Chapter 69 - Chapter 69: Sword Tomb

I Have An Infinite Cultivation Resource

Chapter 69: Sword Tomb

The Sword Tomb was also within the Verdant Cloud Sect. Outsiders would be blocked by the sect's protective mountain formation.

Fortunately, Lu You was already an outer disciple. The spirit token used to open his courtyard essentially functioned as an identity pass. With it, the protective formation wouldn't be triggered, allowing him to enter freely. However, when he sensed a strand of spiritual energy sweep across his token, alarm bells rang in his mind. In the future, he would have to be even more cautious—he might even need to prepare multiple tokens and avoid using his own. Luckily, his recent actions had all taken place within the Verdant Cloud Sect and had been controlled through Evil Eye. Otherwise, he might have left behind some trace.

The Sword Tomb wasn't a restricted area. There were no guards, no supervision, and no rules preventing disciples from entering. Lu You stopped hiding his presence and walked in openly.

Inside, the tomb was filled with low graves and shrubs. At night, a thin mist lingered in the air. Lu You activated a Divine Eye Talisman to broaden his field of view and began searching for his senior sister.

By a small stream, Zeng Yan pushed open the crooked door of a small wooden hut and sighed.

She had already consumed three Foundation Establishment Pills. Because she wanted to break through quickly and leave more pills for Lu You, each one she used added another layer of invisible pressure.

Without a sword at hand, Zeng Yan picked up a tree branch and began practicing by the stream, hoping to relieve the pressure in her heart.

Crack

A dry branch snapped in the forest. Zeng Yan instantly turned, using the branch as a sword and pointing it toward the woods.

"Who's there? Come out."

In that instant, her aura changed completely—like a coiled venomous snake ready to strike. Spiritual energy surged through the branch, resembling the flickering tongue of a serpent. At this moment, Zeng Yan was fully prepared to kill whoever was in the forest, with no intention of holding back.

"Junior Sister, it's me." Bai Zihua stepped out from the trees, carrying a food box in his left hand while his right rested on the hilt of his sword.

"No need to worry, Junior Sister. Just focus on your cultivation—I've been guarding you all along," Bai Zihua said, sighing when he saw the killing intent around her. "I know you're concerned that someone might trouble you in the Sword Tomb because of Huang Wen. Rest assured—I'm here to see if anyone dares to take revenge under the guise of justice."

Seeing that it was Bai Zihua, Zeng Yan lowered her guard, but her voice remained distant. "Senior Brother, there's no need for you to trouble yourself over me. A sword is a weapon of killing—its sharpness comes from tempering. I actually hope some blind fools do come."

She emphasized the words "blind fools," making Bai Zihua feel awkward. Though she didn't curse outright, he had been hiding in the forest before dawn. Knowing he was in the wrong, he understood that her words were aimed at him.

"Junior Sister, I meant nothing else. I just thought that if Elder Wen or anyone from Huang Wen's faction were dissatisfied, they would come to the Sword Tomb at night, not in broad daylight. That's why I waited here, hoping to catch them in the act." Bai Zihua placed the food box beside her wooden hut and said with concern, "These are pastries prepared in the Earth District at my request. The box has a spirit-locking formation set up by a formation master—no matter how long the food stays inside, it won't spoil. There's no food in the Sword Tomb." He hesitated for a moment before adding solemnly, "Junior Sister, I'll bring you food every day. Just focus on your cultivation."

"Thank you for your kindness, Senior Brother, but unfortunately I just took a Fasting Pill. During my confinement, I have no appetite. You should take the food box back," Zeng Yan said as she slowly raised the branch again. "Senior Brother, I'm about to practice my family sword technique. It's a secret art and not meant to be seen by outsiders. Please understand and leave early."

Seeing her assume a sword stance, Bai Zihua sighed. "Junior Sister, I'll leave the food box here. You can eat it once the Fasting Pill wears off." With that, he turned and walked into the forest, his figure looking somewhat lonely.

Zeng Yan waited for a while. Suddenly, her brows furrowed, and this time her killing intent grew even stronger. "Senior Brother, why go back on your word and return again?" In the next instant, the wooden branch in her hand shot forward toward a patch of bushes.

From within the bushes, Lu You suddenly transformed into a wisp of black mist. Using Lu Xiao'e's movement technique, he avoided the incoming branch, then lowered his voice. "Senior Sister, it's me." As he spoke, he emerged from the undergrowth.

"When did you get here?" Seeing that it was Lu You, a slight smile appeared at the corner of Zeng Yan's lips, though her expression remained stern. "Of all things to learn, you had to learn sneaking around in the bushes. What kind of decent person acts so furtively?"

"Senior Sister, I just thought that if Elder Wen or anyone from Huang Wen's faction were dissatisfied, they would come to the Sword Tomb at night, not in broad daylight." Lu You grinned, deliberately mimicking Bai Zihua's tone.

Zeng Yan immediately got annoyed. She rushed forward and flicked his forehead. "I was already planning to question you, and you still dare to joke around? Tell me, where did you get so many Foundation Establishment Pills?"

Her expression turned serious. She didn't mind Lu You joking—in fact, knowing he had arrived early enough to witness her rejecting Bai Zihua made her feel relieved. But she was genuinely worried about how Lu You had obtained so many pills.

Lu You dropped the playful attitude and answered seriously, "Before joining the Verdant Cloud Sect, I discovered a cave. Inside were some pills and talismans. That's when I thought I had encountered an immortal opportunity and tried every way to join the sect to cultivate. Senior Sister, these pills were found back then too. Could it be that they've been stored too long and lost their effectiveness?"

He showed just the right amount of anxiety. Opportunities like this were hard to verify anyway. Zeng Yan stared at him suspiciously for a moment, then shook her head. "They're effective. Junior Brother, remember this—no matter what opportunity you've obtained, be extremely cautious. Never reveal it lightly. Also, these pills are too precious. You should take them back. I've already wasted three, I can't waste any more."

She took out a porcelain bottle from her robe and was about to return it, but Lu You reacted quickly and grabbed her hand.

"Senior Sister, you just said I can't expose myself. I'm only at Qi Refining, I don't even know when I'll be able to use these pills. If I exchange them for other resources, that might expose me instead, making things even more dangerous. But if you succeed in reaching Foundation Establishment, I can rely on you—that's the safest option."

"Let go." Zeng Yan shot him a glare. His reasoning made sense, but the way he was holding her hand while talking about relying on her in the future felt oddly awkward. She shook him off and took the pills back. "Fine. I'll keep them for you for now."

Lu You nodded in satisfaction, then stood up and looked around the wooden hut she had built.

Instinctively, Zeng Yan followed his gaze. Seeing the crooked and uneven planks, she showed a hint of embarrassment, her face turning slightly red.

"Senior Sister, this place is full of lush grass and flowing water—a great place to build a hut. And since I've improved a bit with basic talismans, let me help you clean up." As he spoke, Lu You immediately activated a Wind Talisman. Since its materials had been replaced with the ancient skin, he made sure Zeng Yan didn't get a clear look of it.

Whoosh!

A powerful yet controlled gust swept through, carrying away fallen leaves and dry branches—along with the wooden hut, which was completely blown apart.

Zeng Yan: …

Lu You: "Senior Sister, how is it? My talisman skills have improved, right? Wow, I didn't expect this much progress—the Wind Talisman even blew down the house! Come, come, let me compensate you with a sturdier one."
