Chapter 41 - The World That Only Exists For You

The warm water had long been turned off, the steam slowly fading from the air, leaving behind only the scent of soap and damp skin. He had wrapped her in the softest towel, drying her with a tenderness that bordered on reverence, his touch light, careful, as if she were made of the finest glass that might shatter if he pressed too hard. But as he helped her into her silk robe and led her back toward the bed, the atmosphere shifted. The softness remained in his actions, but his eyes—those warm, beautiful eyes—had darkened, glistening with a depth of obsession so vast it felt like stepping into an abyss.

He sat her down gently on the edge of the mattress, kneeling before her, his hands resting lightly on her knees, his thumbs stroking slow, rhythmic circles against her skin. He looked up at her, his gaze unwavering, intense, drinking in every detail of her face as if he were memorizing a sacred text.

"Do you know," he began, his voice low, calm, and terrifyingly steady, "that everything I do, every breath I take, every thought in my head... it all revolves around you? There is nothing else. There is no sky, no sun, no people, no cities... none of it is real unless it involves you. The whole world is just a backdrop. A stage built only to hold you."

He leaned forward, his hands sliding up her thighs, coming to rest over her hips, pulling her slightly closer until their faces were level. His expression was soft, sweet even, but the words that fell from his lips were coated in a thick, heavy madness.

"You have to understand, my love... I see things differently than everyone else. To me, you aren't just a person. You are the reason existence happens. And because you are so perfect, so precious... everything else is automatically worthless. Disposable. Dangerous. Because anything that isn't you is a threat. Anything or anyone that could possibly take your attention away from me, or worse—harm you, or take you away... they are my enemies."

He smiled, a gentle, affectionate curve of his lips, and tucked a strand of damp hair behind her ear, his fingers lingering against her jaw, tracing the line of her throat.

"I watched you today, you know. Even when I wasn't right next to you. I see how people look at you. I see how their eyes follow you. It makes me... sick. It makes my blood boil so hot I think I might burn alive from it. Because they don't deserve to see you. They don't deserve to even know you exist. They are filthy, insignificant things, and the fact that they dare to breathe the same air as you... it makes me want to destroy them. All of them. If I could, I would scoop you up and take you somewhere where no one else ever existed. Just us. Forever."

His thumb brushed over her pulse point, pressing just enough to feel the steady thrum of her life beneath his skin, his eyes never leaving hers.

"I would kill for you. I will kill for you. Without hesitation. Without regret. If someone speaks to you too loudly, or looks at you for a second too long, or makes you uncomfortable... they are gone. I won't tell you, because I don't want you to be upset, but believe me... they vanish. I've already done it. And I'd do it a thousand times over. I'd paint the whole world red if it meant keeping you safe, keeping you mine."

He moved closer, pressing his forehead gently against hers, his voice dropping to a whisper that vibrated straight into her bones.

"Sometimes... when I hold you like this, when I feel how soft you are, how fragile... I get these thoughts. Dark thoughts. I think about how easy it would be to break your legs. Just a little snap, nothing too painful, just enough so you can't walk. So you can't run. So you have to rely entirely on me to carry you everywhere. You'd never leave the house. You'd never leave my side. You'd look at no one else, speak to no one else, because you wouldn't need anyone else. I'd take care of every single thing for you. I'd feed you, bathe you, dress you, hold you... you'd be completely mine, body and soul, unable to ever stray even an inch away from me."

He kissed her nose, sweetly, tenderly, as if he hadn't just described trapping her in physical agony.

"And sometimes... I think about your eyes. How beautiful they are. How they look at things that aren't me. It makes me so angry I can barely breathe. I think... if I took them. Just a little surgery, painless, I promise. If you couldn't see anything but darkness... then I would be your entire world. I would be your sight, your sound, your touch, your taste. You wouldn't even know there was an outside world. You wouldn't want to know. You would only know me. And isn't that romantic? Isn't that the purest form of love? To be everything to the person you adore?"

His hands moved to cup her face, holding her gently but firmly, ensuring she couldn't look away. His pupils were blown wide, swallowing the iris, making his gaze bottomless.

"I know it sounds crazy. I know normal people don't think like this. But normal people don't love like I do. Normal people don't need like I do. I am not like everyone else. I am yours. Completely. Irrevocably. And because I belong to you... you must belong to me. It is a law. It is the only truth."

He brushed his lips against hers, soft as silk, his voice trembling with the intensity of his devotion.

"You will never leave me. You can't. Even if you wanted to... I wouldn't let you. I'd chain you to the bed. I'd lock all the doors and board up the windows. I'd tear down the walls of the world if I had to, just to make sure there was nowhere for you to go except into my arms. And if... gods forbid... if you ever tried to leave, if you ever looked at another man with even a fraction of the love you give to me... I don't know what I'd do. I'd probably kill him first. Slowly. Painfully. And then... and then I'd break you. I'd hurt you so badly you'd never be able to walk or talk or think without me ever again. I'd rather have you broken and crying and completely dependent on me than whole and happy with anyone else."

He pulled back slightly, looking deep into her eyes, his expression filled with absolute, terrifying sincerity.

"Or... if it came down to it... if I couldn't have you... if you truly tried to slip away... I'd kill you. I'd put you to sleep so peacefully you wouldn't even feel it. And then I'd kill myself. Because I can't exist in a world where you aren't mine. I can't breathe air that you aren't breathing. If I don't have you, there is no point in anything. We'd be together forever in death, just like we were meant to be in life. No one could separate us then. No one could ever take you from me again."

He smiled, radiant, beautiful, and utterly insane, and kissed her forehead, lingering there, his arms wrapping around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest, trapping her in an embrace that was warm, loving, and absolutely inescapable.

"Don't ever forget it, my sweet. You are mine. My possession. My life. My soul. And I will do anything—anything—to keep it that way. This is love. This is our love. And nothing... absolutely nothing... will ever come between us."
