Lukas saw the dialogues about how Bob had awakened with an S level ability.
He rolled his eyes at what he saw.
Can't these game makers get more creative?
They must have gotten some failed web novel writers to write the script for this. He thought silently to himself.
He selected his character and tried to move her with the good old 'WASD' keys on his keyboard.
It worked and Emma began to move according to his control.
He controlled her to the stage but was stopped by the man standing at the stairs.
"Stop and wait for your turn!" The dialogue box appeared on top of the man, and Lukas was surprised when he saw a text input box appearing after that.
Wow.
They must have used AI for the interactive system with the NPCs. He thought.
Lukas clicked on the text input box and began typing.
"Stop wasting my time, I will get an SSS Level ability."
He typed and pressed on the enter key of his keyboard.
Lukas was sure of it since the title was SSS rank something.
It would be false advertising to him if Emma didn't awaken with something that was SSS rank.
Inside the stadium, Emma's heart sank when her mouth moved against her will, and she spoke the exact same words as what Lukas had typed.
Much to the astonishment of everyone around.
Tears welled in her eyes but didn't drop.
She was under the control of someone, but she couldn't see who it was.
Panic and fear struck her, but she couldn't do anything.
Emma wasn't able to move a single muscle of hers, and she was at the mercy of this higher being that had taken over control of her body.
The students surrounding her and the guard at the stairs to the awakening stage couldn't help but laugh at her when they realized what she had said.
They didn't know what had gotten into her to be so rude and brash today.
She had always been quiet and courteous in class, but just now, she had said the most words they'd heard from her in the past year.
And those words were the most ridiculous they'd ever heard from her or anyone else.
The odds of getting an SSS Level ability were one out of thousands.
And there weren't even a few hundred students ready for the awakening process in their cohort.
What made her think that she would be the chosen one?
Tsk.
Some of the male students shook their heads at her and thought that they'd been misled by her after so many years.
To think that there was such a side to the usually quiet girl in class.
As the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover — this became true to them after witnessing what she had said.
Emma wanted to kill herself on the spot with what was going on around her.
Her whole life was crumbling down around her, and she couldn't do anything about it.
Finally, the student that was supposed to go up to the awakening stage next gave her a smirk and said, "I can let her go first if you want to."
"Heh. Judy, don't act as if you are benevolent; you think we don't know that you can't wait to see Emma cry?" The other students shook their heads and said.
"Don't pretend to be holier than thou.
"Just say the word, are you willing to let her go first." Judy didn't bother with the other students and retorted.
She was right, and all of them nodded their heads and agreed to let Emma go first.
They were indeed eager to see a good show to distract themselves from their own anxieties.
Lukas nodded his head at what he was seeing.
"Ah. The good old antagonist to rile up the emotions of the player."
It was a setup as old as he could remember, and he clicked on the guard at the stairs to trigger the next interaction.
The dialogue box appeared on top of the guard's head with the words, "I can let her go first since all of you agreed."
Emma wasn't ready, and she was desperately trying to cry out inside, but could only watch when her mouth moved and said, "We could've saved so much time without going through all of this."
Lukas typed in the dialogue as he was eager to see how the battle system was.
He anticipated that after getting awakened and having the awakening ability, there would be a tutorial fight for him to get through to learn about the battle system.
And as a veteran game player, he didn't have much patience for all of it.
He could see the appeal of the whole setup for new players, but it was already beyond him.
The crowd in the spectator seats didn't know what was happening when they saw the commotion that was going on.
They started to jeer as they were still high from the person getting the S Level Earth Ability.
It was a rare occasion for Brentwood City that someone was able to attain an S Level ability.
The last time it happened was a few decades ago.
And that person was sitting at the VIP podium right now.
Riley, who was now old and had gray hair, sat in his seat and checked with his men on what had happened.
His men told him what had transpired, and he chuckled.
Riley nodded and approved of it.
He was also eager to see what this young woman was up to.
"Who is this young lady called Emma? Someone please go and get me her information."
The lady, Margaret, who was the principal of the Awaken High School sitting beside him, pointed at her subordinate and shouted.
It was an honor for Riley to grace them at the awakening ceremony, and yet such things had happened out of the blue.
She smiled apologetically at Riley and said, "I apologize for the commotion."
But Riley wasn't affected.
He turned around, glanced at her, and gave her a smile, "Don't worry, I like things to be interesting."
Riley leaned forward and watched as Emma walked up the stage.
"Next!" Shouted the staff member in charge of the awakening in the middle of the stage at Emma.
