Chapter 87 - Chap.86 - Calypso's change

Ragnarok advanced swiftly across the sea again, this time the crew was more restrained. The two zombies were destroyed by Rigel with Diabolus after they returned covered in blood. Seeing the result, the crew saw a side of Rigel they rarely saw, a merciless side.

Rigel didn't consider himself a good person, but he wasn't a bad person either, he could kill someone in cold blood one moment and give a piece of bread to someone starving the next.

He followed what he believed was right, this was a lesson for those idiotic subordinates, a lesson he hoped they would remember and not make the same mistake again.

Those who lost the gold, that's all they got, Rigel didn't help them recover it, nor did he give them any more. Losing the fruits of their labor in recent weeks was the appropriate punishment.

The dead, on the other hand, also remained dead, Rigel helped them take their revenge before destroying their bodies.

In the end, except for Elizabeth, jumping around as usual, the others became quieter to varying degrees.

"Is it difficult to be a leader?" At the bow, while Rigel watched the sea, Calypso appeared randomly as always, asking in a soft, curious voice.

Rigel grunted, he hadn't felt much from the event, at most it was a little uncomfortable, he was already focused on the fountain of youth.

However, having lost his concentration while listening to Calypso, he looked at the woman with narrowed eyes.

In recent weeks, Calypso had been... well, not Calypso.

She seemed gentler and less intrusive, even stopping acting shamelessly around him, although she still slept almost naked.

This made Rigel very pleased for a while, but also apprehensive.

He was used to regular Calypso, this version, to be honest, was giving him the creeps.

She looked so different that Rigel began to formulate all sorts of strange reasons for this change, however, the most obvious fact was that she was trying to get closer to him with a different approach.

Rigel had to admit, it was working.

She helped when she could, spoke normally, respected his personal space, and didn't follow him everywhere like a clingy lunatic.

Aside from random appearances during moments of reflection, she didn't even make him sing with her again.

Sometimes she would just hum something, something soft, gentle, calming his body and mind.

It was very calm for a while, but Rigel had a nagging feeling that he couldn't shake off, was it Calypso? Was she being sincere? Or was it just another way of pretending to get closer to him?

He couldn't tell, so he felt increasingly contradictory towards the woman.

Calypso also sighed inwardly, seeing Rigel's brief sideways glance, she finally understood that Rigel was not like the other men she had known until then.

Trying to get closer to him through direct seduction would only push him further away from her, the boy was incredibly distrustful. Even now, he treated her better than before, but there was still a clinical distance between them.

Calypso shook her head, she could only work little by little, changing his impression of her. In the meantime, Calypso also noticed the changes in herself. For her, it was still just a game. After that man, Calypso vowed never to love again.

She couldn't even explain how her feelings for Rigel had grown so much, from interest to passion to obsession, and now she found herself relishing his presence, he was the strangest mortal she had ever seen.

In the end, Calypso didn't say anything again, the two continued to enjoy the view of the sea in silence as Ragnarok advanced through the waves.

[A/N:My friends, I made a mistake. While writing the part about the fountain of youth, I realized that the fountain of youth was on the same island as Whitecap Bay. I didn't remember this at the time. Now, I'm not going to rewrite all the previous chapters, so here's what I'm going to do. Now they are different locations. Lmao.]

Rigel didn't have a map to find the fountain of youth, but what he did have was a compass that pointed straight there.

Rigel also caught several heinous criminals with his compass in Tortuga, it was very easy to find them there. They filled the newly formed cells inside Ragnarok, and fortunately, Jormun could freely change his internal space.

The journey to the island took several days. Rigel had already grown accustomed to life at sea, but since boredom was a constant occurrence, he spent as much time as he could sleeping in his coffin, practicing his magic, especially Fiendfyre.

The results remained mixed, his control was already sufficient to keep the initial flames calm enough not to attack him, but as soon as they began to accumulate "fuel", whether it was Rigel increasing magical output or the flames managing to burn the surroundings, Rigel quickly lost control.

Although the coffin dealt with the mental trauma caused by the practice, the practice itself was anything but fun for Rigel.

He even had the idea of practicing the Patronus Charm for a while, he discovered that compared to the initial weak mist, he could produce much more mist, although he still hadn't managed to give his Patronus a shape.

He felt it wasn't due to proficiency in the spell, with Diabolus as his guide, that part was easier. The problem was his emotions, he still couldn't feel enough "joy", even considering the good memories he had created in this world, something was still missing.

He needed something that would touch him deeply inside, unfortunately he didn't have that yet.

In the moments when he emerged from the coffin, Calypso was always there, she seemed much better than him at dealing with boredom, even transforming part of Rigel's room into a potion workshop, at least, that's what Rigel believed, with all those macabre things she put there.

Sometimes she would do something simpler, like reading a book by candlelight, then Rigel would leave and she would give him a slight smile before continuing to read.

In those moments, seeing the woman's face slightly illuminated, Rigel found himself staring a little longer than usual, before ignoring her again.

At that moment, everyone was looking at the island that was slowly 'approaching' it.

An island without a name, but what it holds has been coveted by many throughout the ages.

"We've arrived..." Rigel watched the island approach, his compass fixed on that point.

He had the tears of Mermaids, tears shed with positive emotions. He had the heinous criminals, it only remained to be seen if the coffin could handle the effect of the 'curse of greed'.

When the ship docked alongside the island, Rigel brought a large entourage this time.

Calypso, Elizabeth, Will, Pintel, Ragetti, Marty, Cotton, and several other pirate mobs, among them, several pirates tied by their hands with ropes, linked to each other.

The hideous pirates who would serve as sacrifices.

On the first day they made a racket, waking up randomly in an unfamiliar place after drinking themselves to death, they were clearly unhappy, but after being beaten up by Rigel's pirates, they became much quieter.

They didn't know where they were being taken, but having learned their lesson, they were all quiet and with their heads bowed.
