Chapter 218 - 218: Homelander's Power: Analysis complete

After saying goodbye to Edgar, Ivan walked out of the office.

"Hmm."

Homelander stood in front of his own portrait, hands clasped behind his back, studying every detail of the painting.

"Greevs, don't tell me you're about to crawl out of Vought with your tail between your legs. From what I know about you, there's no way you'd kill A-Train right in front of Black Noir without being completely sure. I assume you know who Black Noir answers to."

Homelander turned and locked eyes with Ivan.

He understood that deep down Ivan and Edgar were the same type. Neither of them ever made a move without absolute certainty.

Ivan only gave a faint smile and said nothing.

In reality that smile was already the answer.

"So how did you fix it?" Honestly, Homelander hated dealing with people who spoke in riddles. If Greevs weren't Vought's vice president he would have ripped those extra hearts out of the man's chest and crushed them one by one. But that was pure fantasy, just as unrealistic as the idea that he could kill whoever he wanted without consequences.

"I sent the Vought board members a little gift. I'm sure they'll be very surprised when they open it."

Ivan smiled.

Homelander shook his head with open contempt. "So you just bribed those old farts into protecting your seat. And here I thought you had something better. Looks like that's all you are, Greevs."

"However I did it doesn't matter. I'm still vice president of Vought. As long as the goal is reached, the method is irrelevant."

Faced with Homelander's misunderstanding, Ivan didn't bother explaining. With the way Homelander's brain worked he would never have thought of using blackmail.

The "better way" in Homelander's head was probably storming into every board member's house and threatening them with glowing eyes: obey or get your skull lasered open.

That was exactly why, in the original story, even after he took control of Vought he only managed to turn everything into a complete mess.

"Remember the superhero movie we started shooting earlier? Lang from Comprehensive Planning is waiting with the new script. You're the producer. You should take a look."

Ivan pushed back his suit sleeve and checked the time on his watch.

In truth he wanted to use the chance to fully analyze every one of Homelander's powers. Provided there was enough time, of course.

"New script?" Homelander's curiosity was piqued. He nodded. "Hope they didn't cut any of my scenes."

Ivan pushed open the office door and found Lang, who had been waiting for a while.

"Mr. Greevs, this is the revised script according to your requirements." The moment he saw Ivan enter, Lang stood up from the sofa and respectfully held out the new script. His rank wasn't much lower than Ivan's, but everyone at Vought knew Ivan was Edgar's current favorite and the next CEO was basically locked in.

Don't underestimate the power of social climbing. As long as you have money and power, people will line up to kiss your ass. The second you lose both, you become a pile of dog shit everyone avoids.

It was easy to imagine that if news of Ivan getting fired had leaked inside Vought right now, Lang's attitude would have been the complete opposite. Arrogance would have been his natural look.

"Sit. Hope I didn't keep you waiting long." Ivan took the script with a calm expression.

Lang hurriedly shook his head and put on a fake smile. "Mr. Greevs, I only arrived a little earlier than you. Can't really call it waiting long."

Ivan glanced at the disposable paper cup on the coffee table. The water inside was completely gone, and the surface even had crumple marks from being squeezed.

He didn't call out the lie. He simply sat on the other sofa and started flipping through the script.

At the same time he pulled up the panel and began analyzing every one of Homelander's powers.

Ivan deliberately slowed his reading speed and occasionally tossed different comments toward Lang.

"Give me a quick summary of the new plot. Homelander's already so bored he's inspecting the decorations in my office."

"No problem." Lang shot a look at Homelander, who was glancing around the room, then cleared his throat.

"Ahem. The new script fully incorporates the valuable suggestions you provided and fixed the original weak spots. The basic story goes like this: one morning a red energy sphere from outer space crashes into Manhattan. Unusual magnetic fluctuations alert Vought, so they bring the uninvited guest back to the lab for study.

During the research the red energy sphere suddenly releases an extreme burst of power and instantly shreds everything within a ten-meter radius centered on itself.

It turns out someone used the spatial teleportation function of the energy sphere to arrive on Earth…"

Lang paused, then continued. "He takes the energy sphere and destroys Vought's laboratory. His appearance makes Vought realize that other forces exist in the universe and are already eyeing Earth. In order to protect the lives of people around the globe, Vought decides to form a super team strong enough to resist external enemies. Code name: Guardian Alliance…"

It took Lang about ten minutes to finish his "brief" rundown of the basic plot.

Homelander, however, was completely absorbed.

He especially liked the part where he used his heat vision to slice an alien ship in half.

"The overall structure is fine for now. Just don't forget to replace Starlight with Lamplighter. Best if we use A-Train's sacrifice to create a heavier atmosphere for the film. When the time comes for the press conference announcing the start of filming, we can leverage A-Train's accidental death to generate extra heat for the movie. As for who plays A-Train, I've got a recommendation. The guy looks exactly like him. Even his real father wouldn't be able to tell them apart."

To Lang, this blatant blood-soaked marketing… was absolutely perfect!

"Take a look. If there's anything else that needs changing, just tell Lang. He'll consider it."

Ivan handed the new script to Homelander.

Homelander took it and started flipping through the pages. He had a strong feeling that once the movie hit theaters it would explode. Just thinking about the massive jump in popularity and fan count made him excited.

The two of them kept discussing all the way until noon and still weren't finished.

By then the analysis of Homelander's powers had reached its end.
