Kevin's office was as quiet as usual. He sat behind his desk, his attention fixed on the documents before him. The afternoon sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a pale glow across the room.
A knock sounded.
"Come in."
The door opened, and Andy stepped inside, "Sir."
Kevin lifted his eyes.
"Sheldon Goodman is here. He says he wants to see you."
Kevin's expression remained unchanged. For a moment, he said nothing. Then he placed the document in his hand on the desk.
"Let him in."
Andy nodded, turned, and left. A few moments later, Sheldon walked into the office.
Unlike his usual composed self, there was a trace of urgency in his eyes. He walked over and took a seat.
"Kevin."
Kevin leaned back in his chair, studying him calmly, "Uncle."
The single word sounded polite, yet there was no warmth behind it. Sheldon clenched his jaw. He hated how this nephew of his acted like he was smarter than everyone else.
"My daughter is sick."
