Chapter 43 - Dream and Reality

Levi's reaction caught Caitlyn completely off guard.

She had assumed that faced with the drawn blade, Levi would dodge. Even if he didn't dodge, he should have used some sort of wind magic to block it.

But to her surprise, he changed his fighting style without any warning.

He stopped being a mage and turned into a berserker!

Without changing his expression, he charged right into the edge of the blade, allowing the steel to tear his skin and slice into his flesh without breaking his stride.

Caitlyn instinctively tried to leap back and evade, but...

"Skull-Splitting Gale!"

A storm instantly blew in from behind her.

While this gust of wind wasn't exactly world-shattering or terrifyingly fierce, it was more than enough to catch Caitlyn off guard and blow her light, delicate figure forward.

"Wh-What?"

Before Caitlyn could even react, she found herself pulled right in front of Levi by that unnatural wind.

They had been several meters apart, but in the blink of an eye, they were face-to-face, fist-to-fist.

What happens when a sniper lets an enemy get into melee range?

"Wind Fist!" Accelerated by the air currents, Levi's fists mercilessly slammed toward Caitlyn at point-blank range.

Caitlyn's physical combat skills were actually quite formidable.

After all, in this world, the power of the mind could truly manifest into physical capability.

As long as your spirit was strong enough and your will firm enough, even a mortal could gain terrifying physical prowess comparable to supernatural creatures through persistent training, struggle, and life-and-death battles.

Therefore, even in close-quarters combat, Caitlyn wasn't necessarily much weaker than Levi in his current state.

But the problem was...

She truly hadn't expected that the key to Levi's full-force "Wind Fist" wasn't actually about enchanting his fists with wind.

Instead, it was about using the wind swirling around his fists to blind the enemy's eyes before the punch even landed.

It was the equivalent of throwing a handful of lime powder into an opponent's eyes before a street fight.

Furthermore, it was completely imperceptible to the audience, who only saw a fierce, domineering technique that maintained an aura of righteous majesty.

"Ah!"

Just as Caitlyn instinctively tried to defend herself, she felt a strong gust of air blast directly into her eyes.

A sharp stinging sensation pierced her eyes, making it impossible to keep them open.

A blinded player getting rushed by a warrior—the outcome was entirely predictable.

"Stay down!"

With a storm-enhanced left hook, Levi sent the Hextech Precision Rifle in Caitlyn's arms flying.

Following up with a heavy, powerful right hook, he mercilessly hammered her to the ground.

He then seamlessly transitioned into a police grappling technique he had learned from television, using his momentum to press his knee into Caitlyn's back. He locked both of her hands behind her, pinning her heavily against the floor.

"Pardon the offense, Miss Caitlyn."

In a mere instant, Miss Caitlyn, who had previously displayed such fierce combat skills, fell to Levi's "Wind Fist".

Moreover, she was firmly locked beneath him by his grappling technique, completely unable to move.

"Miss Caitlyn!"

The Enforcers watched, their eyes practically splitting open in fury and panic.

Forgetting their fear of Levi, they instinctively tried to step forward to rescue her.

But Levi stopped them dead in their tracks with a single sentence: "Nobody move—or I'll kill her right now!"

The Enforcers' faces turned green, and they immediately lowered their guns.

As for Levi, although he had been injured in the brief skirmish, his fierce and domineering display made him appear even more powerful, terrifying, and unfathomable.

Especially when everyone noticed that the hideous, torn wound on Levi's arm was slowly healing at a visible rate... their awe and worship for the strong only grew more intense.

Just like that, the situation was completely under Levi's control.

The Enforcers were all terrified of him.

Only Caitlyn was not:

"Mr. Levi, please do not compound your mistakes!"

Even though she was firmly pinned to the ground by Levi, Caitlyn stubbornly turned her face to the side, trying to look at him as she spoke.

"Although Piltover strives for peace, it is not a place where any random mage can just come and do whatever they please. If you insist on assaulting an officer and fleeing, the only thing waiting for you will be a stronger, more lethal pursuit team!"

"I advise you to stop while you can and cooperate with our investigation."

"I promise—we will uncover the truth and give you justice!"

"The truth?" Levi couldn't help but scoff. "Miss Caitlyn, you still suspect that what I'm saying isn't the truth, don't you?"

Caitlyn remained silent.

But her stubborn expression already said it all.

"Fine." Levi stopped mocking her.

He simply asked Caitlyn out of curiosity, "When you came here, how did your superiors describe me to you?"

"Violent assault resulting in severe injury, blatant robbery of property, and possession of contraband," Caitlyn replied.

These were all true; her superiors hadn't lied to them at all.

"Then did your superiors tell you why I beat up that fat guy?"

They hadn't. At least, Caitlyn didn't know yet.

"Because that fat guy is a gang boss! If I didn't beat him up, that bastard was going to kidnap me and sell me as a gigolo!" Levi said with a cold face, helping this privileged young lady recognize reality.

"And you Piltover Enforcers didn't show up when the Zaunite gang was trying to kidnap me, but you conveniently appeared right after I fought back—and you didn't come to investigate a case, you came to murder me!"

Saying this, Levi cast a cold glance at the young Enforcer whose gun had "misfired."

"I... I didn't," the young Enforcer stammered, so terrified he was on the verge of tears.

But he still stubbornly refused to admit it, too afraid to confess.

"Perhaps it really was just an accident. Perhaps not." Caitlyn's attitude remained rigid. "Before the truth is investigated, no one can easily jump to conclusions."

"If the truth is really as you say, then I absolutely will not let those guilty individuals escape the punishment of the law."

"Good!" Levi laughed. "Since you still believe so strongly in your Piltover laws, I'll give you the truth right now!"

Saying this, he turned his head to look at the young Enforcer.

"Mr. Enforcer, I will ask you one last time—did your gun misfire out of nervousness, or did someone order you to do it? If someone ordered you, who was it?"

"I want you to say it yourself, out loud for everyone to hear!"

"Speak, and you might still live. If you don't... heh."

Levi didn't utter any more vicious threats. He simply opened his palm slowly and chanted loudly toward the sky:

"Fierce winds, heed my command!"

His aura was incredibly majestic. Yet, what he summoned was merely a gentle breeze.

That's right, just a gentle breeze with very little force.

Levi's divine power was currently limited. Every time he used a spell, he had to make a trade-off between the spell's intensity and its scale.

It was like having a fixed amount of dough—you could either make a fist-sized steamed bun or roll it out into a basin-sized pancake.

The wind wall he used earlier was the steamed bun, and the gentle breeze blowing now was the pancake.

Although this breeze had very little force...

Its area of effect was massive!

In an instant, Lina, Caitlyn, Viktor, Seraphine, the students, the Enforcers... everyone present could clearly feel it—

The sky seemed to have changed.

Air currents slowly drifted through the windows, brushed past their cheeks, and swirled around the classroom.

Fallen leaves, dry twigs, sheets of paper... everything light enough to float began to dance in the wind.

The invisible wind thus became visible. Countless leaves danced, gathered, and spiraled with the wind, ultimately manifesting into a winding, majestic Eastern divine dragon.

This divine wind dragon occupied almost the entire classroom. It soared above everyone's heads, slowly coiling around Levi. It seemed as though some terrifying and dreadful power was slowly gathering and brewing under his control... ready to erupt at any moment!

A storm seemed imminent.

Standing in the center of this storm, everyone felt their own insignificance.

The Enforcers, in particular, were scared witless.

In truth, any professional mage who walked in would be able to tell at a glance that this divine wind dragon Levi summoned was nothing more than a flashy illusion with no real substance.

Rather than a combat skill, it was more like an entertaining parlor trick.

But to these ordinary people who rarely had the chance to interact with mages, Levi's move truly looked as if it was shaking the heavens and earth, changing the color of the wind and clouds!

Never mind the Enforcers; the Zaunite students' confidence in Levi and their faith in the revolutionary cause were also skyrocketing.

In an instant, a few more previously hesitant students developed a belief in Janna Thought. Although it wasn't unwavering yet, it was at least a source of power.

"I said, this is your last chance," Levi issued his final ultimatum.

"I'll talk! I'll talk right now!" the young Enforcer cried, falling to his knees.

The unwavering stubbornness in Caitlyn's eyes finally broke.

She, who had always dreamed of becoming an Enforcer, finally saw the difference between dream and reality:

"It was Sheriff Marcus—"

"The Sheriff personally ordered me to take you out while I had the chance!"
