Chapter 50 - Chapter 43 ~ Triggered

Jay's pov

The morning sun was a bright warmth on my body as i sat in the garden of the Watson Mansion.

Keifer was out of the house. He was called to Watson Enterprise for an emergency meeting.

I was wrapped up in one of his oversized hoodies. His scent was overwhelming in a good way.

In my hands i held a cup of coffee. The steam was rising. Condescending when it landed on my face. Leaving drops of dew.

It was peaceful. The chirping of the birds and the light breeze.

Keigan and Keiran were at their friends house. The house was empty other than me.

Section e had gone back to their respective houses a few days ago.

Keifer's pov

I was sitting at the head of the conference table.

There were representatives from each big company in the Philippines.

Angelo- CEO of Fernandez Corp

Aries- Co CEO of Fernandez Corp

James Blackwell- CEO of Blackwell Services

Simon Blackwell- Co CEO

Thomas Harrison- CEO of Harrison Associates

Trip Harrison- Co CEO

Oliver Hayes- CEO of Hayes & Partners

Liam Hayes- Co CEO

Alexander Whitemore- CEO of Whitmore & Co.

Ryan Whitemore- Co CEO

Cole Bennett- CEO of Bennet Group

Aiden Bennett- Co CEO

None of these names really matter. Except Angelo and Aries of course. But yes they were CEO's of big companies but they were just here to discuss how we could help their stock market.

We were half way through the meeting when my phone buzzed in my pocket. As I stood up to excuse myself, my new assistant barged in.

"Sir" he said. Panting. Trying to catch his breath.

"What?"

"It's…it's the mansion."

"What happened?!"

"The-the emergency alert was sounded three minutes ago."

"What? That can't be possible. The alarms would ring in the office too!"

"That's the problem. The connection to the office alarms was cut off. About six minutes before the alert was issued"

I didn't thing twice. I slammed my laptop shut and walked out the room.

Jay was at home. Alone. If the alarm was sounded. There was definitely a big problem.

I didn't know how fast I was driving. But I couldn't care less. Jay was there. In the mansion. My Jay. Alone.

The realisation hit like a physical blow. I only drove faster.

——

Jay's pov

The room was dark. No light whatsoever was seeping through.

The house was silent. Even the birds outside had stopped chirping.

I felt my way around the room. Trying to find the door.

I had already pressed the alert button. Keifer should be on his way here.

The footsteps from earlier returned. Closer this time.

Step

Step

Step

"Come out, come out wherever you are"

The whisper echoed through the halls. The words said in a sing song.

Keifer I thought.

Where are you??

I couldn't find my phone. I had dropped it trying to fine the alarm.

And to add on top of that. It was on silent.

Just great I though. Now I definitely can't call Keifer.

——

Keifer's pov

I flung open the large doors to the Watson Mansion.

The lights were off and the emergency lights were dimmed.

It was enough to see just about a few centimetres from you.

Otherwise it was a complete mass of darkness. But luckily for me. I grew up in this houe. I know these walls by heart.

I even know which floor board creaks by the steps.

And even luckier. Whoever was in the house made the mistake to wear combat boots.

I heard the faint

Step

Step

Step

Of the boots hitting the floor.

I followed the soud to the hallway that lead to me and Jay's room.

And I finally saw him.

Adrian

Nothing made sense. He was supposed to be locked up. Unless he escaped.

Before I wasted another second. I grabbed him into a chokehold.

I was never so great in my life for my height. I was about two inches taller.

Which made it easier for mee to grab him.

"You thought you could barge into my house and hurt my wife?"

I didn't get a response other than him scratching and pulling on my arm.

I squeezed tighter. Not enough to kill him. But just enough to make him feel the pain.

I scoffed.

"Well you were wrong"

I let go and landed a hard kick to his back. I hear a slight crack.

I don't know if that was the bones or if he was stiff.

I waited for him to turn around. And as soo an he did I landed a hook to his jaw.

He stagered back in pain.

Another kick to his stomach.

Then one to his ribs. The bones crunched.

He came at me. His fists ready. But I was faster. I grabbed his wrist and twisted it.

The scream echoed through the hall along with the sound of his bones giving away.

As soon as he collapsed onto the floor i opened the door of the upstairs stores room and shoved him inside.

I slammed the door shut and used the master key to lock it.

I could hear him from inside. Hanmering his fists onto the door.

Eh. He'll just break his fists more.

That door is not going to budge.

The realisation hit me like a brick to the head.

Jay!

I quickly walked over to our room.

The door was locked.

I used the master key on it. And the door swung open.

The room was dark. There was no light whatsoever.

I used tge light from the hallway to look inside.

There!

In the corner sat a small figure.

Jay

Her knees were pulled up to her chest.

Her head was bowed deep.

Her forehead rested on her knees.

"No.."

"Please no-"

She whispered.

I knew then…that her trauma had returned.

I quietly walked over and sat beside her as I pulled her into my arms.

Her hands came up to wrap around my neck

"Keifer-they're gonna hurt me! Keifer take me away! Please!"

"Shhh. It's okay. It's okay. You're safe Jay. You're safe. I'm here. It's okay"

I whispered againg and again. As if whispering was supposed to heal her.

Soon her breathing slowed. Her eyes that were filled with salty water not long ago started to shut.

I picked her up and layed her on the bed.

As soon as I tried to leave her hand immediately fisted my shirt again.

Her eyes flew open.

"Don't leave. Please. Don't leave."

"I'm not leaving. I'm right here Jay. Sleep. I'll watch over you."

I slid into bed right beside her. My arms wrapping around her waist.

I pulled her closer. Seeking more of her warm.

Before I fully went to sleep i made a call to the security gaurds to get Adrian out of the storage room and hand him over to the police outside.

Because right now?

All that mattered was the girl in my arms sleeping peacefully.

And letting her stay peaceful right now was the most important thing.
