Chapter 888: Oh No, Master Is Surrounded By Angels! The Fresh Taste Of A Little Demon
Satania dropping to her knees and declaring herself an apprentice caught everyone entirely off guard.
"Satania, what on earth are you doing?!" Vignette gasped, her hands darting out to grab the crimson-haired demon by the shoulders, desperately trying to haul her back to her feet.
"Vignette, let go! I am apprenticing myself!" Satania resisted the pull, her crimson eyes practically sparkling with cartoonish stars. She looked up at Ren with absolute reverence. "He is unbelievably powerful! He definitely knows the secret to becoming the strongest Great Demon in existence!"
The bribe of that heavenly melon bread had already won over her stomach, but hearing Vignette, Raphiel, and Gabriel all openly acknowledge Ren's terrifying strength was the final push. In Satania's simple mind, this was her golden ticket. Her desire to become his loyal disciple was now set in stone.
"Satania, please! Stop causing trouble for Senior Ren!" Vignette pleaded, her face burning with second-hand embarrassment.
"No, it is not a bother at all." Ren let out a low, amused chuckle. He looked down at the kneeling demon girl, a playful glint in his eye. "Taking you in as a disciple is not entirely out of the question. But I have to wonder... what exactly can you offer me, Junior Satania?"
Satania froze, her mouth falling open in a comical shape.
"Since you are a demon of the Underworld," Ren continued, his tone slow and deliberate, "you should know the rules better than anyone. Demons always demand an equivalent price when striking a deal, do they not?"
"A price..." Vignette blinked, her expression shifting to one of mild surprise. "Well, a long time ago, demonic contracts did require a heavy toll. Things like human souls, or a lifespan." She rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. "But nowadays... there really aren't any demons like that left in the Underworld."
"Is that so?" Ren replied, his tone perfectly neutral.
He mentally noted the absurdity of it all. If the entire Underworld was populated by harmless, well-meaning demons like Vignette and gullible fools like Satania, the world of darkness was truly beyond salvation. Not that the collapse of the demonic hierarchy was any of his concern.
"Well, it is good that you understand the concept," Ren said, bringing the focus back to the kneeling girl. "It is absolutely impossible for ordinary people to gain anything from me without paying a steep price."
"Ordinary people?" Raphiel echoed, catching the specific phrasing. A sly, knowing smile curved the angel's lips. "Does that imply there are certain people who can receive your blessings without paying any price at all?"
Ren glanced at the white-haired angel, raising an eyebrow in genuine surprise. "You are quite sharp."
He shifted his gaze back to the group. "Naturally, there are exceptions. Those who belong to me—my people—never have to pay a price. Just like the girls living here in my manor."
Raphiel, Vignette, and even the usually apathetic Gabriel all dropped their jaws. The implication hung heavily in the air. He meant that every single beautiful woman residing in this massive estate was... his.
A furious blush exploded across Vignette's cheeks, painting her face a bright tomato red. "That... that kind of arrangement..."
Steam practically whistled from her ears as her overactive imagination conjured up highly inappropriate, multi-person scenarios. Her pupils morphed into dizzying spirals as she swayed on her feet, completely overwhelmed by the sheer indecency of it all.
"Then I want to be Master's person!" Satania suddenly shouted, throwing her hands in the air. "Master, please let me become a Great Demon!"
"Satania, absolutely not!" Vignette shrieked, snapping out of her dizzy spell to lunge at her friend.
"Why not?!" Satania shot back, pouting defensively.
It was painfully obvious to everyone else in the room. The simple-minded, hopelessly naive Satania had absolutely zero comprehension of what becoming Ren's person actually entailed.
"Because..." Vignette stammered, waving her hands frantically. She desperately wanted to explain the mature reality of the situation, but the scandalous words simply refused to leave her throat. How could a proper girl like her say such incredibly embarrassing things out loud?
"Haha, fair enough. Since you want to become a Great Demon so badly, I will fulfill your wish." Ren chuckled, finding the entire exchange highly entertaining. He casually raised his right hand and snapped his fingers. A crisp, echoing sound rang through the hall.
The very next second, the atmosphere in the room shifted violently. A dense, terrifyingly powerful aura erupted directly from Satania's small frame, washing over the group like a tidal wave of dark energy.
"How is that even possible?!" Raphiel gasped, her usually composed and teasing demeanor shattering instantly.
Gabriel stumbled backward, her lazy eyes snapping wide open in absolute disbelief.
Their shock was entirely justified. The sheer magnitude of demonic energy Satania was currently exuding had completely eclipsed the strength of Gabriel's strongest and most feared older sister, Zelel. It was a level of power that defied all logic.
"I... I think I just became incredibly powerful!" The one experiencing the most Direct Feeling of this transformation was Satania herself. She looked down at her hands, slowly clenching her small, pink fists. The raw, unadulterated strength coursing through her veins felt absolutely terrifying, yet intoxicatingly real.
"Master!" she wailed joyfully, diving forward to wrap her arms tightly around Ren's thigh. She looked up at him, big tears of gratitude welling in her eyes, resembling nothing more than an overly excited little red puppy. "Thank you so much, Master!"
For as long as she could remember, ascending to the rank of a Great Demon had been her ultimate, unreachable lifelong dream. Now, it had been granted with a single snap of his fingers.
Ren smiled warmly, reaching down to gently ruffle her soft crimson hair. "Satania, you are welcome to live here with me from now on."
Satania blinked, her tail practically wagging. "Really? Is that okay?"
"Hey, Satania, wait a minute!" Vignette stepped forward, her maternal instincts flaring up. She desperately wanted to intervene. In her eyes, Ren was acting exactly like a shady stranger trying to lure a gullible child into a white van with candy.
"Raphiel, Gab, say something quickly! Help me out here!" she pleaded, turning to her angelic companions for support.
But her pleas fell on deaf ears. She found both angels standing frozen, staring blankly toward the hallway entrance.
Frowning, Vignette followed their line of sight. The moment her eyes landed on the approaching figures, her pupils dilated in shock.
Walking toward them were three... angels.
It was Ikaros, Nymph, and Astraea.
The pure, majestic wings extending from their backs were undoubtedly the hallmark of angelic beings. However, the aura radiating from these three women gave the Heaven-born girls an incredibly powerful, yet deeply unsettling feeling. It felt utterly alien. Most glaringly, none of them possessed the holy halos that should have floated above their heads, and their bodies were adorned with strange, futuristic metallic collars and chains.
"Are they actually... angels?" Raphiel murmured, her brow furrowing in deep confusion. Her divine intuition screamed that the three girls were indeed of angelic origin, but the bizarre, artificial nature of their presence simply could not be erased.
"Ren! You promised you would play with us today!" Nymph whined playfully, jogging over to immediately latch onto his left arm.
Astraea, refusing to be outdone by the blue-haired girl, quickly darted over to claim his right arm. She pressed herself tightly against him, deeply enveloping his forearm within the soft, heavy mounds of her impressive pride.
Staring across Ren's torso at Astraea's massive chest, the notoriously flat-chested Nymph felt a vein pop in her forehead. Her face instantly darkened with jealousy. "You stupid cow! Stop trying to tempt Ren!"
"Cow? Where is there a cow?" Astraea blinked blankly. As if suddenly remembering the delicious taste of fresh milk, she began looking left and right, genuinely searching the luxurious hall for a wandering farm animal.
Nymph's lips twitched in sheer exasperation. She slapped a hand over her face. Right. She had completely forgotten that this blonde combat angel was an absolute, irredeemable idiot.
Ikaros, on the other hand, was nowhere near as competitive or boisterous as her two sisters. She walked up quietly, her gentle, emerald gaze solely focused on Ren. The rest of the room faded away; he was the only person reflected in her eyes.
"Wahhhh! Oh no, Master is completely surrounded by angels!" Satania suddenly shrieked, her demonic instincts flaring up at the sight of her natural enemies swarming her new mentor. She began running in tight circles, pulling at her red hair. "What do I do?! What do I do?! I have to save Master from the forces of Heaven!"
Watching the little demon girl panic so dramatically, Ren's lips curled into a thoroughly entertained smirk. A wicked idea sparked in his mind. He was suddenly in the mood for a little role-playing game.
"Oh dear," Ren sighed dramatically, looking down at the girl clinging to his arm. "Nymph, are you three vicious angels planning to kidnap me?"
Hearing this bizarre accusation, Nymph looked up with a thoroughly bewildered expression. She tilted her head, completely failing to grasp the situation.
Ikaros, however, instantly processed Ren's playful intent. Her eyes flashed with quiet understanding. Raising her hand, she manifested a glowing chain of pure light, skillfully wrapping it around Ren, Nymph, and Astraea, binding the three of them together in a faux capture.
"Yes, Master. We are evil angels, and I am going to take you away now," Ikaros stated in her usual flat, melodic voice.
With a gentle tug of the light chain, she easily pulled Ren and the two squabbling angels down the hall and straight into a nearby bedroom. A second later, the heavy oak door clicked shut behind them.
"No! Master has been captured by the evil angels!" Satania gasped, her crimson eyes burning with newfound resolve. She clenched her small fists, puffing out her chest. "Do not fear, Master! I am coming to save you!"
Without a single thought for her own safety, the newly minted Great Demon sprinted headlong down the hallway toward the closed bedroom door.
"Wait, Satania, don't!" Vignette screamed, finally snapping out of her stupor. She lunged forward to grab her friend's skirt, but she was a second too late.
Satania threw the bedroom door open and charged inside. The door slammed shut behind her with a definitive thud.
"Raphiel! Gab! Satania just ran right in there!" Vignette panicked, spinning around to face the two angels.
"Well, if she went in, she went in. Whatever." Gabriel waved her hand dismissively, her lazy eyes already drooping. "Anyway, that guy is her Master now. It is not like he is going to kill her."
Compared to worrying about Satania's ridiculous antics, Gabriel was far more interested in exploiting the magical rules of Ren's manor to conjure up some premium entertainment. A glowing game console materialized in her hands.
"Hehe, score! This is that new limited-edition release I have always wanted!" Gabriel giggled darkly, her gamer instincts taking over. Having secured her prize, she immediately dropped onto a nearby plush sofa, entirely tuning out the rest of the world as she booted up the game.
Raphiel, on the other hand, strolled gracefully over to the closed bedroom door. She placed her delicate palm flat against the solid wood. A pulse of brilliant holy light shone from her fingertips as she attempted to bypass the lock with divine magic.
A moment later, the light fizzled out.
She withdrew her hand, shaking her head with a helpless, albeit slightly amused, sigh. "It will not open. The magical wards on this room are absolute. It seems we can only wait out here until they decide to come out."
"This is... Alright, fine..." Vignette slumped her shoulders, reluctantly giving up after jiggling the locked handle a few times without success. She stared at the wooden barrier, a deep well of worry in her chest. "I just really hope Satania will be alright in there."
She would, of course, be perfectly fine.
Ren was simply in the mood to lock the door, lay back, and thoroughly enjoy the fresh, sweet taste of his naive little demon.
