Chapter 13: Medical Knowledge
This time was different, however. They had come to meet Orochimaru, not for leisure.
Because of that, Tsunade paced back and forth in front of the entrance to her beloved casino several times before finally turning away, her expression heavy with lingering regret.
Yumesaki spoke up, breaking the silence. "Where exactly should we start looking for Orochimaru?"
Tsunade finally tore her gaze away from the casino and replied calmly, "There's no need for us to search. They'll come find us on their own. For now, let's find a place to rest."
Shizune nodded in agreement and began leading Yumesaki and Tsunade through the area with practiced ease.
It was clear she was incredibly familiar with these streets. Along the way, she kept pointing things out to Yumesaki—which restaurants served the best food, which ones were mediocre, who provided excellent service, and who was best avoided.
Watching Shizune chatter away without pause, Yumesaki couldn't help but reach out and pat her shoulder. "Thanks for all your hard work," he said softly.
At those words, Shizune looked so moved that she seemed on the verge of tears.
"Oh, no! Please, don't say that. It's not a burden at all—this is exactly what I should be doing," Shizune insisted, blinking back tears while tightly clutching the little pig in her arms.
Yumesaki instinctively shot a glance toward Tsunade, his eyes practically saying: Look at what you've done, stressing this poor girl out to this extent.
The fact that Shizune knew this place like the back of her hand was ninety percent the fault of a certain "Big-Breasted Scapegoat" with blonde hair.
Tsunade let out a very awkward, strained laugh and quickly looked away, putting on an expression that screamed she had absolutely nothing to do with it.
Before long, the three of them found a small eatery and reserved a private room.
But they had barely even warmed their seats when a sharp knock, knock, knock sounded at the door.
Shizune stood up to open it. Kabuto stepped inside, followed by a man wearing a traditional bamboo jingasa hat.
Tsunade's eyes narrowed as she scanned the man in the hat. "If you're already here, take that thing off," she said with a look of pure disgust. "It's hideous, Orochimaru."
The man reached up and removed the hat, revealing a chillingly familiar face.
Long black hair, golden pupils with vertical slits like a snake's, and purple eye markings that extended down to the bridge of his nose. His skin was deathly pale, and he wore blue-green earrings shaped like magatama.
It was, beyond a shadow of a doubt, Orochimaru.
"You're just the same as ever, Tsunade."
Orochimaru gave a thin, serpent-like smile. He tossed his hat onto a nearby rack and slowly sat down across from Tsunade, though his gaze immediately drifted toward Yumesaki.
Yumesaki felt those golden snake-eyes scanning him up and down. He couldn't help but click his tongue in annoyance. "What are you looking at?"
Orochimaru's smile widened slightly as he uttered a shocking sentence. "I was just curious to see what someone from another world looks like. Now that I'm seeing you, it seems you aren't all that different from the people of our Shinobi World."
Someone from another world?
Kabuto stared at Orochimaru in shock, hardly able to believe his ears.
This man named Yumesaki... was actually an otherworldly being?
He quickly glanced at Tsunade and Shizune, only to find that neither of them looked surprised. It was as if they had known this all along.
As it turned out, he was the only one kept in the dark.
"I should have expected as much from Orochimaru. You actually figured it out," Tsunade remarked coolly.
"To be precise, you were the one who told me," Orochimaru replied, pulling out the sealing scroll that had been delivered to him via Kabuto.
Yumesaki asked with genuine curiosity, "What exactly is inside that thing?"
"Just some medical knowledge," Tsunade answered simply.
Orochimaru added, "More specifically, it is medical knowledge the likes of which I have never seen before. This isn't just a collection of scattered notes."
"Furthermore, it is an incredibly comprehensive system with clear stages of development and a mature structure."
"Through these records, I can see a vast, interconnected field."
"It covers cloning, pharmacology, chemistry, internal medicine, surgery, gastroenterology, pediatrics, gynecology, and more. It encompasses nearly every aspect of the medical arts."
"It is quite impossible for this to be the work of Tsunade alone."
At this point, Orochimaru flicked a glance at Tsunade, his tongue darting out briefly. "I have great confidence in Tsunade and I admire her medical expertise, but even she couldn't have created a medical system this expansive."
"Because it is too vast. Too thorough."
"This isn't something produced by a single person. It is knowledge synthesized by countless individuals over generations. It would require years upon years and hundreds of thousands—if not millions or tens of millions—of clinical cases to reach these conclusions."
"Therefore, the moment I saw this information, I estimated that it did not originate from the Shinobi World."
Orochimaru continued calmly, "I understand this world too well. The number of Medical Ninja is far too few. How could they have possibly built a medical system this perfect?"
"More importantly... this medical knowledge does not mention Chakra a single time."
"Not once."
"If this system had been built by shinobi, it would be impossible not to mention Chakra. And yet, in this entire mature system, Chakra is nowhere to be found."
"So, I became certain. This is not knowledge from this world, but from another."
"And when I learned from Kabuto that a strange man had suddenly appeared by Tsunade's side upon her return to Konoha, I realized that this man was the key to everything."
As he spoke, Orochimaru's gaze toward Yumesaki became filled with a burning, feverish intensity. "I am correct, am I not, Mr. Kazuma Yumesaki?"
Yumesaki didn't answer Orochimaru directly. Instead, he looked at Tsunade. "You actually gave medical knowledge to Orochimaru? I thought you were going to give him Naruto."
Tsunade replied, "Without your permission, how could I possibly do such a thing?"
Hearing this, Orochimaru's eyes flickered. He chuckled softly. "I thought you were friends, but it seems your position is actually above Tsunade's."
"Would you mind telling me... who exactly are you?"
Orochimaru had never felt this curious. A living human from another world—he desperately wanted to see the differences between an outsider and a denizen of the Shinobi World.
Yumesaki felt Orochimaru's gaze was so intense it felt like the man wanted to dissect him right there. He couldn't help but complain, "Could you dial back that look? It's a bit disgusting."
"My apologies for my rudeness."
Orochimaru didn't get angry. He still had many questions that required Yumesaki's answers, so maintaining politeness was only logical.
Yumesaki spoke up. "It's exactly as you suspect. I'm not from the Shinobi World. To be precise, I am someone who can travel across many worlds."
Orochimaru's eyes instantly lit up. "Many worlds... then you have visited more than just one?"
Yumesaki nodded. "So far, only three. But in the future, who knows? It could be thirty, or maybe three hundred."
Orochimaru suppressed the shock in his heart and spoke slowly, "This is truly beyond my expectations."
He had initially thought the man was from a single other world, but who would have guessed that he had an entire multiverse behind him?
If he hadn't seen that medical knowledge with his own eyes, Orochimaru would never have believed any of this.
