Chapter 73 - Chap.73 - Mermaid's Charm (Gold)

Bonus Chapter [1] - 160 Power Stones

The journey to the Trident was short and the Ragnarok's cargo area was much larger, meaning there was no reason for stops.

Rigel's next objective was the mermaids from beginning to end.

Whether it was for the tears or for Triton's last Sapphire, he needed to go to them.

This meant that Rigel's destination was the infamous Whitecap Bay.

Rigel didn't even need a compass to get there, most pirates knew the place, not because they had been there before, but to stay far away.

The ship accelerated rapidly, according to Anamaria, at that speed, they would arrive there during the night. Rigel, in the meantime, tried to relax, but seemed to have developed PTSD, just like his crew, but instead of fear of monsters, he was afraid of a certain goddess.

Calypso could come and go, and she seemed to love appearing randomly. Although she said goodbye as if he wouldn't see her for a long time, while he slept, she reappeared inside his coffin!

He nearly died of fright and turned into a vampire!

Then he was eating and again he felt an embrace from behind him, he jumped, looking around, but saw nothing.

She was doing it 100% on purpose!

Rigel was going crazy, if he hadn't known that Calypso was just playing with him, he would have fled the sea a long time ago! He might even have given up the rainbow reward and simply completed the mission to get out.

Even so, his nerves were on edge, not even Jormun could stop this woman!

When they finally arrived at Whitecap Bay, Rigel didn't hesitate, being the first to get into a boat to land.

Once he was out of the sea's reach, he finally felt some serenity, but also a certain feeling of longing.

This surprised him and made him frown, Calypso must have cursed him.

The adventure book appeared before Rigel, its pages opening as he wrote.

[You haven't been cursed, Writer, it's the effect of the blessing, being near the sea gives you a sense of security. Abruptly leaving the sea and losing that feeling might cause a sense of loss, but it's temporary.]

Rigel sighed with relief, indeed, although Calypso had irritated him quite a bit, she hadn't done anything to him other than disrespect the boundaries of his personal space, but for a goddess, especially a Greek one, that already demonstrated moderation.

Shaking his head, he saw that the book didn't close, but more words appeared.

[Congratulations writer, for discovering a legendary location, Whitecap Bay.]

[Congratulations on receiving: "Mermaid's Charm (Gold)"]

[Mermaid's Charm (Gold)]

[Type : Ability]

[Effect 1: Charming smile (Passive) -> Permanently increases charm, making the owner more attractive to the opposite sex.]

[Note: The charm cannot be turned off, but the effect is nowhere near that of a Veela, it simply makes the owner more pleasing to the eye, like a normal beautiful person.]

[Effect 2: Mermaid's voice (Passive) -> When singing, the owner charm skyrockets enormously, the voice also becomes particularly beautiful, and the owner can hit exactly the tones he wants.]

[Note: Yes, if the owner sings, he will be even more attractive than a Veela, the owner must be careful when singing.]

[This Ability can be stored in the Adventure Book, absorbed, or given to someone else, which do you choose, writer?]

Rigel stared at the book for a long moment, his brow furrowed in thought.

This Ability is not useless, in fact, in his future adventure worlds, having such a skill could prove useful in unexpected ways.

"Hey, book, if I absorb this, I really won't start attracting women as a twisted version of Veela, right?" He confirmed again.

[No, it will just look better, of course, as long as you don't sing, if you sing, you might end up 'bewitching' even men.]

Rigel shuddered, but thought for a moment, he really wasn't much of a singer, that ability could be useful, but also dangerous. However, as long as he didn't sing out of turn, everything would be fine.

In the end, he hadn't decided yet, keeping it stored in the book for a moment of need, he didn't need to accept it now, he hadn't even attached the ballista to the ship because Calypso was always watching.

If his charm increases now, won't that make that crazy woman push herself against him with even more force?

Rigel decided to wait!

Elizabeth, Anamaria, and Anna came with him.

Rigel left the men on board, moored at a distance, he didn't want to cause trouble with the mermaids, so he figured that taking only women would be easier to accept.

Will didn't like Elizabeth walking around without him in such a dangerous place, but she just rolled her eyes at him before jumping into the boat.

Anna seemed more curious than anything else, life at sea had been unexpectedly easy to adapt to, without the constant fear of Dracula that she experienced every moment in her village. The blue sea seemed incredibly liberating, and encountering mermaids made her even more curious, even though they were described as monsters in women's skin. Having Rigel nearby reassured her about that.

Anamaria was the most nervous among them, having grown up hearing stories of pirates. Even though she was a woman, Anamaria didn't think the mermaids would spare her just because of that. Although Rigel was nearby, she didn't have Elizabeth's self-destructive desire for adventure, nor the calm created by living in fear of a monster in "her backyard" like Anna. So she continued staring at the sea, swallowing hard.

"Come on, let's attract some mermaids." Rigel said, moving towards the lighthouse. Elizabeth followed Rigel quickly, excited. Anna just walked normally while Anamaria took one last look at the water, following them soon after.

The smell at the top of the lighthouse was repugnant to Rigel, it had a rancid, pungent odor of fish that had spent the day in the sun, it was whale fat.

Rigel frowned, waving his wand to clean the area, but the smell still lingered. He thought he needed to learn a spell to dispel the odor in the future.

The women, on the other hand, were not as 'fussy' as Rigel, even Elizabeth completely ignored the smell, looking around the tall tower.

For a moment, Rigel felt as if he were the woman here, but setting aside his 'macho' thoughts for a moment, he gave up on turning on the headlights, if the smell was so bad with just the whale fat stored, it would be even worse with the fat lit.

Instead, he spoke. "Elizabeth, step back. You three don't look directly to that side, it's better to turn your head or cover your eyes."

Elizabeth was excited for a moment, but seeing Rigel's serious look, she nodded, taking a few steps back to stand with Anna and Anamaria.

Rigel saw that they had turned around, finally he picked up his wand and pointed it at the sea.

"Lumos Maxima!" He said, and in the next moment, a strong beam of light struck the sea directly.

Even in Ragnarok, the pirates had to close their eyes hastily.

The light was very strong and continuous, Rigel rapidly polarized the beam, transforming it into a lighthouse-like beam that reached the sea.

This should attract the mermaids.
