Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 A Weapon of Mass Destruction

Suddenly, the wheel of fortune grew larger, slowly coming to a stop on its axis.

'I now have the honour? My foot.' Bai Xue Yao thought inwardly. 'Please, let me win a better prize… God… God of Fortune.' She prayed inwardly.

Tian Lan lazily placed her hands on her hips, impatiently tapping her feet mid-air. [Why is it taking her so long to spin the wheel, spin it already… come on spin the damn wheel!] She seethed inwardly.

Xue Yao reached her hand to the side of the wheel, but she hesitated for a moment. 'Maybe I should beg her to let me spin it tomorrow… because right now, I don't have the courage to spin it, what if I gain nothing. What if I encounter danger, and with no life-saving weapon I might die, if I die, my mom won't let my spirit rest, if I die that will be so sad, I won't get the opportunity to…'

[Xue Yao, spin the wheel!] Tian Lan's voice cut through her thoughts, pulling her out of her daze.

Startled, Xue Yao turned to her, before flashing her a smile. "Be patient, I was just about to spin the wheel." She said, while inwardly rolling her eyes.

She exhaled deeply, turning back to the wheel of fortune, bringing her hands to her chest in prayer. "I, Xue Yao, I'm a child of fortune… God of fortune hears my cries! and bless me with fortunes! fortunes so big that I don't have to lift a finger to protect myself, fortune so big that I can laze around however I want…"

[XUE YAO!]

"Fine!" Xue Yao shouted in irritation, before spinning the wheel. She pushed out air from her mouth as she glared at Tian Lan.

Already one step away from combusting from anger, Tian Lan inhaled softly as she enthusiastically watched the wheel roll. She balled her fist as her eyes followed the wheel…

Xue Yao's heart hammered in her chest as she watched in anticipation, praying and hoping that it would win at least one of the prizes.

The wheel began slowing down, the arrow falling on an empty section with a question mark…before moving towards the wooden prize, then back to the empty section, then forward to the wooden prize.

Xue Yao's and Tian Lan's heads moved to the left before returning to the right, left… right…left…right.

Xue Yao realized that she might not get to an old age before she dies of a heart attack, because how else could she explain the suffocating tension in her chest?

Tian Lan stepped forward with eyes wide open, her fingers digging into her palms as she watched.

The wheel rotated from the wooden prize to the empty section again, this time slower, almost stopping… then it moved backward, barely passing the line of the indication between the empty section and the bronze prize, then it stopped.

"Wo-woahh!" Xue jumped to her feet as she shouted from pure bliss of releasing the suffocating tension in her chest. "I won! I wonnnn!"

Tian Lan floated to the side of the wheel. She tilted her head in a way that was horizontal to the wheel, checking if the arrow landed on the bronze prize, or if her eyes were deceiving her.

Her face fell when she realized the arrow had truly landed on the prize.

She cleared her throat. [If she had lost, I would have got the chance to increase my level… now she has won! My level is going to decrease more!'] Tian Lan wailed inwardly.

Meanwhile, Xue Yao was busy dancing, swirling her waist, jumping around like a kangaroo… which only annoyed Tian Lan even more, as if rubbing salt into her wounds.

[Stop moving around! You're making my head spin.] She folded her arms across her chest.

Xue Yao stopped but the satisfied grin on her face only widened more. She rushed back to Tian Lan.

"What did I win?" She asked with dreamy eyes.

Tian Lan rolled her blue eyes as she turned to reveal the prize.

[Ding! Ding! Ding!]

[Host won the bronze prize…]

Xue Yao clamped her fist as she waited impatiently for the prize to open. 'Please, be something useful… Please, be something useful.'

[Sticky Smelly Socks! Ta-Da!]

Xue Yao stared at the screen, the corners of her eyes twitched involuntarily. "Sticky smelly socks." She muttered, unable to believe her eyes and her ears.

Tian Lan cleared her throat again. [Since you won, you get to keep your life-saving rope and the sticky smelly socks.]

A tear dropped from Xue Yao's eye. "Why do I keep getting useless weapons! WHY! WHY! WHY!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.

Before Xue Yao could recover from her outburst, she was greeted by a horrid, pungent, and blood reversing smell.

Her nose twitched, and her eyes widened, as she felt the fresh air leaving her lungs. She quickly pinched her nose with her fingers.

"What the hell?!" Her eyes rolled to the back of her head.

Tian Lan snapped her finger and the Sticky Smelly Socks that were hovering in the air, immediately disappeared into the system's space.

Xue Yao tightened her hand around her own neck, gagging, before throwing up the little content in her stomach.

Even with the socks gone, the smell still lingered in the air.

Xue Yao's eyes watered. Even her lungs felt as if they had become contaminated. She held her breath, her eyes turned red from suffocation.

Not far from her, the noise of woods crashing to the ground echoed. Followed closely by a gagging sound.

"MASTER! WHAT IS THAT HORRIFIC SMELL?!" Honghong screeched at the top of her lungs. Never in her life had she smelled something that could knock her directly to her next fifth life.

"A weapon of mass destruction." Xue Yao gagged, as she fell to the ground.
