(AMARI'S POV)
"Not everyone. Just the Pack chiefs." He answered casually.
Like that was supposed to make me feel better.
I had no idea who the Pack chiefs were or what it meant to hold that position. We didn't have them back at Moon Haven Pack. I wondered if the other packs had them too, but I knew little of them so I was clueless.
"You're with me. There's nothing to be scared of." Kaelen said, as if he was reading my mind.
I bit back a glare. The third one since I got into this car with him. He did not speak in a softening manner but rather in an entitled way. Too relaxed. And it annoyed me.
But I was more annoyed with Talon. I was furious with him. He was the one who brought me into this.
What a terrible monster!
I couldn't catch a break. Ever since that scam of a marriage, it's gone from bad to worse.
Talon hadn't prepped me for any council or chief. What was I to do? What if they found out the truth because of an inconsistency? What if I slipped?
