Chapter 2 - Learning Magic

As Satya grew older, he started realizing the peculiarities of this new life.

[When I was about 10,

My emotional state had become like that of a child.

I play, laugh, and cry just like a child.

I enjoy games, and I have started to learn that a child's imagination is many times greater than that of an adult.

They can imagine anything in their playful manner

So, a child's imagination is limitless, and I have started to feel that imagination.

And I have learned many things from secretly listening to adults' conversations and children's gossip.

No matter how far it may be from the truth, this is a magical world so there should be some knowledge about magic, That's why I have collected as much knowledge as I can.

There is no such thing as a school in this world, and I have heard the adults say that too much knowledge is forbidden.

I don't know what to make of it.]

Satya's life continued in such a manner till one day his father approached him

[Because there are no such things as schools in this world so parents have to teach their children everything. And my father told me that he will teach me magic in a few days.

the magic of this world is really odd.

Everyone in this world can use magic, and there is no such thing as mana here.

But there are incantations in this world.

But even then, they are not like the flashy magic I have read about in books.

It is the most fundamental magic,

like lighting wood on fire.

They first gather wood and then light it on fire using an incantation.

They are strictly prohibited from teaching these incantations until they think we are ready enough.

But my father, Ra, said that he will teach me in a few days, so I can't wait for that time.]

[After rummaging through the village chief's office when he was out, I gained much knowledge about the world's geography.

This is a village located in the county of Suvarna.

This county is divided into three parts:

the rice fields bordering the great river,

"Jivana";

the woodlands bordering the evergreen forest,

"Amarvan";

and finally, the wheat fields bordering the other two counties,

"Gahana" and "Raktadhuli."

Our county, Suvarna, is called that because of the golden glow of wheat we can see all year round here.

Our county is the main crop producer of the state of "Urvara."

And this Urvara is a state of the kingdom

"Agnivardha."

There are two main kingdoms in this world:

"Agnivardha" and "Chandraketu."

The great river divides the two kingdoms, and both kingdoms are surrounded by the evergreen forest.

I obtained this precious information after searching through the village chief's house.]

throughout the years, Satya had started to fall in love with this life.

No modern problems,

no hidden currents of society,

no expectations—

just farming.

Eat well and sleep well.

To some, this is a dream life.

But to Satya, it feels like something is missing,

just as he had felt in my original life.

But the feeling here is almost nonexistent.

And because there is nothing to do except play, eat, and sleep,

[I have started to ponder a lot of things

And as such, I have started to understand the love of a father.

The love of a father is no less than the love of a mother, except they are given in different ways.

The love of a mother is gentle, caring, and soft, just like that of a cloud,

while the father's love is harsh and full of lessons.

He may be harsh to you, but he is showing you how to survive in this cruel world.

Even if the father teaches you through pain, it is he who feels more pain seeing you hurt.

But to survive the harsh realities of this world, you have to learn how to get through that pain.]

Both the love of a father and a mother are just like life,

because in life, there are ups and downs.

But every situation, whether good or bad, teaches you lessons.

So you should take these life lessons as you would the teachings of your parents.

The good times are the teachings of the mother,

while the harsh times are the teachings of the father.

But it is your choice how you choose to view them.

The only thing that matters is your attitude toward them.

Life is like this.

There may be failures in it, but that doesn't mean you stop trying.

Take failures as teachings.

So, if a person is going through harsh times,

should he cry about it endlessly,

or carry the burden of that pain throughout his life?

Every pain is a lesson, so I am not telling you to carry it as a burden;

I am telling you to carry it as a lesson.

For without pain, life is not complete.

For good and bad times coexist to make life what it is.

"Pahal, it's time to teach you how to use magic now."

said Ra.

Satya couldn't hide his excitement at finally learning magic

"You see these logs, imagine them on fire"

Tasked Ra.

"Huh.. How do I imagine them on fire?"

Asked Satya.

"Just imagine a fire on these logs."

"I will try"

"Now say the words,

'Kasthagni,'"

Ra instructed.

"'Kasthagni,'"

Satya said while imagining the fire...

Nothing happened.

"Why didn't it work?"

asked Satya.

"To bend reality and perform magic,

you have to cast your imagination into the spell with all of your willpower to resist reality,"

Ra explained.

"Father, can you demonstrate it for me?"

Satya asked.

"Sure...

'Kasthagni,'"

Ra said.

Suddenly, Reality rippled and a small fire started on the wood.

But it was small and livid, like it was not real.

It seemed as though it was being extinguished and erased from existence by something;

it was like reality itself was resisting it.

The fire was very unstable.

It only stabilized after the actual wood had caught fire. After that, Ra fell down on the ground in exhaustion.

"Father!"

Satya shouted in worry and went to check on him.

"Son, this happened because I wanted you to see that even magic has its limits.

These were wet wood logs in the middle of snow; that's why the fire required me to use all of my willpower to create it.

If these were dry logs in a warm and dry place,

it would require only a sliver of effort from me,"

Ra explained.

"Now go and practice it daily until you get the hang of it,"

Ra instructed Satya.

On this eventful snowy field,

my emotions were flowing like the cold wind.

So I put them into words and unconsciously recited a poem:

{The silver wind flows through the world,

Leaving behind the trail of a white waterfall.

My whole presence shakes,

Just being in the presence of such boundlessness.}
