Arthur had no idea what to do anymore. He had never felt this way with anyone before, let alone this quick. His heart felt like it was going to burst out of his chest. Also his dick was also coming out. Seeing if they would be finally getting action or not.
Charlie was also feeling really awkward with the whole situation that they were in. It wasn't the same reason though.
Braxton and Ethan were starting to get really bored from this guy doing absolutely nothing. Also Charles was working vigorously on their engine. This was probably the most awkward sequence that any of these people have ever had to sit through. Someone better had said something before Arthur went insane.
"Your car is all good now…" Charles saves the day by coming in at the last second. Braxton let go of his breath and Ethan was so happy, he started clapping. "How Y'all gonna pay me?" he asked.
Ethan hands him some money out of his wallet, which he takes happily. "Alright! Time to get back onto the road!" He announces. Then Charlie pops out of her own work, and states: "you should probably wait… like, 5-10 minutes before using that thing…" Charles nods his head in agreement. Arthur also didn't look too keen on leaving so soon. He gave Ethan a death glare, just before he turned to his direction.
"Hey Y'all what did I miss!" some old man with a cane, slowly walks through the backroom door. Charlie and Charles both light up a little when they heard his voice.
"What up gramps!" Charles said.
"Hi grandpa!" Charlie said.
"Who're these guys?" Grandpa asked, while pointing his boney and shaky hand at Ethan. "And why're they staying here?" He walks over to them, and starts punching Ethan's cheek for some reason. Charles watches this happen with his mouth gaping open, and Braxton doesn't know what to do.
"H-hey sir! Can you stop that…" Ethan politely asks.
"You look very stunning young man…" Grandpa compliments him to the shock of everyone. "Especially for a guy…" Ethan was feeling really uncomfortable with this interaction. Luckily for him though, Charlie comes out to save the day.
"Let go of him grandpa!" She takes his hand off Ethan's face. "We'll come back inside after a minute. Okay?" Grandpa just shrugs her off and goes back inside. "Sorry about him man… you do look stunning in my opinion! Do you dye your hair?!" She starts talking to Ethan about his looks.
"No this is its natural colour!" He takes her words in stride.
Arthur watches them chat away, and gets a little jealous. Braxton is watching the two of them talk; but notices that Arthur sighed a little bit, while staring into Ethan's soul.
Braxton puts a hand onto Arthur shoulder, and signals for him to calm the fuck down. It's not like Ethan was going to steal her from him anyway. Then they both watch as the two of them wave each other off warmly, and Ethan walks back to their car with something in his hands. Braxton follows him over, feeling really bored and wanting to leave. Charlie then gets ready to go back inside, following suit with Charles, but then she notices Arthur was still standing there, looking a little bit down.
"Hey! You okay there?" Arthur looks up and sees that Charlie was standing right in front of him. He freezes, not knowing what to do. "Y-yeah! I'm f-fine!" he blurts out to no one's surprise.
Charlie sighs, and pats Arthur's shoulder. "Whelp. I guess I'll see you around dude!" She gives him a somewhat warm smile, which was all it took for Arthur to be happy.
"Y-you to!" Arthur gives her a thumbs up whilst beet red, and tries to leave. Charlie stops him for a second, before giving him a folded up piece of paper. She placed it in his hand, and went back into the back. Arthur had no idea what she gave him, but he decides to open it, what he finds is what he presumes is her phone number. He puts it into the small pocket that was near his heart, and it felt like the thing was about to explode.
Ethan and Braxton were waiting in the car, wondering what the hell happened to Arthur. Then, they see him walking out stiffly with a big goofy smile plastered onto his face. They both knew what just happened, and started to giggle at him. He sees them laughing, and flips the both of them off before saying something that they couldn't understand.
"What happened in there…?" Braxton said in between giggles.
"Oh shut up! Both of you can fuck off!" Arthur didn't even seem to be that mad at the moment. Everything else felt counteracted.
Ethan turns his car key, and watches as the thing whirrs back to life. They were all super excited, and Ethan immediately stepped on the petal, and floored that bitch out of there. Arthur looks back at the repair shop, and sees Charlie waving at them goodbye. He gives her his own wave, and turns back around, facing frontward.
They drive through Quélkunstown pretty quickly, watching as the people stare at them driving through. It didn't take them too long to get out of the town. Braxton watched as the town slowly faded into the horizon, and Arthur had already fallen back asleep somehow.
"What were you and that girl talking about?" Braxton asked.
"She was complimenting me!" Ethan said. "For me that doesn't really seem that often, but I guess this town is more accepting…"
"Huh. And what did she give you?" He asked again.
"I think it was her phone number…" Ethan took the piece of paper out of his pocket, and unfolded it to see what was on it. Lo and behold, he was in fact, right all along. He also guessed that Arthur got the same thing he did.
"Ooo… didn't know you were a ladies man…" Braxton teased him.
"Oh no! Not really!" Ethan clarified. "She most likely meant it as friends! Plies she isn't really my type…" Ethan lowered the volume on his voice. Which Braxton got the memo.
Now that the ride was really awkward, Braxton didn't really know what to do anymore. Music could be a good option, but he didn't want to wake up Arthur just yet. So he decides to just stare out the window, and look at all the scenery. The hills in the back looked incredible in his eyes. There were also lots of empty fields with a whole lot of land and animals. Also with the different barns and farm houses that are scattered around the place. Including the area that they were in with an abnormal abundance of them tightly knit with each other.
Oh yeah! There was also the barn engulfed in flames front and centre.
