Chapter 2
Who understands this kind of family life?
Here I am in the Marvel universe, and I just picked up Homelander. And now he wants to follow me home.
Guan Fuyun's mouth twitched.
No wonder the kid was so quick to call him "Dad." A little warmth and he bloomed like sunshine. A bit of emotional support and he was already shouting "Daddy."
Turns out he was genuinely starved for affection.
That single "Dad" carried real weight. The little brat meant it from the bottom of his heart.
To that, Guan Fuyun could only say—
Fuck!
This world was even more absurd than he had imagined.
It had actually fused with elements from The Boys. And Homelander, the undisputed protagonist of that series, was basically a low-budget Superman without the biological force field.
He possessed a whole host of superpowers: super senses, super strength, super speed, X-ray vision, heat vision, lie detection, and most importantly — an extremely durable super body.
Right now, he looked about 8 years old, but his mental age was probably closer to 3… maybe even 2.
Yet that gentle hug earlier could have easily crushed an adult woman's spine. His flight speed could break the sound barrier. He could throw a baseball from New York all the way to Boston.
Including nuclear bombs, no known human weapon could kill him.
He was ridiculously overpowered.
And here's the thing — even though this kid had Superman-level powers, he didn't have Superman's mentality. He had been raised in a lab and artificially given the personality of a giant infant. He was a product.
Just now, if Guan Fuyun hadn't hugged him in time and the Abomination had actually provoked the boy, it was hard to say who would have won the fight. But one thing was certain: Homelander would have killed far more people than the Abomination.
Sigh.
Why is it that when other people become dads, they get to pick up Clark Kent… while I only get Homelander?
Wait — actually, no!
Being Superman's dad required high moral standards, self-sacrifice, and the willingness to hide your son even if it put you in danger. If you ever did anything bad, Superman and his little friends would eventually "hero" you to death.
But being Homelander's dad…
If you ran into even the slightest trouble, he could slaughter his way through the entire White House, then casually ask if you wanted a hand-ground coffee afterward.
How nice is that? How refreshingly human.
This was exactly the kind of big son he wanted!
In this absurd world, Guan Fuyun had already adapted to local customs. He no longer saw killing as a big deal — especially when it came to super-criminals who were repeatedly caught, repeatedly escaped, and kept committing atrocities. It was honestly hilarious.
The only issue was that Homelander killed too casually and too messily. But that was fine. It could be corrected through proper education.
He just needed to patiently teach the boy: it's not enough to just kill people — you also need to burn the evidence and destroy the bodies properly.
Besides!
With this kind of strength and speed, the current Homelander would be an absolute beast at farming. Cleaning, tidying, daily chores… one kid could do the work of a hundred people. So convenient.
"Whether you're called John or Homelander," Guan Fuyun said gently, "those names only represent a part of your past life. Looking at how you lower your head in shame, that past doesn't seem very glorious."
"So, if you don't want to be trapped by it, then from now on, consider yourself reborn."
"From today, I'll call you Azu (Little Ancestor)."
Guan Fuyun's lips curved into a smile, amused by his own idea. "And if you really need a nickname, you can be 'Lao Xiang Ren' — it sounds warmer and more familiar."
"!"
Hearing this, Homelander's head snapped up. His small face was serious, shocked, and filled with joy — like a primitive savage seeing fire for the first time.
The street was still in ruins. Flames still raged. Smoke filled the sky and screams echoed everywhere.
He had his super hearing cranked to maximum.
Yet the whole world didn't feel noisy at all.
Because he could only hear Guan Fuyun's voice — and that voice was genuinely happy and sincere.
It made Homelander feel incredibly safe.
This was the emotion called "having a dad," blooming inside his heart and turning into pure happiness.
Azu. Lao Xiang Ren. These were the names his dad had given him.
[Ding!] [Congratulations, Host! You have successfully adopted Child No.1: Azu.] [Reward: One Farm] [Located on the outskirts of New York City. 200 acres. All legal documents included. You may claim it at any time.]
Nice. This reward was exactly what he needed.
"Let's go take a look at our new home."
Boom! Boom! Boom!
In the distance, the Hulk finally arrived late and began brawling with the Abomination. The chaos was starting up again.
More and more agents from this nation of spies and special forces were pouring into the area.
Guan Fuyun took Azu's small hand and followed the system's guidance as they left the scene.
"!"
The moment the large hand held the small one, Azu's entire body trembled.
His eyes lit up brightly — almost shooting lasers by accident.
But he held it back desperately.
The long-awaited "dad" had finally come. It made him ecstatic, but also anxious and insecure.
His superhuman intellect made him overthink everything, while his childlike mental age made him constantly mess up.
He was terrified of disappointing his new father.
Full of eagerness to perform, Azu asked proactively: "A lot of people here are hurt. Should we save them?"
When saving people, there should always be media and reporters nearby. You have to smile. You have to say with a righteous face: "And you, my friend, are the real hero."
These were all lessons the company had taught him.
Now, it seemed like a chance to show off and earn his dad's praise?
"No need," Guan Fuyun replied firmly.
"B-But I'm really strong! Dad, I have superpowers! I can go beat that ugly guy. As long as it's what you want, I'll do anything!"
Azu grew anxious and blurted out his feelings, his eyes glowing red with heat.
"In this world, having superpowers is a very good thing," Guan Fuyun said as he gently patted Azu's head. After thinking for a moment, he continued:
"It means you're a genius."
"You have the power to become a superhero."
"But as your 'father', I don't want you to become one of those thankless heroes."
"Being a hero will ruin your life."
"Instead, your powers and talents should be used to help you live a better life."
"The most important thing is that you live happily and joyfully. I don't care about other people's lives or deaths."
"On the contrary…"
"If you get hurt or get into trouble because you're playing hero, I'll be very unhappy."
After all, those other people don't call him "Dad."
That was what Guan Fuyun truly thought — and exactly what he said out loud.
[Ding!] [Child No.1 Azu's gratitude toward the host has skyrocketed!] [70%… 80%… 90%] [Reward: 10,000 points.]
[Ding!] [System Shop has been unlocked!] [Seeds, breeding pigs, farming tools, weapons, super soldier serum, Infinity Gauntlet…] [You can purchase anything here.]
Damn, this was actually pretty good.
Everyday necessities could be bought with very few points — extremely convenient and cost-effective.
As for the Infinity Gauntlet? That cost 500,000 points.
Higher up were various divine artifacts, Infinity Stones, Celestial bodies, and so on.
All kinds of luxury items.
But there was no need to buy those. When the time came, he could just "zero-dollar purchase" them. Authentic and guaranteed.
The real big spender for daily points would be the cultivation entry draws at 20,000 points each.
[Ding!] [Gratitude reached 90%. Additional reward: One Cultivation Entry draw.] [Would you like to use it?]
"Yes," Guan Fuyun said in his mind.
[Ding!] [Congratulations on obtaining the Cultivation Entry: "Sunshine Radiance."] [Sunshine Radiance: Grow stronger by basking in sunlight, but easily become thirsty. Must drink dairy products to quench thirst.]
