The guard's lips stopped moving, and his body became heavy. Riven unwrapped the chains around his neck and his body fell to the ground with a loud thud.
He stared at the motionless body for a heartbeat and whispered.
"He is dead."
As he stared at the corpse, he heard a metallic sound from behind him. In a heartbeat, he turned around and saw a sword closing in on his heart.
He looked beyond the flying sword — he saw the other guard standing near a pile of weapons he had thrown at him and his lips were slowly opening.
The guard was going to speak… He had an idea of what the guard was going to say — he was probably going to call for reinforcements.
Riven didn't want to take the risk. He slid under the blade, dodging the incoming attack, then dashed towards the Vrekhar. Before the guard could even speak, he tightly gripped his face completely covering his mouth.
He could hear the guard's jawbones cracking under the pressure.
Without wasting time, he grabbed one of the axes lying on the ground then he drove it into his chest. The guard opened his mouth behind his palm but he pressed his hand down with even more force.
Unexpectedly, the guard bit his hand and he felt teeth sinking into his flesh. Riven gritted his teeth. It hurt but he tolerated it.
Then the guard's body began to twitch violently as blood leaked out from the area around the wound.
A heartbeat later, the guard's body went still. He stared at it for a moment then he turned to the corpse of the other guard and mumbled.
"I need to hide their bodies."
Riven didn't want anyone else to know about the presence of a hostile entity just yet. So this was a must. He looked around him and saw a large empty cart, the edges of the cart were tall enough to block anyone from seeing what was inside.
He grabbed one of the corpses by the shoulder and carried it towards the cart. Then he threw the corpse into the cart — he repeated the same process for the other corpses.
Riven rushed towards the entrance, stepping inside the building. As he ran through the corridor, he saw torches hanging from the walls illuminating the corridor.
A heartbeat later, he saw not two but four armed guards in front of him — they hadn't noticed him just yet but it wouldn't be long before they did.
Riven took a deep breath and began to channel his mana in a certain direction and his body began to glow as golden aura engulfed him from head to toe.
A moment later, the aura around his body began to expand until it expanded as far as his eyes could see, swallowing every single Vrekhar.
When it did… he realized that there were not four but six guards in close proximity. He was certain that after this the entire base would know about the hostile presence since he knew he couldn't restrain them fast enough.
Then chains began to manifest between his palms, but before he could throw them, the guards finally noticed him. He saw their faces becoming pale as they felt his presence and pressure.
A voice echoed throughout the corridor.
"Awakened Human Warriors have infiltrated! Inform the higher-ups and brace for combat."
It was too late. He sent the chains hurling towards two guards then he manifested more chains and sent them hurling towards the next pair of guards. He repeated this process until a chain was charging towards all guards.
By the time another pair of fresh chains manifested, the ones that he had thrown earlier wrapped tightly around the bodies of their target but it wasn't enough to make them their subjects.
So he manifested more chains and sent them hurling towards them until it was enough for them. The chains wrapped tightly around the chest, legs, arms, and even their skull until only their eyes were visible.
And he saw their eyes slowly becoming hollow then the golden aura exploded from the six places — completely blinding his vision.
When it cleared, he saw the Vrekhar guards kneeling before him. He stared at them for a moment and said.
"Follow me. Attack anyone who is a threat to me."
His subjects nodded and followed him. Every time, he came across another guard — his subjects attacked them and restrained them while he prepared to seal them away.
When the guards were successfully sealed they joined his army making it grow stronger.
As he continued moving forward, he saw a massive gate in front of him — it was so large that it dwarfed him. He looked behind him, staring at his subjects — by now there were ten Vrekhar guards among his ranks.
"Guard the entrance. Don't let anyone in."
His subjects didn't say a word but their silence was them accepting his order. So he walked towards the gate and tried to push it open with all his might but it didn't move an inch.
It was locked… He turned to his subjects and said.
"If any one of you knows how to open the gate. Open it."
One of his subjects stepped forward and approached the gate. The subject inserted a key into a hole he hadn't noticed and turned it. The gate slid open.
Riven didn't waste his time — he immediately stepped inside while his subjects remained outside. He looked all around him and saw countless weapons hanging from the walls. Not only weapons but also armor such as chest plate, helmet and leggings hung from the walls.
And countless weapons were neatly placed near one another on top of hundreds of wooden tables. At the very end of the room, there were what looked like bombs that they used to demolish human buildings.
He stared at it and then took out his pouch. From the pouch, he took out a handful of explosive beads then he put the pouch back.
He channeled mana into the explosive beads and they began to glow. Without wasting his breath, he scattered them across the entire room.
They slammed onto the walls and tables — destroying any weapons that were there.
When they hit the bombs, the bombs exploded with a boom, sending shrapnel flying all around him so he took a step back.
This wasn't even the worst of it. The bomb ignited into a massive fire which grew larger and larger slowly swallowing the entire weapons depot. He could feel the heat of the flame slam onto his skin so he retreated outside.
While he stepped outside he felt a powerful presence far away from him that was very familiar. It was almost as thought he felt this presence not too long ago.
His eyes narrowed as the realization dawned upon him.
"It belongs to Kulvrek."
