Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: "Sparring"

In the multiverse of Zen-Oh, combat between Gods of Destruction is strictly forbidden.

Old Kai knew this better than anyone, yet the fact that he encouraged the fight spoke volumes about the sheer depth of his rage. At the very edge of Universe 7, the atmosphere was suffocating. Beerus and his entourage had completely cut off Champa's escape route. The standoff was so intense it felt as though the fabric of reality might tear before a single punch was even thrown.

"Champa, you've got some nerve," Beerus said, his voice dropping into a low, dangerous register.

The fact that he didn't call him "fatty" sent a shiver down Champa's spine. He knew his brother was beyond mere annoyance—he was truly incensed.

"You came here to brag about your pathetic bird eggs, and in return, I showed you the glory of instant noodles. I treated you with hospitality," Beerus continued, each word sharp as a razor. "And you repay me by manipulating time to lure us away? A classic diversion just to kidnap my pupil?"

Champa remained silent, unable to find a single valid excuse.

"What's the matter?" Beerus's voice turned raspy. "Can't even look me in the eye? And you're still clutching Universe 7's Candidate for Destruction. Do you actually think you're walking away with him?"

Beerus shifted his gaze to Vados.

"Lord Beerus, whatever do you mean? I'm certainly not 'clutching' anyone," Vados said smoothly, subtly shifting the sack behind her back.

Inside the bag, Gran thought, Are you serious right now?

"Sister Vados, then what exactly is in that pink sack you're hiding?" Whis asked, his face terrifyingly calm. Caught red-handed, his sister was being remarkably shameless.

Vados swallowed hard. Seeing that look on Whis's face, she realized her "foolish little brother" was genuinely angry too. "Ah... this? I just... found it lying around—"

"Sister, release Gran. Now," Whis interrupted, his tone icy.

Vados went silent. With a heavy sigh, she finally opened the sack. Gran scrambled out, looking ruffled and thoroughly annoyed. Champa reached out instinctively, as if to grab him again, but one look at Beerus's murderous eyes made him pull his hand back. With both Beerus and Whis standing in their way, there was no chance of taking the boy.

"Lord Beerus! Whis! Old Kai!" Gran shouted, flying toward his team as fast as his small frame would allow. Halfway there, he spun around and pointed an accusing finger at the Universe 6 duo. "Lord Champa! Miss Vados! I'm going to remember this!"

He had been perfectly settled in his meditation, ready to ascend to a Godly Dimension, only to be stuffed into a pink bag like a common grocery item. It was infuriating.

Champa grit his teeth at the boy's smug expression, wanting nothing more than to give him a piece of his mind, while Vados felt a twinge of disappointment. Honestly, wasn't she much more pleasant to look at than that stiff brother of hers? She couldn't believe the boy was so unwilling to be her student.

"Are you alright, my boy?" Old Kai asked, catching Gran and fussing over him to make sure he hadn't been "corrupted" by the other universe. Beerus and Whis looked on until the Old Kai gave a nod, signaling the kid was unharmed.

"Whew!" Both the Destroyer and the Angel let out a synchronized sigh of relief. Seeing their genuine concern, Gran felt a warm glow of appreciation. This was his team.

"Don't worry, Lord Beerus, Whis. I'm totally fine!" Gran said, eager to get back to business. "I've consolidated my power. Can we start the Dimensional training now?"

"Training can wait," Beerus said, pushing Gran aside and stepping toward Champa.

Gran blinked. What is he doing? Is he actually going to fight?

Champa froze. He'd given the brat back; surely the "Skinny One" wasn't going to push it further? Suddenly, a violent purple aura erupted from Beerus. The energy was so immense that the entire Universe 7 began to tremble.

"Lord Beerus, stop! Lord Zen-Oh forbade fighting between Destroyers!" Gran cried out.

Supreme Kai Shin, wiping cold sweat from his brow, added, "Please, Lord Beerus, be reasonable! If Zen-Oh finds out, we're both finished!" Shin was now painfully aware that his life was linked to the Destroyer's.

When Beerus ignored them, Gran turned to the Old Kai. "Old Kai, tell him to stop!"

"Tell him to stop? Why?" the Old Kai growled, his own anger still simmering.

Gran and Shin stared in disbelief. Had everyone gone mad?

"Whis..." Gran turned to the Angel as a last resort.

"Sister Vados," Whis said, ignoring Gran entirely. "You defeated me in a sparring match several thousand years ago. It's been a long time. I think it's time for a rematch."

"..." Gran and Shin were speechless.

As the victim of the kidnapping, Gran certainly wanted to see Champa get his comeuppance, but the rules were the rules.

"Skinny, have you lost your mind?" Champa barked, his eyes wide. "You know what happens when two Destroyers clash!"

"You didn't think this would end with a simple apology, did you?" Beerus's voice was like grinding stone.

"Lord Beerus, are you certain about this?" Vados asked, her playful demeanor replaced by genuine shock.

"Sister, don't worry about them. You still haven't answered my challenge," Whis said, drawing her focus. Vados felt a pang of unease. Her brother had lost to her millennia ago—why did he sound so confident now?

Then, Beerus spoke up. "Old man, do me a favor. Take a trip to the Palace of Zen-Oh. Inform them that I'm about to have a 'discussion' with this fat slob."

The request shocked everyone. Gran's fear turned into sudden excitement. If they had official permission, then the rules didn't matter!

"With pleasure!" Old Kai didn't hesitate. Using his Kai Kai ability, he vanished instantly. Only a Supreme Kai could teleport directly to the palace of the King of All.

"Skinny, you're serious?!" Champa turned pale.

"Whis, this isn't a joke?" Vados asked, her voice hushed.

A moment later—Zip!—The Old Kai was back. Everyone held their breath, waiting for the verdict from the Grand Minister and Zen-Oh.

"Well?" Beerus asked.

Old Kai shot a cold, mocking look at Champa and Vados. "The Grand Minister and Lord Zen-Oh... they've given their permission!"

The news hit like a tidal wave. Why would Zen-Oh, who strictly forbade these fights, suddenly agree? Gran realized it was likely just for the entertainment value. Zen-Oh loved a good show.

"Fatty, let's head to the World of Void," Beerus commanded. He wasn't foolish enough to fight another Destroyer within the confines of his own universe.

"Sister, after you," Whis added, gesturing toward the void.

Vados looked at Whis. Had he really closed the gap in those thousands of years? "Fine. If that is what you wish, I shall oblige." She grabbed a reluctant Champa and stepped into their Cube, warping toward the Null Realm.

Whis and Beerus followed suit, ushering Gran and the other Kais into their own transport. Two legendary battles were about to begin.

At the very center of the multiverse, inside the palace shaped like the kanji for "All," the Grand Minister stood before the two Zen-Ohs.

"Grand Lord Zen-Oh, why did you allow them to fight?" the Minister asked.

One of the Zenos put down his gaming controller and squeaked, "I want to see the 'Fighting Game' for real! It looks fun!"

"I see," the Grand Minister smiled. With a wave of his hand, a massive screen appeared above the palace floor. For a brief second, both supreme deities glanced at young Gran on the screen before shifting their focus to the main event.

The World of Void.

A place completely independent of the universe. No sky, no stars, no time, no space—only the absolute "Nothing." This was the very place where the Tournament of Power would eventually be held, though the great arena of Kachi Katchin had yet to be built.

"Lord Beerus, Whis, you've got this! Knock them flat!" Gran cheered, his fists clenched. Even though he wasn't the one fighting, his Saiyan blood was boiling.

"Knocking that fat pig flat is easy," Beerus remarked, glancing at Whis. "You should be worried about Whis."

Whis remained calm—so calm it was unsettling. "You'll see soon enough. Just stay within the barrier."

Whis turned back and cast an Angel-level protective shield around the spectator area. Vados, not wanting to be outdone, approached the Cube where Gran was standing. "This is all your fault, little one. Now I have to fight my brother."

Gran pouted. I was the one who got kidnapped! How is this my fault?

"I'll add another layer of protection for you," Vados sighed, casting her own barrier over them before flying off. Gran's annoyance vanished instantly. She might be devious, but she wasn't a bad person.

The four deities flew a kilometer into the void, splitting into two distinct battlefields.

"Skinny, can we just call it off? I'll admit I lost!" Champa pleaded, sweating.

"Not a chance. You tried to steal my disciple. I won't be satisfied until I've left a few bruises," Beerus growled.

"Fine! If that's how you want it, let's go!" Champa yelled, finally accepting the inevitable.

Suddenly, the World of Void began to shake—not from physical movement, but from the sheer weight of their presence. Purple Hakai energy flooded the void, lashing against the protective barriers. Gran watched, his heart hammering against his ribs. Without the Angels' shields, they would have been disintegrated by the pressure alone.

Whis and Vados stood opposite each other, staves in hand, their power perfectly contained. Then, in a single heartbeat, all four moved.

BOOM!

CRACK!

The sound was like the birth of a galaxy. The problem was that these four were the pinnacle of power in the multiverse. Their speed was so far beyond mortal comprehension that to Gran and the others, they had simply vanished.

"Dammit! I can't see anything!" Gran shouted in frustration. He was like a man watching a movie with the screen turned off and the volume at max.

"Old Kai, is there any way you can help me see them?"

"I'm a Supreme Kai, not an Angel! I can't see them either!" the old man snapped, squinting into the darkness.

"Oh my~ looks like a party is happening here. Mind if I join the fun?"

A tiny, feminine voice echoed inside the protective Cube. Gran's hair stood on end. He spun around, wondering who could have sneaked past two Angel-level barriers.
