Evil. Absolutely evil!
No wonder the Azure Dragon had sensed an extremely faint trace of evil coming from this human.
Immune to Dragon-type attacks.
Able to counter Dragon-types.
It could only be described as the natural enemy of Dragon-types!
What kind of evil power was this?!
Even as a lawful good divine dragon, the Azure Dragon was shocked and furious at this moment. What it felt was a fear rooted in the deepest instincts of life itself.
Yes—even gods were not truly invincible beings.
They too were affected by type advantages and disadvantages. In fact, because both sides were gods capable of commanding the winds and rain, those relationships could become even more amplified.
For the Azure Dragon, who wielded the Authorities of Wood and Dragon, the Authority of Ice was its natural enemy.
If struck by Ice-type attacks, it would suffer heavily amplified damage, and its defenses would become exceptionally fragile.
Fortunately, this only affected the defensive side. As long as it could avoid being hit, much of the disadvantage could be mitigated.
The Azure Dragon's own attacks could still function normally. Ice deities would not resist its power.
But Fairy was different.
It was immune.
If a Fairy deity ever appeared and fought the Azure Dragon, one of the two Authorities it wielded would effectively be erased on the spot.
Its Dragon Authority might as well not exist.
It would be forced to rely solely on its Wood Authority.
For a Mythical Pet Beast that wielded Authorities, that was an enormous weakening.
And that wasn't all.
The opponent could even exploit the Dragon power within the Azure Dragon itself to deal super-effective damage against it—
You can hit me, but I can't hit you back?
Too evil!
Such a power should never be allowed to exist in this world!
This was the natural enemy of all dragonkind!
Had it been an evil dragon, it would already be rampaging by now.
But the Azure Dragon was a lawful good divine dragon.
Though furious, it had not lost its reason, nor would it take its anger out on others.
After all, there was no point in doing so. This power hadn't been created by humans. Even without this particular human, Fairies would still appear all the same.
Just as the sun would still rise every day.
This was a force beyond anyone's control.
And so, the angrier the Azure Dragon became, the more nowhere it had to vent that anger.
The Qilin was sitting right beside it, and it still had to maintain its dignity as an elder. It couldn't embarrass itself too badly.
With all that frustration bottled up inside its chest and no way to release it, it charged into the shipping container and began furiously pouring alcohol down its throat, trying to drink itself unconscious.
As for whether that was even possible...
Don't ask.
The answer was depressing.
To be honest, the Azure Dragon's reaction actually diluted the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling's own emotions.
So what if Dragon-type attacks didn't work?
Didn't it still have Light powers?
And if that wasn't enough, it still had its underlings!
Inky already recognized it as the boss. When the time came, couldn't it just send Inky to fight the Fairies?
Uncle Dragon was making way too big a fuss over this.
Jiang Xing stopped both the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling and the Auspicious Cloud Qilin, preventing them from disturbing the heartbroken Azure Dragon.
Instead, he waited for a while.
Once he felt that the shock brought by the Fairy attribute had mostly passed and that the Azure Dragon had probably calmed down somewhat...
Only then did he stand up and walk into the container.
Inside, the Azure Dragon was sprawled out by itself, drinking in silence, looking thoroughly drunk.
After thinking for a moment, Jiang Xing spoke.
"Actually, I have an idea."
The Azure Dragon didn't respond. It continued contemplating dragon life.
Jiang Xing didn't mind and continued.
"Based on my investigations, Fairy power doesn't seem to exist in the Beast Taming World."
"It also doesn't appear to have existed in the other world where you once lived."
"It seems to be a completely new attribute born from the collision of the two worlds."
"So for a very long time, it may never become an actual Authority."
"No corresponding Mythical Pet Beast will be born."
The Azure Dragon's gaze shifted slightly.
Its drinking slowed considerably.
Its reaction had been far more intense than the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling's, not because its mental fortitude was weaker.
It was simply because it was stronger and could perceive far more things—
That foolish little dragon didn't even realize there was already a Fairy living in its own home, yet it could still laugh and play around.
Just like the Qilin.
Nothing more than a pair of clueless children.
By the time a Pet Beast reached the Mythical level, the situation was much like that of a top researcher.
What mattered was no longer knowing what it countered, but why it countered it.
From the faint traces of Fairy energy lingering around Jiang Xing, the Azure Dragon could already sense that this was indeed a form of power born specifically to oppose Dragon-types.
It was as if the heavens themselves had grown dissatisfied with dragons standing so high above all others.
And so this power had been created for one purpose:
To drag dragonkind down from its divine pedestal.
What the Azure Dragon sensed was something that even a Mythical Pet Beast could not resist—the will of heaven itself.
That was what reminded it of the war of annihilation between the Supreme Gods that had taken place in the other world centuries ago.
That was the real reason for its despair.
But by now, it had gradually calmed down.
Jiang Xing's words had helped considerably.
That was right.
Although Fairies had been born, the Fairy God had not.
As long as no Mythical-level Fairy existed, the Azure Dragon had nothing to fear.
And even among Mythical beings, there were distinctions: low-tier Mythicals, mid-tier Mythicals, and high-tier Mythicals.
As a high-tier Mythical itself, the Azure Dragon had little reason to worry about low-tier or mid-tier Mythicals.
Only a high-tier Fairy God would truly qualify as its natural enemy.
Thinking about it that way, it relaxed considerably.
Then, at that very moment—
Jiang Xing's next sentence made it shoot into the air.
"So, if Fairies have no god, why can't you become the Fairy God?"
"ROAR?!" (Me? Become the Fairy God?)
The Azure Dragon thought the kid had finally lost his mind.
It was the God of Dragons.
And Fairies were the natural enemies of dragons.
Yet Jiang Xing was suggesting that it become the god of its own natural enemy?!
"Why is that impossible?" Jiang Xing said.
"There are already precedents for this."
"Metal-types are immune to Poison-type damage and are natural enemies of Poison-types, yet dual Metal-Poison Pet Beasts still exist."
"Dark-types are immune to mental attacks and are natural enemies of Psychic-types, yet dual Dark-Psychic Pet Beasts also exist."
"Even Water and Fire can coexist within the same Pet Beast."
"So why can't Dragon and Fairy coexist as well?"
Jiang Xing wasn't making things up.
Every one of those Pet Beasts was recorded in the Pet Beast Compendium.
In the Beast Taming World, there were virtually no attribute combinations that were truly impossible.
The combinations that hadn't appeared simply involved attributes that were too rare. There weren't enough Pet Beasts possessing them in the first place.
Besides, Jiang Xing also knew that in the Pokémon world, a Dragon-Fairy combination already existed.
That was the species known as the "traitor to dragonkind"—
Altaria.
If such a thing could exist there, why couldn't the Beast Taming World have a similar Pet Beast?
So...
"Let's betray the Dragon attribute!"
"If you can't beat them, join them!"
Jiang Xing thought about it for a moment and decided that didn't sound quite right, so he rephrased it.
"Before a Fairy God is born, you should be the one to try wielding both Dragon and Fairy Authorities at the same time!"
"You should infiltrate the enemy from within, seize control of their power, and become the God of Fairies and Dragons alike!"
Infiltrate the Fairies and become the Fairy God?
The Azure Dragon's reason told it that such a thing should be impossible.
Yet its heart began pounding.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
As though heaven and earth themselves were beating war drums.
If this was truly a brand-new power...
If no god in either world had ever laid claim to this Authority...
Then why couldn't it be the first to tear off a piece for itself?
Authorities were not exclusive.
Wood, Metal, Water, Fire, Earth—each had multiple gods sharing them.
The Azure Dragon had no ambitions of monopolizing Fairy Authority.
As long as it could claim a portion of that power and eliminate its fatal weakness...
Wouldn't that be enough?
"You're not afraid to even try, are you?"
A simple and straightforward provocation.
Yet it became the final step laid before the Azure Dragon.
Its golden dragon eyes blazed to life like twin suns.
"ROAR!" (I am the Azure Dragon—God of Wood, Dragon... and Fairy!)
