Alex winced as the bright sunlight hit her eyes. She stumbled out of the hotel room, phone in hand, and collapsed onto the balcony overlooking the beach. The ocean breeze did little to calm her racing thoughts.
Mia's texts kept coming: "WHY DIDN'T YOU INVITE ME?! š”" followed by "Spill. The. Tea."
Alex sighed and dialed Mia's number. It rang once before Mia answered with, "You're dead to me."
"Hey, it wasn't planned!" Alex defended, laughing awkwardly.
"Not planned? You got MARRIED without me?!" Mia's voice was a mix of hurt and amusement.
Alex glanced back at Jamie, still snoozing. "It just... happened."
Mia snorted. "Just happened. With a ring and a questionable Elvis impersonator?"
Alex groaned. "Can you please just come over and help me navigate this?"
"On my way. Don't do anything else stupid without me," Mia said before hanging up.
As Alex turned back to the room, Jamie stirred, rubbing his eyes. "Morning, wife," he said with a sleepy grin.
