Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4 : The Unknown

2 months later...

Bwoosh! A carriage came at full speed and swearved as the cab man tried his best to stop the horses." Hey! Watch where you're going would ya?!" The man shouted his entire being emitting arrogance as his face twisted into a venomous glare, his eyes as sharp as blades. He was dressed impeccably, his hair styled immaculately as he faught to compose himself. The cab man scoffed as he asked sarcastically , "are you brain dead or what? If you are please try getting some more brain cells before you walk in the middle of a road where carriages pass through every day."Said the cabman as he slowed down and snapped back at the man who stepped into the street. After saying that, he flicked the reins and the horse sprang into motion as it continued on its journey disappearing into the distance leaving the man into dust. The man scoffed and gritted his teeth as he rolled his eyes and stomped off fuming. The little girl squinted as the sun rays glared over the town and flooded her eyes. "Ahhumm", She yawned as she turned her head to side trying to look away from the glare of the sun. She turned to the direction where the two men were just arguing. When she looked around her, the pack of dogs were already gone. She pushed herself upward as she walked out of the alley and down the street filled with people and into the back roads where she saw the man 2 months ago. When she finally made it there, she looked around her and saw that he was not there. She then turned around and headed out, disappointment etched across her pale, sunken face. It was a feeling that she had long grown accustomed to the past weeks since they first met. They was something about that man that made her look forward to seeing him again. As she thought about it, she finally made it into the streets.

When she finally made her way back into the busy street, she saw that a crowd had gathered around something. She gently made her way near a small corner where no one would notice her and saw that everyone was gathered around a group of messengers from the neighboring city of Karistivel Grove. "Ouhum!" A tall man with short blonde and light brown eyes, in a shining plate armor stepped out holding a scroll, clearing his throat. " I have news from General Morteeve of Karistivel Grove. He has sent us to inform you of a report of a recent attack. Two months ago, a family of six was murdered in their home. After that, another family of four went missing and were never found again. That was 2 weeks after the first incident. And the Council Of War have noticed a cynical pattern. And now it has been caught to our attention that the killer may be heading over into your city or may already be in your city." Gasps and chatter broke out as persons whispered and threw accusatory gazes and remarks toward one another. "What? No way!" " Why would someone just be walking around and killing families for no reason?" " Is this just a scare tactic to keep us caged up like birds?" A soldier held up his hand to signal silence. "I know that everyone is scared and worried about their lives and their loved ones. But that's why we're here: to inform you so that you can protect yourselves and your loved ones. We're not sure as to why someone would be doing this, nor are we sure of their motive, but we have realized a consistent pattern of the person trying to eliminate large families." " So you just expect us to sit and wait until that maniac comes and kill us and our families?!" " You guys are here giving your grant speech while there's a possibility that the killer is already here! Hell it might even be one of us!" "So you're telling me you come to us with a Grant speech trying to reassure us while our lives are on the line, you have no lead whatsoever, and not a single plan in place on how we might get an advantage, and you expect us to be here all sh*ts and giggles?!" "Yeah! Is that what you guys expect?" The crowd grew into an angry mod as they demanded answers. Another soldier raised a hand and interjected sharply into the crowd. " No! We don't have a plan! Yes, we're still trying to figure out what's going on and what we're really dealing with and why someone would be doing this! We don't have all the answers but the least you guys could do is try and put your faith in us, stay on guard and try to be patient as we give our best to get at the bottom of this!"
