Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Home of Nothing

They work on it for a while. They had different runes to choose from, but it had been given three. The first was an endless or giant inside. The second was so it could follow, they had no idea how. And the third was [Stalwart], they hoped by carving the runes for [Stalwart], it would get it.

Lesser had asked them for some blood, they questioned him, he hoped the blood mix would have the same effects, when he had made that flaming branch. At some point the Spell had stopped speaking to Lesser about the flaming trees, he did not notice. They agreed, but it was Lee that was having the hardest time cutting himself.

Lesser began to carve the runes, his mind clear, the sound of rain falling. Clarity was all that remained. They look at him, their gaze how it turns out. The [Stalwart Chisel] moved, sharp and clean. Slowly it formed, the first runes were carved in the chest, next was placed under. The third was placed on the back, and on the front he had carved a symbol. It was a four leaf clover, and in the middle of it he had caved a place for a shard. He slowly placed the shards right under the runes and the blood mix had been placed when he had caved the runes.

He closes the lid. It was done. They look at it, waiting. It was done, but it did nothing. Lesser's face had gone through a lot of emotions, finally losing it.

"Dammet, why did it not work?!"

They looked at him, not surprised, they too were disappointed it did nothing. Lee wanted to calm down Lesser, but had no word to speak. Mary looked at it, finding something, but did not speak. It was Adam spoke.

"Calm Down, Your Fool!"

His voice was calm and loud. Lesser Stop moving, he had not moved around and just spined around, because the cave was not big enough to move in. After calming down, he looked at them.

"So it fails, huh."

He looked down not wanting to have his embarrassed face show. Adam began to look closely at the chest, he saw the font, looking up and meeting Mary's smug face. 'Do you see it?'. He did not like her.

"You saw it first, you say it."

"Why do?"

Adam did not like her. Her smug face was making him angry.

'By the dead gods, please, not now, please!'

Lee saw it all, their faces, Lesser's embarrassed face that he was failing to hide. Adams' annoying to slow anger face, and Mary's smug but sacred face. She was trying to hide it, and it was amazing how she hid it, but Lee had grown up with people that had a hard time showing emotions.

"Lesser, they find something."

Lesser look up, still embarrassed. Adam froze, Mary shuddered, and Lee questions Lesser gender. It took a second for Mary to speak, now pink.

"Yes, there is ah… an extra rune here."

She pointed down to the corner of the chest. Lesser look at it, one rune, 'Home'. Lesser saw that he had missed. He wondered how and why he had carved it. When he carved it, he did not know. Thinking back, he had one thought, when making it, he had no home to return to. Before carving, he had maybe wondered what he wanted it to be, no, he had known. He had nothing of his own, and was left over from his brother. Darik was tall, strong and kind. He leaver left things ongoing, when Lesser was born, he was only 10. Lesser was the failure in the family, the one wanted, but Darik was the only one that saw him, but when the nightmare spell hit him. 'He was always nowhere to be seen.'.

Lesser had carved a rune for home on it, hoping that he could get one, one day.

Now that he remembered carving it, he was even more embarrassed now. Adam and Lee did not see his face as they turned dame around, and Mary was even redder.

"So why did you carve home on it?"

Mary only asked for them to get out of this. The silence was there, no rain dropping. The rain had passed them now, only leaving a wet land. There was some light, but not much.

"I was an unwanted kid, so I hope that this could make me have, a step closer to having my own home."

The carving for the rune for home had no blood and no meaning. He began to carve more to it, speaking more.

"I was never wanted, my older brother was something my parents wanted to be, but I was never good at sports, fighting, learning. When my little sister was born, they did not have to make it clear that they wanted only two, one boy and one girl."

The carvings began to form more clearer, more rough.

"They never said a thing when I was affected by the 'Spell'. Never even dropping me off. I had to walk there myself. They spoke like I was not in the room, never hiding the truths."

Tears began to drop, the runes more rougher, more desires in them.

"My nightmare was a paradise compared to my family."

Now looking up at the ceiling. Tears falling down, a creepy smile over his face.

"I was an apprentice to an old man, he was a sculptor for the town he lived in. He died leaving me alone with a slave that was always dissing me."

Lesser thinking back at that, the slave was always dissing him in the shadows, like he was scared to the found..

"One day a walking sculpture or statue had entered the old workshop. I was in a bad mind set, so I had fallen in love with how it works. I tried many times. I gave up on my third time making a sculpture. So I broke it with my teacher's mallet, then the slave–"

The slave standing in the light, her smug face looking at him. She was saying, something. 'I don't remember.'.

"–had entered, hoping to break me, and then–"

Her face, it was gone, blood everywhere. Her body lying on the stone floor, but why was she smiling at him, before dying.

"–I took the bloody mallet and hit the living sculptures."

He was quiet, trying to open his mouth. Now the runes were all over that corner and spreading. They listened to him. Now calm, and not wanting to interrupt his story.

"The funny thing about the Living sculpture was that it was broken. Dropping from it were diamond colored stings. It looked like it came from a small battle, it was carrying some tools. A big pike was struck on. I hit it many times, it died, that is how I completed my nightmare."

He dropped the [Stalwart Chisel] to the ground, the runes were everywhere. Small sparks began to fly up. It then dissipated, the Spell spoke.

They look at where the chest was. not saying a thing, how could they. Lesser was crying.
