Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Aeris Has No Resistance to This Kind of Thing

Back in Aeris's universe…

Aeris got out of bed looking refreshed and full of energy.

"Mmm the weather's nice"

The white-haired little slacker stretched lazily, then went to wash up.

After that, Aeris started her usual morning run. Honestly, she felt like days like this were pretty good. Of course, once she finished running, she had originally planned to go to Bulma's place to return the Dragon Radar and mooch a meal while she was at it.

Aeris rubbed her hands together like a fly.

Still, that was just wishful thinking.

She didn't actually have time for that today. She still needed to go buy some things, so she couldn't waste time shamelessly going over there just to freeload food.

Ever since coming to Earth, she had definitely gotten lazier.

If she kept letting herself slide like this, she was going to end up useless.

There was a lot she needed to buy today too. She absolutely had to get a few new training outfits. She didn't have that many of that kind of clothing to begin with, so it was necessary.

Once she made up her mind, Aeris set off immediately.

She jogged there instead of flying, figuring that by the time she reached the clothing stores, it would also be about time to eat.

That way, she could get some training in and save time.

Two birds with one stone.

Aeris acted the second the thought came to her and headed out at a light run. Since she was already wearing sportswear, there was no need to change first. Once she bought new clothes, she could just switch directly into them.

After jogging for about two hours, she reached the area where she wanted to shop for clothes. She picked out a dozen or so loose, exercise-friendly outfits, paid for them, and had the store staff deliver everything to her villa.

And where would they put it?

Come on.

Places like that obviously had designated spots for receiving deliveries. It wasn't like everyone involved was stupid.

After buying the clothes, Aeris went into a nearby restaurant to eat.

Granted, she might have eaten just a tiny bit more than normal.

Aeris ate while humming to herself, but that leisurely little moment was ruined by a phone call.

A very deadly phone call.

Bulma called and summoned her over.

Aeris hung up with a deeply resentful expression, quickly finished her meal, and then used Instant Transmission to head straight to Bulma's place.

The moment she arrived, she stared at Bulma with a face full of grievance, like Bulma had just cheated her out of millions.

Bulma looked confused.

"Why are you making that face?"

Aeris answered immediately.

"You tell me. I was happily eating, enjoying my food, and then one phone call from you dragged me over here. I was planning to savor it slowly…"

And after saying that, she kept staring at Bulma with that same aggrieved little look.

Bulma felt a little awkward.

Aeris was great in almost every way, but when it came to food, she was ridiculously stubborn.

Still, that wasn't a real problem.

"Alright, alright. I'll make it up to you later, okay? But first, help me with an experiment."

Only then did Aeris's expression improve a little.

"Fine. But I'm telling you now, I want lots and lots of delicious food. If I go hungry, I'm not forgiving you."

Then she turned her head away with a tsundere huff.

Bulma smiled helplessly. "Alright, alright. Eat as much as you want, okay?"

What else was she supposed to do?

All she could do was coax her.

Bulma pulled Aeris over to a huge machine and told her to go inside.

Aeris stepped in with a completely confused face, then looked back at Bulma with eyes that were very clearly asking, What the hell is this thing?

"This is a machine that tests reaction speed. It hasn't been fully tested yet, so I need you to help me with it. Can you?"

Aeris looked like she wanted to say, Don't do this to me. I can't handle it.

Because honestly, when Bulma acted cute or seriously asked her for help, Aeris had basically no resistance at all.

She was almost the type to agree to anything.

The moment Bulma saw Aeris give in, she happily ran off to start the machine.

"You have to dodge, okay? No counterattacking, no tanking the hits, nothing like that. Otherwise the machine won't have any testing value."

Bulma reminded her more than once.

She knew how strong Aeris was, stronger than even Goku, so she had to keep repeating it.

Aeris could only sigh and do as she was told, trying her best to dodge instead of blasting the attacks away with ki or anything else.

After all, to her, these attacks were barely more than tickling.

The machine's mechanisms started launching more and more attacks, and they became denser and denser with time.

At first, Aeris could still rely purely on her physical reactions to avoid them.

Later on, though, she started using her ki sense to predict and dodge.

By the end, the attacks were so dense that she had no choice but to use ki to speed herself up.

Aeris held out for about six hours before the machine finally managed to hit her.

Bulma wasn't surprised in the slightest.

Aeris was just that strong.

When Aeris came back out, she actually looked a little dissatisfied, like she wanted to go again.

Because even if the machine wasn't that useful in a real sense, if she forced herself to dodge only with her eyes and body, without relying on ki sense or enhancing herself, then it was actually a pretty good tool.

After all, her ki wasn't infinite.

There could always come a moment when she ran out.

And if that happened, she would have to rely on her body and raw reactions alone.

Aeris couldn't help admiring Bulma's imagination a little. To come up with something like this…

Didn't that mean she could use it later to seriously train her reaction speed?

Bulma instantly saw through what Aeris was thinking.

"Stop right there with those unrealistic ideas. This machine is still only in the testing phase. If you want the finished version, you'll have to wait."

Aeris wasn't disappointed after hearing that.

If anything, she was getting excited about it.

"Then it's a promise, Bulma. When it's done, I get to test it first. And it'd be even better if you add some attack methods in there too. The kind that hit out of nowhere."

Bulma nodded slightly. "That can be considered. For someone like you, attacks on that level won't really matter, but as part of the test, it does sound worth adding."

After saying that, she went back to adjusting the machine and stopped paying attention to Aeris's nonstop chatter beside her.

Once Aeris saw how focused Bulma was, she stopped trying to talk to her and just quietly watched her operate the instruments.

In the end, though, she got bored and fell asleep on the side.

When Bulma finally finished the work in front of her, she turned and saw Aeris passed out like that.

A helpless smile appeared on her face.

Then she went to find a blanket and gently covered her up.

"You really are an idiot… but then again, that's just because you're you, Aeris…"

After saying that, she lightly flicked Aeris's nose.

The next day…

Aeris got out of bed in a daze.

Why was she in bed?

Because later on, Bulma had carried her there.

What did you think happened?

Aeris looked around at the familiar room, slightly confused. Had she really slept that deeply last night? Someone had moved her to a bed and she hadn't even noticed.

Then again, it seemed like this only happened when she was at Bulma's place.

Anywhere else?

Try getting close to her and see what happens.

Try it and you might just die on the spot.

A slap backed by over a billion in battle power was definitely not something to joke about.

Aeris stopped overthinking it, got out of bed, and walked out of the room.

The first thing she saw was Bulma in a white lab coat.

Aeris immediately thought, Yeah. I could work with this.

Ahem.

Alright, fine.

That was a personal problem.

She admitted it.

"You're awake?"

Bulma looked at Aeris's freshly-risen, messy-haired self and found it kind of funny.

The funniest part was that Aeris had a ridiculous little cowlick sticking up on her head.

Of course, Aeris had no idea.

"Since you're up, go wash up and eat. There's vanilla pudding today. Your favorite."

The moment she heard vanilla pudding, Aeris's eyes lit up.

Then she rushed off to wash up at once.

Because that was absolutely her favorite thing.
