs. Gladstone with a pleased smile.
"You're both young, well-mannered, and from respectable families. I think you would make a good match."
