Chapter 64 - Divergence

In the end, everyone survived the mess at Nabu Island with various injuries and new traumas.

I personally was fine, as were Sasha, Momo, and most importantly, Armin. Momo and Armin had been very freaked out when they realized just how powerful my regeneration now was, since they both yelled at me for getting speared in the chest.

The only bad thing about all of this was that the Beast, Jaw, Cart, and Warhammer Titan weren't killed by Levi and instead extradited to Germany, and I didn't get any tickets for beating the breaks off them.

On the plus side, Sasha and I got to spend an entire week doing nothing together since Nezu was forced to close down the school as he dealt with the international incident with the Titans, as well as freaking out and redoing the school's entire security system after I told him AFO had taken over Tomura's body.

I'd also personally written down the best way to kill AFO permanently, via Star and Stripe, and left it with Lust, who would hand-deliver the method to Nezu once he calmed down. In the meantime, I enjoyed going out shopping, surprised me too, man.

Turns out Sasha had gotten tired of me shredding all my clothes when I used too much strength, and so she'd had Mei make a new type of thread that wouldn't tear as easily when I lost control, which was becoming less often.

While Mei worked on that, Sasha dragged me to every department store and clothing store in Musutafu. Since the new thread would be done soon, she wanted to figure out what looked best on me so that we could pay someone to use the thread to make me clothes.

I could probably make several Mr. Handy robots as well; they might do pretty well.

I wasn't the only one suffering during all this time. Mina, Toru, Ochaco, Jiro, Kendo, Nejire, and even Mikasa had stolen Sasha's idea. So, the entire week I'd get dirty looks from Kaminari, Bakugo, and Eren as they were dragged around.

Kirishima and Ojiro looked like they were having a great time going around with their 'not' girlfriends. Sasha and I had lots of fun teasing them when we crossed paths.

Izuku, of course, was a stuttering mess, as was Ochaco every time we pressed them about it. Sasha didn't help with all her innuendos, but it was pretty funny to see them getting out and about.

Nejire dragging Shoto around was actually a complete curveball that neither of us expected. We had a tingle with how much Kendo and Bakugo had begun arguing in the cafeteria after the joint training, but Nejire dragging Shoto out was out of nowhere.

Shoto actually didn't look too surprised either when we first saw them. He, of course, waved at us so that he could get a break from Nejire's constant talking, but he didn't seem to hate being around the chatty girl who seemed to do enough talking for the both of them.

We didn't just cruise around alone either. In some stores that were too much for me, Sasha let me sit out as she spent hours in a mall with Momo and Tsuyu. It was a bit boring until I found an arcade and Jiro beating Kaminari at Guitar Hero.

This was a pretty fun week, but under all the new clothes and cuddly feelings, I was a bit uneasy.

No matter what I did, I couldn't shake AFO's words before he disappeared again. Closer than I thought.

I had gone to Aizawa and Nezu with these worries, and they'd promised to keep an eye on the class. Alarielle had also tried to comfort me in her own way, something about the sword telling her to do it, idk.

But even that didn't bother me as much as it did just LOOKING at Eren, Mikasa, and Armin.

They were awesome, and really nice and great to be around, don't get me wrong. It's just that they didn't belong here, in this world. They were supposed to be planning their attack on Marley right now, not going to hero school in Japan.

It didn't make sense, despite the Chaos Gacha already explaining that it was because of my increased power. It made sense, but I expected the villains to get beefier, not for entirely different power sets to manifest all of a sudden.

That's why Alarielle kinda freaked me out as well. I'm pretty sure she and the sword she wielded were from Warhammer Fantasy, and even though it was far removed from 40k, both of them shared one thing.

The Chaos Gods.

I knew the chances of them being here were super slim, not to mention Khaine and I would be more than enough to keep them from summoning any really dangerous demons into real space, but just the chance that they could was worrying.

That was what had pushed me to the brink. I know I'm always joking about going crazy and becoming a vigilante, but with AFO running around again, I don't think I have any other choice. Just sitting around U.A won't do anything but give him time to collect quirks and plan.

Yes, I could easily fly around the world and fight crime for weeks on end and bring in a golden age of peace bigger than All Might's, but what was the point if AFO killed someone close to me while I was across the planet, like Sasha?

Just the thought of her dying made me sick. I know she's more than capable of taking care of herself, but the fear of AFO bringing out something horrible specifically against her and my friends was a bit too much to leave to chance.

I don't even know why I was so surprised by this.

In my last life, I loved reading all sorts of fanfics where canon is thrown out the door, sometimes literally. New villains, beefy OCs, even crazy stuff like the Robutian Heresy- I loved that sort of stuff.

Living through it? No thank you.

I finished the last letter meant for Jiro specifically as Sasha emerged from the bathroom. "I hate this. You know that, right?" I nodded; she'd only told me three times tonight. "You know I don't have a choice. AFO is too much of a threat to everything to stay in one place."

She threw a pillow at my head as I turned to her. "Bullshit, you always have a choice. Stay here with me, help us get stronger so we can face him together." I really wish that I could.

"It's not that simple-"

"It is. Stay, with, me."

She didn't back down as I looked deep into her eyes.

"I don't care about AFO. I don't care about this school, or whatever shit Eren and his friends brought with them. I don't care about the princess; I don't care about anything else in this world but you.

And you're leaving me to go on some wild FUCKING GOOSECHASE!"

I flinched when she yelled. We'd had our disagreements, but never yelled. I opened my mouth, but she cut me off.

"No, let me finish."

"Our entire time together, you have been nothing but the sweet, kind, somewhat naive boy that holds my heart. But ever since you killed AFO the first time, you've done nothing but train and pull more freaky powers out of your ass every other week!

I know you have your secrets; everyone does. But I'm scared to know what you're hiding to make you switch up on me like this? I've seen where this road leads, and I don't want to lose you too."

Seeing her tear-filled eyes made my chest hurt even worse than when AFO tried breaking my ribs, worse than the spike through my chest, worse than when the USJ Nomu tried to squeeze the life out of me.

That didn't change my mind however.

I stood up from my desk and walked over to her, hugging and holding her tight as my wings wrapped around us. I stayed there and held her as she cried into my chest, not moving until she was done.

"I love you, Sasha."

She sniffed loudly and glared up at me. "Where's the damn but?!"

"But I love everyone else too. I love Momo's intelligence, Izuku's genius when he gets out of his head. I love each and every person in this class, not to mention the other people I've been blessed to meet since coming here.

All For One is a threat to all of them. I can't just sit around and do nothing when I know for a fact he's out there, alive, plotting to kill me and those I hold dear. I'll be back once a week, I promise."

She was silent for a moment as she shed a few more tears. "Will you at least stay for tonight?" Despite my mind screaming at me to leave now, I did. I stayed with Sasha for one last night, leaving before dawn's first light rose from the horizon.
