GA: Chapter 142: The Celestial Blade Warship Series — The Terrifying Might of the Angel Civilization's Technology
But every world was different, and every world had its own system of power.
In the vast majority of worlds, science and the mystical were never truly equals — one inevitably suppressed the other, and even when the two complemented each other, one was always destined to serve as the supporting force.
Su Yunqing's high-martial world was exactly like that. Technology existed, but the arrival of spiritual energy had altered countless scientific formulas. Simply maintaining the technological framework that had existed before was no longer easy, let alone opening a new path that merged spiritual energy and technology together.
Even in Bai Xuan's world, where spiritual energy hadn't inflicted any significant damage on current technology — and had in fact opened possibilities for combining the two to accelerate new research — he could already see it: for a considerable stretch of the future, technology would exist purely in a supporting role. Cultivation would become the dominant force of this world.
The primary reason for this was simple. Humanity's technology at its current level wasn't strong enough. The mystical system had only just begun — but even at this early stage, the gap between it and existing human technology wasn't enormous.
And this was only the early phase of the spiritual revival. A third and fourth spiritual tide would follow. When those came, both mutated creatures and ability users would reach heights more terrifying than anything seen so far.
To contend with mutated creatures, human civilization would inevitably prioritize ability users over technological development.
Of course — if technology managed to carve out an entirely new path and advance beyond its current foundation, that conclusion would become uncertain. But in all probability, that was still how things would unfold.
After gaining access to the chat group, the angel civilization had come to understand the mystical systems of other worlds.
While maintaining their original scientific research in parallel, they had begun studying these mystical systems as well — attempting to translate them into knowledge that could be comprehended and articulated through the framework of technology.
The process wasn't easy. But they had made meaningful progress.
Chakra, Devil Fruits, and even the Infinity Stones — after brief pauses for study, they had achieved phased breakthroughs in understanding each one.
According to Tenshi Zixin, Celestial Base King Hexi had even discovered information pertaining to the optimization of angel genetics within the structure of the Infinity Stones.
The underlying reason was that the angel civilization's technology had already reached a level capable of analyzing the mystical.
The upper limits of each world's mystical system were formidable — but their fundamentals were their fundamentals. The angel civilization could begin from those fundamentals and derive, extend, and convert what they found into knowledge belonging to the angels.
If not for his exchanges with Tenshi Hikari and Tenshi Zixin, Bai Xuan would never have developed a truly deep impression of just how powerful the angel civilization was.
Because everything he knew about them had come from the animated work. And while the angel civilization as depicted there was powerful, it had never demonstrated particularly staggering destructive capability.
A Divine Body requiring enormous resources to advance — and yet not even capable of destroying a star.
There were hints of devastating technology, but nothing was ever truly shown.
Whether because of narrative requirements, or because the visual effects would have been too expensive to produce — the reason didn't really matter. The result was that many people had come away with a mistaken impression of the angel civilization. The so-called strongest civilization didn't seem all that impressive after all, they thought. Star-destroying at best, maybe a slightly larger celestial body at the extreme end.
The reality was that the angel civilization's scientific capability was far beyond anything the animated work had ever shown.
Destroying a star?
That would barely register.
As the primary warships of the angel civilization — high-end weapons that only angels bearing the Sacred Twin Wings, guardian rank or above, were qualified to pilot — any warship in the Celestial Blade series could reduce the solar system to nothing within a single day.
The Celestial Blade series were instruments of destruction deployed only in nebula-scale conflicts — the most terrifyingly lethal weapons in the civilization's arsenal.
And what constituted a nebula-scale conflict? What scale of war did that imply?
That probably required no further elaboration.
If Bai Xuan was willing, the angel civilization could invest in Earth's civilization — share technology, and help it leave the planet behind in the shortest possible time, achieving scientific capabilities no less than an intermediate cosmic civilization.
From that point, what Earth would need was time — time to absorb the angel civilization's assistance and make it truly its own.
Of course, this came with a cost.
The angel civilization was extremely interested in the spiritual energy of Bai Xuan's world. From their research, spiritual energy possessed a remarkably unique quality — it could interface flawlessly with chakra, magical energy, and even the human body, converting between systems without resistance.
It was extraordinarily gentle in nature, incompatible with nothing — no system of power, no technological framework. For the angel civilization, it represented a force that was distinct from dark energy but equally compatible with their technology.
With enough spiritual energy, the angel civilization might not be unable to advance to an entirely new level.
Unfortunately, the Honkai world was ultimately a world of technology. Purchasing spiritual energy through the chat group was feasible for moderate research — but large-scale use and experimentation was another matter entirely, especially if the goal was to push spiritual energy to a scale equivalent to the angel civilization's technological capacity.
The spiritual energy that would require was an astronomical figure. A cost even the angel civilization couldn't bear.
Once spiritual energy entered the discussion, there was considerably more to talk through.
Bai Xuan gave no indication of agreement or refusal. Regarding spiritual energy, the spiritual revival, and the spiritual tides that would follow, there was still much he didn't know.
Until those unknowns became known, he wouldn't agree.
Though — to be honest — he was deeply envious of the angel civilization's technology.
Technology was part of nature too. If Earth's civilization reached a level comparable to the angel civilization's, his own power would climb to something far more terrifying than it already was.
While Bai Xuan and Tenshi Zixin were speaking—
Numerous countries had learned through various channels that an angel had descended into the world.
In the West and parts of the East, populations that held faith in God and angels descended into a kind of fervor — convinced this angel had been sent by God to deliver them.
Others speculated this was likely an ability awakened by some human, one capable of transforming them into an angelic form.
The higher leadership of Huaxia heard these theories and shook their heads with quiet amusement.
If those people knew this angel was a visitor from an entirely different world, what expressions would they make?
Probably disbelief.
Even Huaxia's leadership — when Huo Yu had first told them — hadn't believed it. They'd heard it with skepticism.
A platform that crossed the myriad worlds. A place where communication and even trade with people from other worlds was possible. Characters from film, animation, and novels appearing within it.
Something straight out of a novel — how many people who had gone through nine years of compulsory education could accept that with ease?
As for how to approach the angel?
It was clear enough she had come for Bai Xuan. Their attitude, in truth, didn't particularly matter.
