Chapter 88 - Chap.87 - Santiago

Rigel looked at the compass as soon as he set foot on land. Cotton, Ragetti, and Pintel went ahead, cutting the tall grass as they passed, but this time even Pintel didn't seem unhappy, they were all excited to find the fountain of youth.

However, what Rigel was looking for now was the ship Santiago.

Santiago was a ship belonging to the Spanish explorer, Juan Ponce de León. The ship became stranded on top of a cliff by a storm. Rigel knew that sending a ship flying high enough for it to be thrown off a cliff could only be a supernatural event.

The journey was long through a dense jungle full of venomous wildlife, fortunately, Calypso managed to influence these animals to stay away from them.

They crossed the undergrowth, the water, and finally came to a precipice blocking the way. Looking down, they saw the water running among the rocks, clearly, falling here would be very dangerous.

The pirates swallowed hard, and even Elizabeth took a step back, remembering what it's like to be afraid.

Will swallowed hard as he asked. "And now?"

Calypso looked at Rigel with a playful smile, and the other pirates also looked at Rigel, hoping he had some kind of magic solution.

Rigel rolled his eyes, looking at the precipice, he roughly estimated it was at least 50 meters high.

The safe limit for jumping into the water is 15 meters.

The world record in his previous world championship was held by a Brazilian, who jumped 58.8 meters, suffering only a minor injury to his right leg, but this involves deep preparation, or absurd luck like Jack's.

Besides the fact that there were many visible rocks down there, jumping there was practically suicide for most people.

Finally, Rigel summoned water, covering all their feet, leaving the prisoners incredibly shocked, but they were held firmly by the pirates.

None of the pirates moved, by this point, they trusted Rigel completely.

The next moment, a large platform of water began to rise into the air. Rigel gritted his teeth as he maintained control over them, slowly guiding them toward the opposite bank.

Calypso could do even better, but she didn't want to interfere too much in Rigel's adventure, by this point, she was acting more as an observer. Unless he asks her for help, of course.

When they finally reached the other side, Rigel let the water wash over him as he took a few deep breaths.

The difficulty wasn't in keeping so much water in the air, but in keeping each person stable, otherwise, they would have already passed directly through the water. It wasn't just about controlling the water, but changing its properties.

He felt that the more he did it, the easier it became to do it again, much faster than his usual spells, but it wasn't instantaneous, it still required practice.

"Rigel, are you alright?" Elizabeth asked, worried.

"Yes." Rigel nodded, and then they continued walking, going deeper into the woods.

It took a few more hours, but they finally reached the cove where the ship Santiago was 'stuck'. Looking up at the ship, Rigel glanced at the sea on the other side and sighed, he really needed to improve his compass use.

He could have simply taken the boat around, but instead he spent hours venturing through the wilderness, shaking his head. He saw the smile at the corner of Calypso's mouth, he knew she knew, deep down, that this woman was still the same. She seemed to relish seeing him take the harder path.

Rigel looked at the ship and thought for a moment, it was extremely unstable. Going aboard would be very dangerous, let alone taking things from it.

He slowly turned his gaze to Calypso, the woman was smiling gently, but Rigel seemed to feel as if he were about to eat poison wrapped in sugar.

Sighing, he said. "Can you bring that thing down?"

She gave an extremely bright smile.

"How do you say?" She smiled, without coming closer, just a smile full of amusement.

Rigel's lips trembled, he looked away, his cheeks flushed. "Please, can you bring the ship down?"

"Of course, darling." She replied, smiling contentedly.

The next moment, a gale formed over the ship, growing rapidly while keeping the ship steady, but the wind made the ship rise for a moment, then began to descend.

Rigel narrowed his eyes, he felt he could do it with a little practice, but the most he could do now was use Ventus to create a gale while wearing the crown, he lacked Calypso's precision.

When the ship finally sank with a deep thud, making the earth tremble, the pirates were already swallowing hard, no matter how many supernatural things they saw, it didn't seem to rid them of fear and awe, especially when it was used on such a large scale.

"You guys stay here, I'm going to take a look." Rigel said, moving forward quickly.

Calypso was the only one who followed him, Elizabeth tried, but a look from Rigel made her give a nervous laugh and turn away. Of course, Jack was still 'perched' on his shoulder.

The pair boarded the ship, which had a distinct smell of decaying wood. Luckily, Rigel is light and has tough skin now. He misstepped, and his leg was nearly impaled by a broken piece of wood. His skin held up, but for someone else, it could have been very dangerous.

The moment they arrived at the captain's cabin, Rigel looked at all that treasure with indifferent eyes, at that point, gold and silver had lost Rigel's interest.

The interesting thing was that in the place where the captain's skeleton should have been, lying on his bed, only ashes remained.

Rigel paused, confused for a moment, before remembering something, when he broke the trident, he had probably ended Juan Ponce de León's curse.

Shaking his head, he stopped caring about it, Jack had already jumped off his shoulder, excited by the treasure. It was clear to everyone that Jack was still drawn to treasure.

Sure, he's a monkey, he doesn't need money, it's probably just something he learned from Barbossa, Rigel didn't ask, instead he bent down and went under the bed to get a small chest with the chalices.

Taking it out of there, he opened it, yes, two silver chalices of Cartagena.

"Now you also have the chalices..." Calypso said, bending down and looking at them. Her interest was minimal, but she seemed pleased that Rigel had achieved his goal. "And now? Straight to the fountain of youth?"

"Yes." Rigel nodded. He had the tears, the criminals, and the chalice, but the next moment, he looked at the treasure, thoughtful. Well, he wasn't very interested, but in the end, treasure is treasure.

Rigel thought about how to carry the treasure, his bag had no space for it all. Finally, he had an idea, this is a ship, right?

In that case, the power of the crown could shrink it.

So, Rigel took Calypso and Jack outside. Before putting on the crown, the divine power made the crew take a step back, terrified. The next moment, the Santiago began to shrink rapidly.

It took only a few seconds for a broken small ship to appear in Rigel's hands. He could collect the treasure in the future, for now, he used one of the bottles he kept for situations like this to store the ship.

With that done, the crew continued their journey.
