Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Rock Rabbits

Xue Yao summoned her drumstick. Before the rabbit could shut its mouth, she swung it hard, sending it slamming against the wall.

"That was loud." She muttered under her breath as she rubbed her ear.

The rabbit was larger compared to the one in the real world. It was as big as a fox. Xue Yao wondered if she could store things in her system like the ones she normally read.

Using her thoughts, she summoned it into her space… and strangely the rabbit disappeared. 'It worked.' A proud smile tugged her lips.

Honghong opened her beak in disbelief. "How was that possible? It was here one second and the next it was gone."

Xue Yao grabbed her by the neck, pulling her along as she turned to run away. "We should get going before the king finds us."

Just as she finished her sentence, another rumble shook through the cave.

A loud noise echoed behind them. Honghong flapped her wings in panic. "Sister Xue Yao, run, RUN!"

Xue Yao ran as fast as she could, her feet barely touching the ground.

She ran out of the passage entrance into the wide space, the exit was right opposite her, but she quickly halted, skidding to a stop.

Before her, hundreds of rock rabbits stood on their hind limbs, their red eyes staring fiercely at them.

Xue Yao blinked, absolutely taken aback by the rare sight. She let out a nervous laugh. "Nice to meet you all, I guess." She paused before unclamping her hand around Honghong's neck. "So what is the reason for this meeting? Never mind, don't answer, I was just leaving."

"This is no time for small talk, run. Once they open their mouths, we are done… totally over with capital letters!" Honghong shouted dramatically.

Xue Yao closed her eyes for a second, and when she opened them again, they burned with pure conviction. "This just means more meat for me!"

"Us!" Honghong interjected.

Xue Yao glared at her before raising her drumstick, she jumped into the air rotating as she swung her drumstick around.

The rock rabbits opened their mouths and charged towards her.

Her drumstick connected to their heads, stomachs, and limbs, sending them flying back.

Xue Yao held it with both hands and swung it around defensively.

But the rabbits were too many, and the growls coming from the passage entrance were getting closer and closer.

Xue Yao knew it would take her forever to get through this heap of rabbits. 'That is silly but it is the only choice I have. I hope it will work.'

Xue Yao closed her eyes, but the next second Honghong was already panicking. "Master, don't close your eyes, we are in danger!"

Just as a rabbit was about to attack her with its horn. Honghong suddenly appeared in front of her, transforming into its original huge size.

With a swing of her wing, she sent the rabbit flying back with its horn stuck to the rock. But more rabbits attacked her from different directions. Their shrieks made it difficult for her to focus.

"Damn it! It's over, damn this bond, I didn't want to fight but it suddenly made me defend her! Why did I even choose her as my master, my death is coming sooner than I expected!" Honghong lamented.

'Come on work… I want all the rabbits in my space!'

The next second all the rabbits disappeared into her space when she opened her eyes, they were all gone.

Honghong glanced around, even below and between her own legs, yet there was not even a single rabbit.

"Master, you are the best, the most powerful, you are exceptional!" Honghong said, batting her lashes at her.

'Why stress yourself when you can easily solve them?' She shrugged her shoulders at that thought.

"Let's go, after we are far away from this dangerous place you can continue with your praises." She said, interlocking her hands behind her head as she strolled out of the cave. Her chest pumped with pride.

Honghong transformed back to a smaller size. She hovered between Xue Yao's arms, massaging her left arm before going to the next.

Just as they were about to step outside. A loud growl rumbled behind them.

Xue Yao and Honghong turned around slowly as if time had slowed down. Their hearts skipped a beat in their chests.

The tension in the air grew dense, as if a huge mountain was pressing against their chests.

A gasp escaped their lips the moment their eyes met those golden eyes that screamed hostility and power.

The beast towered over her, it was two to three times larger than her, its striking white fur was marred with blue blood.

"A…a…wolf?" Xue Yao stammered.

The wolf peeled its lips back revealing its sharp fangs as it growled fiercely at them.

Xue Yao backed away slowly. "Calm down, we are just leaving…"

Before she could finish, the huge wolf fell to the ground, its size shrinking to that of a puppy. Then its eyes flickered closed.

Xue Yao blinked at the sudden outcome, then she burst into laughter, tears streaming from the corner of her eyes. "I thought I was going to die, but it just fell down and lost consciousness."

"Sister Xue Yao, we should leave. Wolves live in packs. The others might be around." Honghong flapped her wings quickly as she glanced around to see if there were signs of others around.

"I'm not giving this chance of having a wolf as my servant." Xue Yao rushed forward and gathered the wolf in her arms.

Then a loud growl came from within the cave, this one sounded angrier and louder.

"Let's go!" Xue Yao yelled at Honghong.

They both dashed out of the cave before flying away.

Now beneath them, a pack of wolves was chasing after them.
