Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 (Life)

When we are alone, our minds always drift into random but philosophical thoughts.

Why do we exist? What is our purpose? Why are we even alive?

Questions like these will never truly be answered, so we end up replacing them with other questions that are tied to our own lives instead

For me, I have asked myself many times: why was I born? Why does bad luck always seem to follow me? I just want to know why

My parents died when I was eight years old. After that, I lived in an orphanage for six months, before I was taken in by a friend of my mother

Why did I stay there for six months? Why didn't she come sooner? She said she was traveling abroad at the time. I don't know her very well, but I remember seeing her when I was younger. My mother used to smile a lot whenever she talked about her

She raised me until I turned nineteen. After that, she died. And the most painful part—the part that made me hate everything—was that it was a car accident. The driver was speeding despite all warnings, and in the end, he crashed into her… or rather, into my mother's friend

I did everything I could. Media, videos, I demanded justice and insisted that the criminal be imprisoned. The police arrested him, but he only stayed in jail for one week before being released.

Why? Because his father had powerful influence.

After that, something inside me broke. I gave up on everything

I couldn't accept it anymore. I did what I had to do—I killed him. And I made sure his father paid as well

Even the police never discovered it.

After that, I spent about four years falling into complete decline. I sold all my belongings and traveled from city to city with no direction

Then I moved to a new city, found an apartment, bought it, and lived there. My money slowly decreased, but not too much. I worked many small jobs even though I didn't really need to. My mother taught me how to save money, and that habit stayed with me.

I wasted my time on jobs, games, and reading novels

"World Record"…

I was lying on my bed, staring at the novel that its author had abandoned years ago.

I turned off my phone and got up from my bed

I stood in front of the mirror—handsome face, black hair, deep blue eyes

I stared at my reflection

Nothing… just emptiness

After a few seconds, I shook my head and went

into the bathroom. I washed my face with cold water

When I lifted my hand and wiped my face, water dripping down, I suddenly felt dizzy

The clear water turned red

Blood

I could feel its stickiness between my fingers. My hands trembled and I slowly pulled them away from my face.

I looked at the mirror again.

But I was not alone anymore.

There was a woman.

Beautiful. Long black hair reaching her waist, wearing a red dress

Her green eyes shined as she smiled from inside the reflection.

"Well done, my son… well done. You did something good. You got rid of the pests. You don't need to be afraid anymore. You are a good boy, Jin."

Her voice was soft as she stepped closer, until it felt like she was standing right behind me.

"Well done, my dear son."

Suddenly, her voice exploded inside my head.

It felt like my skull was splitting apart, like thousands of blades were tearing through my mind.

And then…

Everything disappeared.

The blood. The woman. Her breath. The smell. All of it vanished.

"Ah... ah"

I fell to the ground, gasping for air, cold sweat running down my forehead.

Minutes passed before I could move again. I forced myself up, washed my face once more with cold water, and avoided the mirror completely this time.

I rushed out of the bathroom, returned to my bed, pulled the blanket over my body, and curled up.

Then I slowly closed my eyes

And everything faded into darkness
