Hajin stepped into the fortified sparring basin and studied the three training dummies Orin set thirty paces apart.
Orin stood at the center of the ring, holding a wicker basket filled with small, dyed chalk pellets.
"The test is simple enough, my lord," the veteran scout instructor announced, tossing a red pellet between his palms.
"Three target dummies equipped with resonance bells, thirty paces apart, with twenty pellets incoming from blind angles."
"If any pellet leaves a mark on your tunic, or a bell rings out of sequence, the drill resets."
Hajin stood at the edge of the perimeter with his hands loose at his sides, nodding toward his summons.
"Juna, you take the left flank," he instructed, his gaze fixed on the three timber dummies across the field.
"Loccy, anchor the center and prepare to collapse their footing the moment the first volley launches."
"Leave the left dummy to my daggers, Master!" Juna called out, her three separate divine wings fanning wide.
