Ivy's pov
"What do you mean by that?" I asked in confusion, my eyes moving between both of them as tension thickened heavily inside the hallway.
"Look at this!" Nicholas's mother suddenly yelled, throwing the folded paper directly against my chest.
The parchment struck me before falling toward the floor, but before I could even bend to pick it up, Nicholas moved instantly.
"That won't be necessary."
His voice came out cold and controlled as he snatched the paper from my hands and tore it cleanly into pieces without even bothering to read it first.
My eyes widened in disbelief.
But it was already too late.
His mother had exposed enough.
Kidnapped?
The word echoed violently inside my mind as I stood there frozen and confused all at once. Elena had been kidnapped? By my father? Why would he do something so reckless? What could possibly push him far enough to openly challenge Nicholas Vault of all people? That wasn't bravery. That sounded closer to suicide.
