Wanqing's pov
By the time I reached the receiving room, my thoughts had settled down. I couldn't hear the voices of servants whispering, so I just had to deal with this and return back to my room. Come to think of it, why the heck is Anyuan here?
I stopped in front of the door, smoothening the wrinkles on my dress more out of habit than a necessity. I stared up at the door with a blank look on my face, I didn't want to go in.
But what choice do I have?
The guard stationed outside the room bowed slightly and said, "Young miss."
I have a small nod in acknowledgement. Without another word, I placed my hand on the door and slid it open.
I took one step into the room, allowing the door to slide shut behind me.
The room was darker than the corridor outside, which meant they had drawn the curtain to shield them from the afternoon sun. My eyes had barely adjusted to the sudden darkness when I caught someone moving from the corner of my eye.
