Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: I give you food, you want to steal?!

Startled by the sudden voice, Gran spun around instantly.

Standing behind him was a petite girl holding an Angel's staff. She was small and dainty, with silver hair tied into a playful side-braid that gave her a mischievous, charming look. Gran blinked, a sense of familiarity washing over him.

Beside him, Old Kai and Shin immediately bowed. "Lady Kusu! It is an honor to see you."

Kusu! Gran's pupils shrank. That was her—the Angel of Universe 10 and the eldest sibling of all the Angels. No one truly knew the full extent of her power, but her presence alone was enough to quiet the void.

"I am the Destroyer Candidate of Universe 7," Gran said, quickly following suit with a bow. "It is an honor to meet you, Lady Kusu."

Old Kai nodded approvingly. At least the boy had enough sense to recognize high-tier divinity when it appeared.

"I know who you are, little one," Kusu said, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. "Whis told me about you quite some time ago."

Gran blinked. "Whis mentioned me to you?"

"A little," she replied, tilting her head. "Though it seems he was being far too modest. You're even more impressive than my father suggested."

She shot a glance toward the void where Whis was fighting. Was he worried I'd try to snatch the boy away, too? she wondered. If she hadn't eventually asked the Grand Priest herself, she might still be in the dark about the boy's true potential.

Gran felt a bit awkward being the subject of Angel gossip, but he quickly turned his focus back to the situation. "Lady Kusu, what brings you here?"

"The disturbance, of course," she giggled. "I didn't expect to find Whis and Vados actually trading blows. I assume Vados tried to make a move on you, and that's what triggered this little family feud?"

Gran's jaw dropped. "How did you know that?"

"Because I'm the one who told Vados about you in the first place," she replied nonchalantly.

Gran stood there, utterly speechless. So the root of his kidnapping was this cute little Angel standing right in front of him.

"It looks like Whis and Beerus are truly incensed this time," Kusu noted, watching the empty void with a smile. "To drag Vados and Champa all the way to the World of Void for a sanctioned brawl... that's quite the statement."

Noticing her gaze, Gran's eyes lit up. He looked at Old Kai, who gave him a subtle nudge.

"Lady Kusu," Gran asked tentatively, "could you... Maybe show us what's happening out there?"

As the eldest daughter of the Grand Priest, many suspected Kusu might be the strongest of the Angels. Gran wasn't sure if that was true, but he knew one thing: both Whis and Vados had placed Angel-level barriers around this Cube, yet she had slipped inside without making a sound. Her power was on a completely different level.

"You want me to project the fight?" Kusu tapped her chin. "I'm the Angel of Universe 10. Normally, I don't interfere in the affairs of other universes—especially when it involves a Destroyer Candidate from Universe 7."

She reached out and patted Gran's head, her smile widening. "But you're such a spunky little thing. You remind me of Lord Rumsshi—just as goofy. I suppose I can grant your request."

Goofy? I'm a Saiyan powerhouse! Gran's face darkened slightly, but he swallowed his pride. If "being goofy" was the price for seeing a legendary battle, he'd take it. "Thank you, Lady Kusu!"

The little Angel waved her staff, and two massive light screens shimmered into existence above them.

"Look closely," she said.

Finally, the "silent movie" had a picture. Gran and the Kais leaned in, eyes wide. On one screen, Beerus and Champa were wreathed in violent purple auras, colliding through the endless nothingness. The shockwaves from their hits were enough to erase entire star systems, yet here, they fought with total abandon.

Gran watched, his spirit trembling. This was the pinnacle of Destruction. Their movements were clean, natural, and devastatingly efficient. There was no wasted energy. Every strike hunted for a weakness; every defense was a masterpiece of reflexes.

"This is incredible," Gran whispered. Compared to them, his own fighting style felt like a child flailing in the dark.

As the battle raged, Beerus's purple aura grew blindingly bright. A terrifying pressure radiated from him—an aura of absolute dominance that looked down upon all creation.

"What is that?" Gran asked.

"That," Kusu explained, "is the Ultra Ego of a God of Destruction."

Gran's heart skipped a beat. He knew of Ultra Ego from the records he'd seen. In some timelines, Vegeta achieved a version of this through Beerus's training—a state where one's power grows alongside their will to fight and the damage they take.

But Beerus's version was different. It wasn't about taking damage to get stronger. For Beerus, his power was as vast as his will. He didn't need to "power up" into it; it was his natural state.

"Among all the Destroyers, Lord Beerus is the most terrifying," Kusu noted. "He perfected Ultra Ego long ago. And don't forget, he also possesses the Ultra Instinct that other Destroyers can only dream of. Even if it isn't the 'perfected' version, Lord Champa has already lost."

Gran's breath hitched. His master was a monster.

On the screen, Beerus transformed into a purple streak of lightning, his fist driving straight toward Champa's midsection.

BOOM!

The force caused the World of Void to ripple. Champa tried to dodge, but Beerus was too fast. The punch landed squarely in his gut.

"GYAAAH!" Champa's scream echoed through the void.

"You fat slob!" Beerus roared, throwing another punch. "I treated you to the best food in my universe, and you try to poach my student the moment my back is turned?!"

Champa clutched his stomach, his face contorted in pain. "Beerus! Enough! I gave him back, didn't I?!"

CRACK!

Beerus's fist slammed into Champa's defensive guard, sending him flying for millions of miles. "You gave him back because you got caught! If I don't turn you into a rug today, you'll try it again next week!"

"Fine! You asked for it!" Champa regained his balance, his eyes bloodshot with desperation. He conjured two massive spheres of Hakai energy and hurled them with all his might.

The energy of erasure shrieked toward Beerus.

"After all these millions of years, is that all you've got?" Beerus's purple aura flickered and died, replaced by a shimmering, ghostly silver light.

"Ultra Instinct?!" Champa shrieked. "Beerus, you cheater!"

In this state, Beerus was like a shadow. He flowed around the Hakai spheres with effortless grace, closing the distance in the blink of an eye. He appeared behind Champa, locked his hands together, and brought them down like a hammer.

"AAAGH!"

Beerus didn't give him a moment to breathe. He began a relentless barrage of strikes.

"Bragging about your stupid bird eggs?!"

WHAM!

"Compared to my ramen, your eggs are garbage!"

KABOOM!

"I fed you, and you tried to rob me?!"

POW!

"Let's see if you ever try to touch my disciple again!"

The screen showed Beerus absolutely pummeling Champa until the Universe 6 God looked like a purple, swollen balloon. The fight was over.

In the Palace of Zen-Oh, the Grand Lord clapped his tiny hands. "The skinny kitty is so strong! Wow~!"

"Despite being twins, Beerus is far ahead of Champa in every category," the Grand Priest noted with a nod. "His talent is immense; it's a shame he's so lazy."

Zen-Oh pointed at the other screen. "What about Whis and Vados? Who wins that one?"

"They sparred thousands of years ago, and Vados won," the Grand Priest replied. "But now... It's hard to say."

"Why?"

"Whis's talent is equal to his sister's, but he shares Beerus's relaxed personality. It's unclear how much he's truly applied himself over the millennia. If he hasn't trained, he'll lose again. But if he has..."

"Then what?"

"Watch and see, Grand Lord."

Back in the World of Void, Beerus began dragging a half-conscious Champa back toward the Cube. Halfway there, he paused. "Wait... is that Kusu?"

He shook his head and kept flying. When he reached the Cube, Kusu waved her staff, parting the barriers. Beerus tossed Champa onto the floor like a sack of potatoes.

"Lord Beerus! That was amazing!" Gran cheered. He was genuinely in awe of the absolute landslide victory.

Old Kai and Shin looked at Beerus as if he were a returning war hero.

"Hmph. Naturally," Beerus said, tilting his chin up arrogantly. He turned to the little Angel. "Lady Kusu, it's been a while."

"It has, Lord Beerus," Kusu giggled. "You're as formidable as ever. I suspect even if Lord Rumsshi fought you, he'd end up looking just as pitiful as poor Lord Champa over there."

Beerus actually blushed a little. Being praised by the eldest Angel sister was a rare ego boost.

"Lord Beerus, look!" Gran pointed at the remaining projection.

Whis and Vados weren't using explosive energy or massive Hakai blasts. Instead, they were locked in a display of pure martial arts. It looked like a high-speed dance—fluid, rhythmic, and strangely soft. They moved like Tai Chi masters, turning each other's momentum against them.

To the untrained eye, it looked slow. In reality, it was so fast that even Beerus had trouble tracking the physical contact without the screen's help.

"Can Whis win?" Gran asked.

"I don't know," Beerus admitted. "Angelic combat is beyond me." He watched Whis intently. What are you hiding, you sneaky attendant?

"Whis will win by half a move," Kusu said suddenly.

Everyone turned to her, eyes wide. Whis himself had admitted he was slightly weaker than Vados.

"Just watch," Kusu said, her smile turning knowing. She had spent a month training with Whis a few years back. She knew exactly how much he had been holding back.
