"Yo! Stop the car for a second!" Braxton yells at Ethan to turn off the car. He also woke up Arthur in the process, which made him get hit with something that he couldn't see. Braxton rubs the back of his head, and points at the burning barn a couple miles away from them. They were both a little shook. "We should check this out!"
"Why?" Arthur asked. "We're already doing something at the moment…"
"Isn't our whole job supposed to be helping the community?" Braxton reminds them.
"He's right…" Ethan interjected. "We should make sure nobody's getting hurt over there!" He pulls the car over, and parks it. Ethan then hops out of the driver's seat, and goes over to get a better look. Braxton and Arthur also hop out of the car.
The smoke coming off of the barn was reaching crazy high in the sky. Some of the wood also seemed to fall apart and off the structure. The grass around the area was catching ablaze, and the flowers were dying off quickly. They got even closer than before, and saw as everything that was made of wood, morphed into this dark brown-back colour, that honestly made it look like charcoal. The sight was honestly beautiful in a twisted sadistic way, almost like a big bonfire.
Once the door fell off, the fire really started to creep up on the field surrounding it. That's when the three of them knew that it was probably a good idea for them to hurry it up over there.
They make it after a minute of light jogging, and they try to look through the door to see if they could see anything. They didn't see anything, but they did hear something, or someone. The faintest crying noise known to man was heard by Braxton. He steps forward to check it out, but gets stopped by Arthur and slapped across the face. He also shakes him a little bit, trying to snap Braxton back to his senses.
"Dumbass! You were gonna step through those flames like an idiot!" Arthur yells.
"Oh yeah! Damn!" Braxton realises, now having to come up with a whole new plan. "I think I heard someone crying in there!" he says, almost getting muted by the crackling of the flames right next to him. Arthur and Ethan broke a sweat, but not from the heat of the fire. They all go around, and over to the side of the building.
A couple meters off the ground, seemed to be a perfect hole in the wall for one of them to go in. They all looked at each other, knowing what to do. The only problem was, who should do it? Ethan raises his hand immediately, volunteering himself to be the hero. Braxton and Arthur both shake their hands, showing him that only the two of them could reliably fit through there without getting hurt. Braxton then thinks that he could do it, since he was the smallest, but Arthur just points at his leg, and Braxton remembers why he shouldn't really be doing stuff like this. Which only left Arthur to be the hero this time. His face said it all, he did not want to be doing anything of the sort, let alone be awake in any capacity. All of that pouting though was countered by the wails of someone inside, possibly getting burned alive. That shit set Arthur straight real quick.
They decided to make a stack of themselves, with Ethan at the button, Braxton in the middle, and Arthur of course being at the top. They pushed themselves up against the wall, so that Arthur could climb through. He managed to figure it out with little to no scratches, and made it through said hole. The flames inside were much bigger than he expected when looking down. They were pretty much engulfing everything in sight, including a makeshift cage stuck in the dead center of the barn.
The thing was shaking back and forth, and he noticed a hand moving inside. It was trying its best to what he presumed to be prying it open.
Arthur hopped down to the ground floor, almost getting caught in some flames in the process. He navigated his way through the flames; and closer to the cage. Once he got over there, he saw who was being locked up in there. It seemed to be a girl around the same age as Braxton's mom, with black hair, and tanned skin. Arthur assumed she was Latina, but he didn't want to ask just in case. She was also bleeding from her head, with blood stains all over her body. Tears started to flow down her face when she saw that Arthur had showed up.
"O-oh thank god! Please child! Help me!" She pleaded on her hands and knees for him to save her. "S-some crazy man from that w-weird institution a couple kilometers away! T-trapped me in my own barn, and set it on fire before l-letting himself be burned alive!" she points at the burning body, laying right in front of her point of view. Arthur got queasy when seeing dead bodies, so he turned around as soon as he saw the thing.
Arthur frantically looks around the place for something that he could use. He then sees a crowbar with blood all over it, laying down all the way in the back. The path to it seemed tricky to navigate, but Arthur was dialed in for this very moment. He weaved away from the spitting fire that was almost touching parts of his skin, and he managed to grab that crowbar with his left hand. He felt so accomplished, that he forgot that he was going to have to do the same thing back. The fire seemed to have somehow grown bigger, and Arthur had no idea what to do at the moment.
So he just winged it.
He closed his eyes, and just let his body prance though the burning cinder. Some charred pieces of wood managed to get onto his skin, but he persevered through the burns, and got back in one piece. He pulls apart the metal bars with all his might, and pulls out the barn girl from said cage.
"W-what do we do now!" Barn girl asked.
HEY!!!
They both look up, to see that Braxton was also on the piece that Arthur was standing on. He had a rope with him, and he was untangling it, and letting the thing down.
Arthur grabbed onto the barn girl's right arm, and hoisted himself onto the rope. He also made sure that she had a firm grip on the rope, before signaling to Braxton to lift the both of them up. It took all the strength Braxton still had in him, but since Arthur and barn girl were pretty skinny, it wasn't too bad for him.
Ethan was still outside, waiting for the two of them to come out of the barn already. He was pacing around in circles. Thankfully for him, they all came out shortly after, with someone else coming along from behind. Ethan extended out his arms, and caught Braxton out of the air, before letting him down to the ground. He did the exact same thing for Arthur and the barn girl; making sure that all of them wouldn't get injured.
Once they all made it down, barn girls started to sniffle, and cry, and then bawl her goddamn eyes out. Ethan gave her a hug, and she cried a whole bunch into his shoulder.
"T-hank you so muchhhhh!!!" She sobbed. "Thank youuuuu!!" Braxton high five's Arthur, and he felt so proud of himself, for being man enough to do something like that.
