Chapter 188 - Chapter 186

## Chapter 186

The shuttle's engines hummed quietly as it descended toward the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. The city beneath them was a mosaic of lights and motion, towering spires of commerce and governance reflecting off the clouds like polished metal. I sat upright in the command seat, letting the Force guide my awareness as the craft's autopilot took us to the landing platform. Beside me, Ethan monitored comm traffic silently, his optics glowing faintly.

"General Dagon," came a calm voice from the rear of the cabin. I turned slightly to see Master Fisto, green-skinned and still coated in the subtle grime of battle, seated beside Yoda, whose tiny frame seemed undisturbed by the chaos that had followed our fleet across Boz Pity, Mygeeto, and Muunilinst. "We managed to recover Dac early," Fisto continued, "thanks to the Separatists' retreat. The younglings and captured personnel are secure."

I nodded, letting a slight exhale escape. The tension from the previous battles still lingered in my shoulders. "Good work, Master. The Republic fleet owes you and the other returning Jedi a great debt. I wish the circumstances had been less… destructive."

Yoda's eyes, sharp and unyielding, regarded me from his small frame. "Hmmm. Destruction, necessary it was, yes? Difficult to see, the path you walked, but clear your actions now are. Allies saved, losses minimized." His voice was slow, deliberate, each word carrying weight.

"Yes, Master," I replied, careful not to betray the full extent of what had occurred. I left out the Force techniques, the dark edges that had allowed me to shape the battlefield and bend enemies to chaos. Only what mattered for the Council: victories, rescued Jedi, captured worlds. "Allied forces secured, the Separatist presence in the sectors we engaged has been neutralized or driven into retreat. Our remaining troops are in good order, and all prisoners are under Republic control."

Fisto inclined his head. "It is… impressive, General. And yet," he added, a faint worry flickering across his features, "your report does not mention… anything extraordinary about the battlefield itself. No details of how the fighting unfolded?"

I smiled faintly, almost apologetically. "The details of the combat itself are not necessary for the Council. The results speak for themselves. The Republic now holds Muunilinst, the outer rim systems are stabilized, and the captured personnel are secure. That is the essential information."

Yoda tapped his cane lightly against the floor of the shuttle. "Hmm. Results, yes. But wary we must remain. A General who acts… differently, yes. Powerful in combat, yes. Cautious, remain, hmm?"

"I understand, Master Yoda," I said. "I have not overstepped, nor do I intend to. My priority is the Republic, and the Jedi under my command."

The shuttle touched down gently on the platform, landing with only a soft shudder. The sound of Coruscant's bustling streets filtered through the airlock as we disembarked. Jedi Temple guards greeted us, eyes wide but disciplined, sensing the aura of someone who had emerged from battle unscathed yet weathered.

In the council chamber, the three of us took our places: Yoda on his elevated dais, Fisto beside him, and Palpatine in his usual seat of authority, leaning slightly forward, hands folded. I entered the center, mindful of posture and presence, and began the briefing.

"Chancellor," I started, "the recent engagements have concluded successfully. Our forces secured Boz Pity, Mygeeto, and Muunilinst, and the Separatist fleets have retreated from these sectors. Jedi and Republic personnel previously trapped behind enemy lines have been rescued. Our tactical units suffered minimal losses, and we captured significant enemy materiel for analysis and future defense purposes."

Palpatine's eyes narrowed slightly, a subtle flicker of curiosity in his gaze. "And the… specifics of the combat?" he asked, voice smooth, measured.

I remained calm. "The specifics are operational details, Chancellor. All forces under my command performed with precision. Planetary defenses neutralized, enemy command structures dismantled, and civilians largely unharmed due to our coordinated strikes. Any casualties were primarily enemy combatants and droid forces."

Fisto stepped in. "And the Jedi personnel? All accounted for?"

"Yes," I replied, allowing just a hint of relief in my tone. "All Jedi recovered. Masters Ki-Adi-Mundi, Shaak Ti, Aayla Secura, and Sha'a Gi were rescued and are now receiving medical attention in the Temple. Their condition is stable."

Yoda leaned forward, eyes narrowing. "Hmm. Careful, General Dagon, we must remain. Report you have, complete it is. But shadows, always present they are. Disturbances, yes. Watchful, remain we will."

"I understand, Masters," I said, bowing slightly. "I am prepared to continue coordinating with Republic and Jedi forces, and to ensure that all remaining Separatist forces are pursued and neutralized where necessary."

Palpatine's gaze shifted, just enough for a subtle weight to settle in the room. "Excellent. General Dagon, your diligence and efficiency have not gone unnoticed. The reports submitted by your subordinates and by yourself reflect a series of precise and decisive actions. The Senate will be informed accordingly. I trust that your next instructions will align with maintaining Republic stability and ensuring the safety of the Core and Outer Rim systems."

I inclined my head. "As you command, Chancellor. My priority is ensuring the Republic retains control and stability, and that all Jedi and Republic personnel are protected."

Yoda spoke last, his voice deliberate and calm, yet firm. "Hmm. Good, the progress is. Watch carefully, we will. Dagon, continue your vigilance. Always learning, always aware. The path ahead, uncertain it may be, but strong your guidance appears."

Fisto added quietly, almost as an afterthought, "And we will support, General. Your leadership, tested it has been. Proven, it is. But cautious, we all must remain."

The session concluded, and I took a moment to glance around the chamber. The familiar weight of the Council's eyes on me was not discomforting—rather, it was a reminder of the responsibility I bore. Outside, Coruscant stretched in all directions, a city of lights and politics, of victories and unseen threats. The battles I had fought were behind me, yet the war itself was far from over.

As I left the chamber, escorted by Ethan and Fisto, I allowed myself a brief moment to feel the pulse of the Force around me, steadying myself for what was yet to come.
