(AMARI'S POV)
I have experienced many setbacks and unfortunate events in my life.
But they all can't amount to what I have gone through in the past three days.
Why?
Because my siblings, the only family I have, the most important part of my life, is in danger with me and it's all because they are tied to a curse.
"Amari."
It wasn't the call of my name that brought me out of my thoughts but the way his fierce hand gently shook me back to my reality.
I peeled my temple from the chilled passenger glass and was welcomed by the sudden warmth of the car. The blur of the bungalow snapped into sharp focus before I turned sideways to those polished obsidian eyes.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes." I replied and then my goosebumps ran down my skin, like I had only just noticed his hold. I looked down at his hand around my arm and his gaze followed mine at the same time. He let go like my skin burned him.
There was a second of uncomfortable silence and then he cleared his throat.
