Chapter 14 - Adam armor

"So how'd you manage to not only create suns but milk them for their energy as well?" I asked.

"When I began my existence my database contained the known sum of humanities knowledge of all energy fields. It also contained theorized ideas in the field. After much experimentation and computation the idea of a miniaturized Dyson sphere seemed the most actionable." Adam said calmly.

"But you needed a miniaturized sun for that so you made your own." I said and the bot body nodded.

"Affirmative. I started my experimentation on producing such a thing in a controlled scale and after a large number of failures discovered the method. From there I began to design and refine the Dyson sphere energy capturing housings. In a fortuitous turn of events the artificial miniature suns could only exist in a vacuum which ensured the energy collections efficiency was quite high." Adam said proudly.

"Compared to fission and fusion reactors how does this tech compare?" I asked curiously.

"My technology is seven hundred and twenty eight times more effective. A single small solar fusion instance of this scale you see here outputs enough energy per second to power every prewar electronic on the planet for thirty two hours." Adam explained proudly.

"Jesus. And you put something like that in a suit of armor?" I asked seriously.

"Affirmative. Though for accuracies sake the actual power source of the armor is only the size of a prewar golf ball and thus doesn't output nearly the same amount of energy. Merely enough to power a major prewar city for an hour with the amount of energy output per second." Adam said almost apologetically.

'MERELY, it says! Like that isn't already enough energy to cause serious problems. God I hope the Brotherhood never learns about this place, they'd run head first into the grinder with smiles if they did.' I thought with a shudder.

The Brotherhood of Steel, a prewar group you either loved or hated depending on your personal views. They are a draconian group that abhors anything not human, and especially anything made that way through human science. They were supposedly created with the idea of collecting and keeping safe any prewar technology and knowledge that could cause problems in less than well intentioned hands. They also treated anyone not part of them as uneducated savages and had no problem at all killing them to get even the smallest piece of technology.-

Considering this vault had shit so ridiculously advanced it would be considered science fantasy even in the world of science fiction nonsense that is this one they'd kill or maim however many people it would take to claim it. Add on Adam who was an A.I VERY close to imitating human mannerisms and they'd froth at the mouth like rapid dogs just hearing about this place. That is to say I was probably(written definitely) not going to be friends with them since I was keeping all this to myself.-

Just this energy source alone was enough to not only rebuild the pre war world with the right complementing technology but with Adam added on things could probably go even further. Once Adam was done stroking it's ego by showing off the literal solar power floor we went down yet another floor to the synthetic material research and development floor. Here there were doors for chemicals, fuels, alloys, cloth, the works, all split into individual rooms with their own topic of focus. Honestly it was a lot to take in all at once.-

"This floor is where I have delved deeply into the field of synthetic materials. My creators may have only intended for me to be part of an experiment but they created a perfect set of conditions for me to advance as I have. Most troubles I had with my other focus were solved through material improvements and synthesis." Adam said seriously.

"I can't help but notice a lot of things disassembling the vault suits and pipboys. Are those good sources of materials or something?" I asked curiously.

"The vault suits are excellent sources of polymer plastics and the pipboys have three separate metallic elements in trace amounts that with minor atomic adjustment become many different elements." Adam explained calmly.

Finally we reached the final floor of the vault simply labeled "completed storage". It was one massive room that had very little in the way of variety in it.

"Hold on why did you want me to wear this suit if you've just made a better one? Cooler looking too!" I asked immediately walking up to the shelf that had a folded vault suit on it that was VERY different from the one I am wearing. This one was pure black with an almost metallic luster to it.

"The previous apparel you had on was suboptimal and I wished to ensure your safety as much as possible as early as possible." Adam explained calmly.

"Aw, that's so sweet! I assume by that same metric you want me to strip and put this new one on as well?" I asked.

"Affirmative. This one is made with non-newtonian materials for extreme physical trauma resistance. Also moisture wicking for comfort." Adam said calmly.

"Don't have to tell me twice!" I say eagerly stripping off the blue suit and steeping into the black one.

Once I was suited up in the black body suit that even had feet coverings I moved on to the next thing. It looked like a normal microfusion cell but was pure black in color with a green band around one end.

"These must be your answer to things that require microfusion cells I take it?" I asked as I picked up on of the surprisingly heavy things.

"Affirmative. One of those solar fusion cells is worth the approximate amount of two thousand microfusion cells. The same is roughly true of the energy cell variant aswell." Adam said calmly.

I nodded in acknowledgement and with the firm understanding I would be taking a few of these with me when I left. I then moved on to the next item besides the rows of robot models. There standing on a stand arms outstretched as if beckoning me to put it on was the promised armor. A glorious silver grey beast of smooth protective wear. It looked almost like it was made of rectangular scales as the front was fully opened up waiting for someone to step in it. I didn't hesitate at all to turn around and step into the suit and let it close around me as all those scales moved and latched fully pressurizing the suit.-

The suit shifted around on me until it fit snuggly in place and the helmet closed around my head leaving my vision in darkness for a moment before the sensors turned on and I could see again. I went to step off the rack only to kick the air in front of me hard as hell and fall awkwardly.-

"The fuck?" I asked confused.

"There is a brief moment of calibration needed for the suit to fully adjust to the wearers movements." Adam said and it sounded almost like the thing was holding back a snicker.
