Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 — A Debt That Must Be Repaid

‎The black sedan disappeared into the night, its presence swallowed by the quiet streets.

‎Inside, silence settled once more.

‎Adrian Voss sat with his eyes closed, his breathing steady, as if the events from moments ago meant nothing.

‎The driver, however, was not as composed.

‎He hesitated before speaking.

‎"Sir… we've identified the woman."

‎Adrian didn't open his eyes.

‎"Mm."

‎A subtle response.

‎Permission to continue.

‎"She is Elena Hale," the driver said, his tone lowering slightly. "CEO of Hale Group."

‎A pause.

‎Then... Adrian's eyes opened.

‎For the first time since leaving the Voss estate, something shifted in his gaze.

‎"Hale Group?" he repeated.

‎"Yes, sir. One of the fastest-rising corporations in the city. They specialize in biotech and high-value investments. Recently… they've been targeted."

‎Adrian's fingers stilled.

‎"By who?"

‎The driver hesitated.

‎"Several forces. But the most aggressive pressure comes from…" He glanced at the rearview mirror. "The Voss Group."

‎Silence. Then.

‎A faint, almost imperceptible smile curved Adrian's lips.

‎"What a coincidence."

‎Meanwhile...

‎Back on the dimly lit street, Elena Hale was still standing where Adrian had left her.

‎The unconscious men lay scattered around her like discarded trash.

‎But she didn't look at them.

‎Her gaze was fixed on the empty road.

‎"…Adrian."

‎She whispered his name again, softer this time.

‎As if testing its weight.

‎Her grip tightened around the black case in her hands.

‎Inside it—Everything.

‎The data. The contracts. The key to a deal worth billions.

‎And tonight, She had almost lost it.

‎A slow breath escaped her lips.

‎Then her expression hardened.

‎"No," she murmured. "I won't let them take it."

‎Not again.

‎A few minutes later, a convoy of luxury cars pulled up.

‎Men in black suits stepped out quickly, scanning the area with sharp, trained eyes.

‎"Miss Hale!"

‎One of them rushed toward her, relief flooding his face.

‎"We've been trying to reach you–are you alright?"

‎Elena nodded once.

‎"I'm fine."

‎Her voice was steady now.

‎Controlled.

‎As if the panic from earlier had never existed.

‎The man glanced at the unconscious attackers, his expression darkening.

‎"They got this close… We underestimated them."

‎Elena's gaze flickered briefly.

‎"No."

‎A pause.

‎"We underestimated him."

‎The man frowned.

‎"Who?"

‎But Elena didn't answer.

‎Instead, she turned toward her car.

‎"Take them away," she ordered coldly. "And find out who sent them."

‎"Yes, Miss Hale."

‎She stopped just before getting in.

‎"…And one more thing."

‎The man straightened immediately.

‎"Yes?"

‎Elena's eyes narrowed slightly, her voice lowering.

‎"Find him."

‎Inside the moving sedan, Adrian's phone buzzed softly.

‎He glanced at the screen.

‎A single message.

‎[Target confirmed: Hale Group under pressure. Orders?]

‎His thumb hovered over the screen for a moment.

‎Then....He typed.

‎[Observe.]

‎The reply came instantly.

‎[Understood.]

‎Adrian set the phone aside.

‎His gaze shifted to the window, watching the city pass by.

‎Bright lights.

‎Hidden darkness.

‎Endless ambition.

‎Five years ago, He had been crushed beneath it.

‎Now, He would reshape it.

‎"Sir," the driver spoke again. "Where to?"

‎Adrian didn't hesitate.

‎"Blackstone Tower."

‎The driver's eyes widened slightly.

‎"…Understood."

‎Blackstone Tower.

‎The name alone carried weight.

‎A place few had access to.

‎A building that stood at the center of the city's financial district, silent, untouchable, and wrapped in layers of secrecy.

‎The car arrived within minutes.

‎As Adrian stepped out, the towering structure loomed above him, its glass exterior reflecting the city lights like a mirror of power.

‎At the entrance two guards stood watch.

‎The moment they saw him, their expressions changed.

‎Not confusion.

‎Not arrogance.

‎Recognition.

‎They stepped aside instantly.

‎"Welcome back, sir."

‎Adrian walked past them without a word.

‎Inside, the atmosphere shifted.

‎Quiet.

‎Controlled.

‎Every movement precise.

‎As the elevator doors opened, a man in his forties stood waiting.

‎Sharp suit. Cold eyes.

‎Authority.

‎The moment he saw Adrian he bowed his head.

‎"Commander."

‎Adrian stepped in.

‎The doors closed behind him.

‎"That title no longer matters," Adrian said calmly.

‎The man gave a faint smile.

‎"To them, perhaps."

‎A pause.

‎"But to us… you are still the War God."

‎Silence filled the elevator.

‎Heavy. Unshaken.

‎Then... Adrian spoke.

‎"Report."

‎The man straightened slightly.

‎"The city is as you left it. Corrupt. Divided. Weak."

‎He pressed a button.

‎The elevator began to rise.

‎"However… your return has already caused movement."

‎Adrian's gaze sharpened.

‎"The Voss Group?"

‎"Yes."

‎A brief pause.

‎"They're panicking."

‎A faint smirk appeared.

‎"Good."

‎The man hesitated before continuing.

‎"There's more."

‎Adrian glanced at him.

‎"The Hale Group," the man said carefully. "They're on the verge of being swallowed. If they fall… the Voss Group will gain a major advantage."

‎The elevator reached the top floor.

‎The doors opened.

‎A vast, dimly lit office stretched before them, overlooking the entire city.

‎Power.

‎Pure and absolute.

‎Adrian stepped forward, his gaze sweeping across the skyline.

‎"Then we won't let them fall."

‎The man blinked.

‎Surprised.

‎"…Sir?"

‎Adrian's voice was calm.

‎Decisive.

‎"Prepare a meeting."

‎A pause.

‎"With who?" the man asked.

‎Adrian's eyes darkened slightly.

‎"Elena Hale."

~~~Far across the city~~~
Inside a luxurious penthouse, Elena stood by the window, her phone in hand.
‎Her reflection stared back at her.
‎Composed. Sharp. Unyielding.
‎But her thoughts… Were elsewhere.
‎"…Adrian."
‎She whispered again.
‎Then, Her phone buzzed.
‎A new message.
‎Unknown sender.
‎She frowned slightly before opening it.
‎[If you want to keep what's yours… meet me.]
‎Her eyes narrowed.
‎Below it... A time. A location.
‎And nothing else.
‎For a moment, silence filled the room.
‎Then... A slow, dangerous smile curved her lips.
‎"Interesting."
‎Across the city, under the same night sky.
‎Two people moved toward the same point.
‎One, A king returning to claim his throne.
‎The other, A queen refusing to fall.
‎Neither of them knew this meeting... Would change everything.
