Chapter 7 - The First Test

Ethan touched his head.

He looked at his body.

Blood had spewed all over his clothes.

He looked down at his stomach.

There wasn't even a single injury.

He slowly started walking around.

"This place feels vastly empty."

After walking for a while, he reached a huge door.

He slowly raised both of his hands and pushed it open.

"It looks like a teleportation"

"The teleportation circle teleported me into a vastly empty room, but this place has a wooden floor."

The moment he stepped out, the door shut by itself.

Ethan raised his hand.

"I remember it so clearly."

"So, so clearly."

"Let me check my stats."

He paused.

"Again, what's even the need for that?"

"No."

"I can use fire magic now, but I'm not even sure I can try it."

Ethan looked to the side.

Then he heard footsteps.

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM.

Something huge was walking.

It was as if the entire place was shaking with every step.

"Just what the hell?"

Ethan turned around.

His mouth dropped wide open.

"Isn't that a"

His eyes widened.

"Lord Minotaur?"

"An A-rank?"

"Just what floor am I on?"

He stared at the creature in disbelief.

"The floor I was in before was already so dangerous."

"They tried to kill me."

"Even the Bloodfang Wyvern wasn't supposed to be there."

"But now"

"It's like I've been thrown into an even lower floor."

Ethan quickly turned around.

His eyes landed on the door that had closed behind him.

"The door"

He rushed toward it and started pushing it, trying to make it open.

"Come on!"

The door didn't move.

Behind him stood the enormous Lord Minotaur.

Its huge horns protruded from its head.

It tilted its head slightly.

A deep growl came from its mouth.

Smoke and fog came out of its nostrils.

Its massive axe rested on its shoulder.

Then it raised one enormous hand.

Ethan slowly turned around.

"Just what the hell is this?"

He stared at the Lord Minotaur.

"By now"

"I just survived a disaster."

His expression became tense.

"And now the worst part"

"I'm about to face a Lord Minotaur."

The Lord Minotaur paused.

It looked at Ethan.

Then

BOOM!

It slammed its foot onto the ground and raised its massive axe backward.

The Minotaur threw its entire body forward as it launched the axe toward Ethan.

WHOOSH!

The axe flew through the air.

It was precise.

Extremely precise and accurate.

The axe came straight toward Ethan.

He quickly jumped away from the door.

BOOM!

The axe slammed into the massive, brick like dungeon door.

The impact shook the entire area, but the door didn't fully break open.

Ethan immediately rolled away from the axe.

He jumped backward, bounced off the ground, and landed firmly on his feet.

The Lord Minotaur moved forward.

It raised its arm and grabbed the axe, pulling it away from the door.

"Just what do I do?"

Ethan stared at it.

"Do I have to panic?"

He clenched his fists.

"I know better than anyone."

"I finally have its skills."

"What do I do?"

He looked at his hand.

"Why can't I just use my fire ability?"

"Would it even be strong enough?"

"Ah!"

Ethan suddenly raised his arm.

"Fire!"

He shouted.

The Lord Minotaur paused.

It looked at Ethan.

But nothing appeared in his hand.

Ethan froze.

"Nothing?"

The Lord Minotaur suddenly charged toward him.

It raised its massive axe and swung it toward Ethan.

Ethan quickly jumped sideways.

But the gigantic Lord Minotaur was far too fast.

The creature, standing nearly fifteen feet tall, raised its leg.

Then

BOOM!

It kicked Ethan.

"GAH!"

Ethan's body was launched into the air.

He coughed out blood as he flew backward.

His eyes widened.

BOOM!

His back slammed directly into the dungeon wall.

A huge crack spread across the wall.

The place where Ethan's back had struck was deeply pressed into the wall.

His body slowly slid down.

He dropped to his knees.

He was completely breathless, panting heavily.

"Shorty"

He struggled to breathe.

"What's going on?"

He lowered his head.

"Did I just survive?"

"Am I going to die again?"

He slowly raised his head.

"No."

A smile slowly appeared on his face.

"I was really terrified."

He let out a shaky breath.

"I can't stop shaking."

"I can't even fully process everything that has just happened."

He looked down at his body.

"I landed on my back."

"That was a kick strong enough to cripple me if I had been slammed into the wall."

He slowly moved his body.

"But"

"It doesn't even hurt that much."

Ethan smiled.

"This is because of the Bloodfang ability."

He slowly stood up.

"This time"

He raised his arm.

"The fire ability."

Ethan began visualizing flames forming in his hand.

Nothing happened.

He concentrated harder.

Still nothing.

The Lord Minotaur looked at him.

Then it started running toward him.

It raised its axe, preparing to slash Ethan.

Ethan's hand remained raised.

Nothing.

Still nothing.

"Come on"

He concentrated even harder.

The Lord Minotaur came closer.

Its axe was already raised.

Ethan suddenly jumped sideways.

At that moment

A flame began forming around his hand.

Ethan's eyes widened.

"Yes!"

The fire rapidly grew.

A huge blast of fire suddenly formed in his hand and shot toward the Lord Minotaur.

BOOM!

The fire struck the Minotaur directly in the chest.

The flames exploded.

Smoke immediately filled the air.

The Lord Minotaur was pushed backward by the blast.

Ethan stared through the smoke.

Slowly, the smoke began to clear.

The Lord Minotaur stood there.

Ethan's smile faded.

There wasn't even a single scratch on its body.

His smile disappeared completely.

Then it slowly returned.

"Finally"

He clenched his fist.

"That's the first ability I've actually used."

Ethan smiled.

"Now"

"Why don't I test my God Touch ability?"

He raised both hands and stared into the smoke.

The Lord Minotaur was still barely within it.
