Chapter 68 - Departure Lines

Scene 1: A Different Kind of Morning

"Pack light."

Ayaan's voice cut through the office like a rule, not a suggestion.

Kriti froze mid-step.

"…Define light."

Aditya didn't even look at her.

"Not your entire personality in a suitcase."

Kriti:

"That's impossible. My personality needs space."

Aditya:

"So does logic. Try packing that first."

She glared at him.

"I'm going to ignore you for this trip."

Aditya:

"That won't last two hours."

Kriti:

"Two hours is growth."

Scene 2: The Announcement

Anaya closed her laptop.

"Client expansion meeting. Two days."

Simple.

Clear.

Mahi nodded.

Ishaan was already prepared.

Ayaan picked up the file.

"We leave in thirty minutes."

No delay.

No drama.

Except—

Kriti.

"…Thirty minutes?!"

Aditya stood up calmly.

"You've had two days."

Kriti:

"I used those two days emotionally."

Aditya:

"That explains nothing."

Scene 3: On the Way

The car ride was quieter than usual.

Kriti sat by the window—

watching everything like it was her first trip ever.

"This feels important," she whispered.

Aditya:

"It's work."

Kriti:

"Emotionally important."

Aditya:

"You're emotionally unstable."

Kriti:

"I'm evolving."

In the front—

Ayaan drove.

Anaya sat beside him.

No unnecessary conversation.

But the silence—

wasn't empty.

It was aware.

Scene 4: The Small Shift

Halfway through the drive—

Anaya checked something on her phone.

Paused.

Then said—

"The client confirmed attendance."

Ayaan nodded.

"Good."

A pause.

Then—

without looking at her—

"Any changes?"

Anaya glanced at him.

"No."

Another pause.

Then—

quieter—

"Everything's clear."

Ayaan nodded once.

But something about the exchange—

felt more than just work.

Scene 5: Arrival

The hotel lobby was clean.

Quiet.

Structured.

Ayaan handled the check-in.

Rooms were assigned quickly.

"Same floor," he said.

No explanation.

But everyone understood.

Scene 6: Kriti's Crisis

Kriti opened her room door.

Then immediately came back out.

"…Why is this so quiet?"

Aditya:

"It's a hotel."

Kriti:

"I don't trust quiet places."

Aditya:

"They don't trust you either."

Kriti:

"I feel judged."

Aditya:

"You should."

Scene 7: Parallel Calm

Later—

everyone settled.

Mahi stood near the window.

Ishaan entered quietly.

"Meeting schedule confirmed," he said.

Mahi nodded.

Then—

after a pause—

"You don't mind traveling?"

Ishaan:

"It's efficient."

Mahi smiled slightly.

"You're always efficient."

A pause.

Then—

unexpectedly—

"You're different outside the office."

Ishaan looked at her.

"…So are you."

Silence.

But not uncomfortable.

Scene 8: Ayaan & Anaya — Corridor Moment

That evening—

Anaya stepped into the corridor.

Ayaan was already there.

Looking at something on his phone.

She stopped.

"…You didn't take a break."

Ayaan:

"Neither did you."

A pause.

Then she stepped closer.

"You don't always say what you think."

Ayaan looked at her.

For a second—

longer than usual.

Then—

calmly—

"Not everything needs to be said."

Silence.

But this time—

it stayed between them.

Not heavy.

But not simple either.

LScene 9: Interrupted (Of Course)

"Kritiiiiiii!"

The voice echoed.

Kriti appeared at the end of the corridor.

"…WHY is my room light blinking??"

Aditya followed behind her.

"It's a switch."

Kriti:

"It's suspicious."

Aditya:

"You're suspicious."

Kriti:

"I refuse to sleep in a blinking environment."

Ayaan looked away slightly.

Anaya exhaled softly.

And just like that—

the moment ended.

Final Scene

Night settled over the city.

Lights dim.

Noise faded.

Rooms closed.

But not everything rested.

Ayaan stood by the window.

Thinking.

Not about work.

For once.

Across the corridor—

Anaya stood still.

Quiet.

Aware.

And somewhere between them—

something was growing.

Unspoken.

But no longer invisible.
