Unit Conversion (Length, Weight, Temperature, Volume)

Explanation of Numerical Units in the Book

The vast majority of units mentioned in D&D are imperial (e.g., Feet, Inches, etc.). For the sake of reading convenience, the book does not frequently use terms like "British feet," but it still refers to the imperial unit of Feet rather than the Chi (Ruler). Please do not confuse them.

Additionally, the following are some common units in D&D and their conversion ratios with other units. They will appear throughout the book. If you have doubts about the units, you can check this page to quickly confirm them:

Units of Length

1 foot = 12 inches

1 mile ≈ 5280 feet

1 foot ≈ 0.3048 meters (1 meter ≈ 3 feet 3.37 inches)

1 inch ≈ 2.54 centimeters (1 centimeter ≈ 0.3937 inches)

1 mile ≈ 1.6093 kilometers (1 kilometer ≈ 0.6214 miles)

(Note: All "feet," "inches," and "miles" mentioned throughout the book are imperial units.)

Units of Weight

1 pound = 16 ounces

1 pound ≈ 453.59 grams (1 kilogram ≈ 2.204 pounds)

1 ounce ≈ 28.35 grams (1 kilogram ≈ 35.274 ounces)

(Note: All "pounds" mentioned throughout the book are imperial units.)

Units of Temperature

y degrees Fahrenheit (°F) = 32 + x degrees Celsius (°C) × 1.8

y degrees Celsius (°C) = (x degrees Fahrenheit (°F) - 32) ÷ 1.8

Units of Volume

1 cubic foot ≈ 2.832 cubic decimeters = 0.02832 cubic meters (1 cubic meter ≈ 35.3147 cubic feet)

1 gallon ≈ 3.79 liters (1 liter ≈ 0.264 gallons)

1 liquid pint ≈ 0.473 liters (1 liter ≈ 2.113 liquid pints)

1 dry pint ≈ 0.550 liters (1 liter ≈ 1.816 dry pints)

(Note: All "pints" mentioned throughout the book are US customary units, not imperial units.)

Currency

1 gold piece (gp) = 10 silver pieces (sp) = 100 copper pieces (cp)

1 gold piece (gp) = 2 electrum pieces (ep)

1 platinum piece (pp) = 10 gold pieces (gp)
