Chapter 33 - Hidden Names, Loud Silence

Scene 1: The Offer

The room was quiet.

Mahi stood near the table, her hands resting lightly on a notebook.

Ayaan was across from her, calm as always.

"I'm offering you a position," Ayaan said.

Simple.

Direct.

Mahi looked at him.

"What kind of position?"

"Creative work," he replied. "My office needs content direction. Strategy. Writing structure."

Mahi didn't respond immediately.

Her fingers tightened slightly on the notebook.

After a pause, she said:

"I don't want that."

Kriti, sitting nearby, looked up.

"What? That sounds like money."

Mahi ignored her.

Ayaan didn't react sharply.

"Why?"

Mahi answered clearly:

"I don't want to reveal myself."

Silence.

Kriti blinked.

"…Reveal yourself?"

Mahi didn't correct her.

She didn't need to.

Ayaan's expression stayed steady.

Then he said:

"If you don't grow here, I'll send you to your grandparents. For stability."

Kriti turned instantly.

"WHAT?? That's like emotional blackmail!"

Ayaan looked at her.

"Responsibility."

Mahi exhaled slowly.

Then said:

"…Fine."

Ayaan:

"Fine what."

Mahi:

"I'll do it. But no one knows it's me."

Ayaan nodded once.

"Agreed."

Scene 2: A Slight Change in Mahi

The next day.

Mahi stood outside the café office.

Different energy.

Not loud.

Not shy.

Just… present.

Anaya noticed it first.

"You're walking differently today."

Mahi smiled slightly.

"I decided I should stop disappearing."

Anaya raised an eyebrow.

"That sounds dangerous."

Mahi replied softly:

"Only a little."

It wasn't a big change.

But it was enough.

Scene 3: Ayaan's Office World

At the office, things were moving fast.

Employees were talking.

A new wave of interns had joined.

And among them—

attention followed Anaya everywhere she went.

She didn't encourage it.

She didn't reject it loudly either.

She simply worked.

But people noticed her.

Too much.

Scene 4: Quiet Jealousy

Ayaan walked through the corridor.

He saw it.

Without stopping.

Without reacting.

A group of boys were talking near Anaya.

Smiling too much.

Talking too freely.

Anaya remained polite.

Professional.

But distant.

Still—

Ayaan didn't like it.

He said nothing.

But his steps slowed.

Scene 5: Late Work

Night came.

Office lights dimmed.

Most people left.

Anaya stayed back.

Finishing her work.

Focused.

Tired.

Finally, she stood up.

Closed her file.

And left.

Outside—

the street was quieter.

A small group of boys stood near the exit.

Waiting too casually.

"Long day?" one of them asked.

Anaya nodded slightly.

"Yes."

"You should relax sometime. We're going for a drink."

She paused.

Polite but firm.

"No, thank you."

They didn't move away immediately.

Scene 6: Ayaan Appears

A voice interrupted.

Calm.

Controlled.

"She's leaving."

All heads turned.

Ayaan stood a few steps away.

Hands in his pocket.

Expression unreadable.

The boys shifted slightly.

One of them asked:

"Excuse me?"

Ayaan replied simply:

"She's not available."

Silence followed.

Anaya looked at him.

Just briefly.

No dramatic reaction.

But something in her expression changed.

The boys stepped back.

Not arguing.

Not pushing.

Just leaving.

Scene 7: Walking Home

Anaya and Ayaan walked side by side.

No rush.

No noise.

After a few steps, Anaya spoke:

"You didn't have to say that."

Ayaan replied:

"They were wasting time."

Anaya smiled slightly.

"That's your explanation for everything."

Ayaan didn't respond.

A pause.

Then Anaya added:

"You looked different today."

Ayaan:

"How."

Anaya:

"Less controlled."

Silence again.

Back at the house.

Kriti was sitting dramatically on the sofa.

Mahi was nearby, more relaxed than before.

"I think I'm being emotionally attacked by this house," Kriti said.

Mahi replied:

"You're just bored."

Kriti sat up.

"I met someone today."

Mahi looked at her.

"…That sounds dangerous."

Kriti continued:

"That professor."

Mahi blinked.

"Aditya?"

Kriti nodded quickly.

"Very annoying."

Mahi:

"You've said that three times already."

Kriti:

"It's because it's true."

But she didn't stop smiling.

Scene 8: Ending

Elsewhere—

Ayaan stood alone for a moment.

Thinking.

Not deeply.

Just quietly.

Anaya walked ahead.

Normal pace.

And behind them—

Kriti kept talking.

Mahi kept changing.

Aditya had entered the picture.

And nothing—

was simple anymore.
