Chapter 5 - God Touch

But Ethan's vision wasn't fully focused.

He tightened his grip on the wyvern's wing, hissing through his teeth.

"Why don't I have it all?"

His breathing was becoming weaker.

"Why don't I have the ability?"

He forced his eyes open and focused on the notification screen floating before him.

"What the hell is this?"

Suddenly, the Bloodfang Wyvern reacted.

It was as if something had passed through its body and been pulled out of it.

The wyvern raised its wing and violently slammed it sideways.

BOOM!

Ethan was thrown backward and slammed into the wall.

"GAH!"

He coughed up blood.

His body fell to the ground.

He lay there, trembling, before forcing himself to cough again.

"What the hell…?"

He looked down at his stomach.

"It's like I can't anymore…"

He whispered to himself.

"There's already a hole in my stomach, and I'm still moving…"

The Bloodfang Wyvern slowly approached him.

It opened its enormous mouth wide.

A faint flicker of light appeared inside.

But then…

Nothing.

The brilliant flame that should have formed inside its mouth didn't appear.

The wyvern paused.

It seemed confused.

It opened its mouth again.

Still nothing.

Then, suddenly

Another notification appeared before Ethan's eyes.

[Ability: Bloodfang]

[Ability taken.]

[User has gained the ability to use his own blood to heal himself.]

Ethan's eyes widened.

Another notification appeared.

[User has gained the ability to use fire magic.]

Then another.

[User has gained Flight Ability.]

A tiny flame suddenly appeared behind Ethan.

It flickered for a moment before spreading across his back.

Then it wrapped around his body and disappeared into him.

The Bloodfang Wyvern stared at Ethan in shock.

Something was wrong.

The creature suddenly charged toward him.

Its jaws opened wide, its sharp teeth ready to bite Ethan apart.

Ethan slowly stepped backward.

His body trembled as he forced himself upright.

Then he paused.

He looked down at his stomach.

The wound…

It was gone.

His injury had completely closed.

Another notification appeared.

[Bloodfang ability activated.]

[User's blood level is critically low.]

[80% of the user's remaining blood has been consumed to activate Bloodfang's healing effect.]

[Healing in progress…]

[Healing complete.]

[Warning: User's blood level has surpassed critical state.]

Ethan's eyes widened.

"Blood…?"

He slowly stepped backward.

The wyvern continued approaching.

Ethan couldn't even process what was happening.

He turned around and started running.

But his body couldn't keep up.

His vision began fading.

His legs gave out.

He fell forward and slammed face first into the ground.

His eyes slowly began to close.

Everything became dark.

But just before he completely lost consciousness, Ethan saw something glowing beneath him.

A magic circle.

A teleportation circle.

His blurry eyes widened slightly.

It was a circle that led directly to the final floor of the dungeon.

Ethan stared at it for a few seconds.

Then his eyes finally closed.

He completely passed out.
