"Power armor, of a sorts. My database didn't have the blueprints for the already existing power armor models. In following my first purpose I understand that humans are by nature very fragile beings, easily injured and killed. With this understanding I began to try and develop my own power armor model using the average recorded data in my database. I failed many times and consequently made several break throughs in other fields but eventually created my first iteration. From there I refined it further using a robotic facsimile to take the place of human testing." Adam said calmly.
"And how far did you manage to refine it?" I asked as I stripped to put on a jumpsuit.
"Four hundred and eleven iterations worth. I can no longer refine it further as I lack the theoretical resources required." Adam said almost frustrated by that.
"Four hundred and eleven refinements. Jesus, this thing must be incredible after all that right?" I asked as I zipped up the tight fitting but surprisingly comfortable blue and yellow jumpsuit with a big yellow twenty three on it's back.
"It's fully enclosed and pressure regulated for travel in extreme oceanic depths or vacuum conditions. It's synthetic metal alloy blend is radiation negative and capable of withstanding up to a one hundred and twelve millimeter shells direct impact. It has a built in oxygen recycler and pressurized Oxygen tanks with forty eight hours of condensed oxygen-nitrogen mixture. It collects and purifies external water for the wearers use. The inner lining of the suit has hundreds of miniature biomonitoring sensors, auto injectors, muscle and nerves adjustment servos and synthetic exo-muscle fibers. The helmet comes with full three sixty degree field of view, heads up display, radio, eye tracking typing module and thermal, infrared and night vision sensors." Adam said leaving me speechless.
"What the actual fuck man? And that isn't perfect already?" I asked confused since that sounded pretty damned perfect to me.
"Regretfully not. I could never finish developing the anti gravity propulsion mechanism to allow omni-terrain movement. Or the spatial storage module." Adam said like that wasn't already an two unreasonable ideas to begin with.
"How the hell is this thing even powered to begin with? Because that, that is a lot." I asked curiously.
"A miniaturized solar fusion drive of course." Adam said as I stepped out of the room over the robo-tigers remains.
"The fuck is a solar fusion drive?" I asked with a bad feeling.
"In accordance with my second purpose I spent most of my time developing and refining energy production, robotics and synthetic material technology. The miniaturized solar fusion drive is the pinnacle of my energy research and development. It uses a self-contained miniature solar body as a self sustained energy reactor." Adam explained with a proud tone.
"You put a sun in a box." I said with a horrified whisper.
"Negative. It's in a sphere. A cuboid shape would be inefficient." Adam corrected.
"And if that housing was punctured somehow?" I asked warily eyeing the robo-tiger remains.
"Unlikely but in such a circumstance the miniature solar body would cease to exist as it can not persist outside it's containment unit." Adam said making me breath a sigh of relief.
"So besides this armor have you by chance developed any weapons?" I asked hopefully.
"Negative. Unnecessary for survival so long as the armor is worn." Adam said and I shrugged.
'Worth a shot.' I thought as I checked the other two rooms before the stairs.
They were both storage rooms like the first but this time completely empty. I immediately noticed the scuff marks on the ground and figured out why. Adam had collected the contents as raw material for his work most likely. Satisfied with that I walked down the stairs still packed with my orcs that made way as I walked. The second floor was a series of rooms for housing and a pair of bathrooms. My orcs were in them and I checked them over but besides the usual clothes and personal effects there was nothing really worth mentioning. Each room had one or two beds, a shower one or two dressers and a kitchen area.-
The kitchen area had preserved foods and water that I eyed but otherwise left alone. Honestly just those things alone would make this place a gold mine in the wasteland but I wanted some really big ticket items. Things like weapons, ammo, armors and high end tech. After carefully checking each and every room I finally went down the next set of stairs and paused slightly. Mostly because this floor was labeled "robotics" and for VERY good reason. There were robots all over it in various states of creation or destruction. Most of them were in the forms of animals for some reason or other but a few were in humanoid shapes.-
I watched one of the limp human looking models stand up straight and unplug itself from it's cord on the wall before walking out of the room it was in and into the hallway.
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance in person. As much as I am able at least." The bot spoke in that familiar voice.
"Adam?" I asked and the bot gave me a thumbs up.
"I am controlling this frame since my true form is not ambulatory. I wanted to personally give you a tour of the facilities and all I have accomplished in these two hundred years." Adam said through the bot.
"Well that's nice and all but I'm a little confused. Is this it for robotics?" I asked gesturing at the various rooms with bots in them.
"Affirmative. Due to a lack of sufficient resources production of robotics was limited to this amount. The vault door was also programed to only open from the outside hence why I could not scavenge resources externally. A fact that never computed to me until you explained this vaults experimental nature." Adam said calmly.
"Yeah Vault-tech were a bunch of dicks like that." I said with a shrug.
"The next floor I believe is the most valuable of them all. The energy research and production floor." Adam said gesturing me to follow.
I had my orcs part to allow us through as I followed the robot body Adam was using. Already I was considering whether or not to just team up with the A.I completely. Despite the whole killing everyone in the vault thing it seemed like a pretty chill dude, chick? Thing, a chill thing.-
As promised the next floor did not disappoint. Unlike the previous that was a bunch of rooms this one only had three rooms. The first was the largest and had whole rows of batteries and energy cells. Enough to look like a cheating player in the game dumped their collection onto shelves. The second room was of a medium size but had me staring because there was a literal fucking sun contained inside a series of curved pillars.
'And here I thought my own caged sun was impressive.' I thought with a wry chuckle.
