Chapter 11: I Don't Mind
In the original timeline, Orochimaru had committed countless atrocities in his relentless pursuit of immortality.
Because of that, Yumesaki knew that as long as he was willing to offer Orochimaru a chance at eternal life, the man would surely have no qualms about working for him.
With that thought in mind, Yumesaki didn't voice any objections.
Seeing his silent approval, Tsunade felt a wave of relief wash over her. She continued, "Actually, my reason for wanting Orochimaru to join us isn't just for human experimentation. I also want to research Devil Fruits with him."
"Earlier, while I was examining Robin's body, I realized just how miraculous the power of a Devil Fruit truly is."
"I want to collaborate with Orochimaru to study them. Who knows? We might actually be able to replicate them, just like Vegapunk did."
Hearing this, Robin felt a stir deep in her heart. She had just finished reading the manga and was well aware of the genius possessed by Tsunade and Orochimaru.
While they might not be as all-encompassing as Vegapunk, when it came to biological research and the human body, they were likely on par with him.
If those two truly succeeded in replicating Devil Fruits, she could contact the Revolutionary Army. They could potentially turn every single member of the Revolution into a Devil Fruit user.
If the Revolutionary Army truly held a legion of ability users in their hands, toppling the World Government wouldn't just be a dream—it would be a certainty.
No matter how powerful Imu-sama was, they might be able to handle a hundred ability users. But could they face a thousand? Ten thousand? Or even a hundred thousand?
And what of the Five Elders? How many divisions could they possibly hold against such a force?
Robin made her decision instantly. She had to be involved in this project; that was the only way to ensure she could share the research results.
No, wait... maybe I have a better way.
An idea suddenly flashed through Robin's mind. She spoke up, "If you want to study Devil Fruit abilities, I actually have some excellent candidates in mind."
Tsunade turned to look at her.
"What do you think about the ability users within the Revolutionary Army?" Nico Robin suggested.
Tsunade's eyes flickered with interest. "That's a great idea."
The Revolutionary Army wasn't like the World Government; there was actually a foundation for cooperation there. More importantly, they had quite a few powerful ability users.
There was Emporio Ivankov, the Commander of the G Line, who possessed the Horu Horu no Mi (Horm-Horm Fruit).
Inazuma, the Deputy Commander of the G Line, user of the Choki Choki no Mi (Scissors-Scissors Fruit).
Belo Betty, the East Army Commander, with the Kobu Kobu no Mi (Pump-Pump Fruit).
Morley, the West Army Commander—not only a Giant but also the user of the Oshi Oshi no Mi (Push-Push Fruit).
Karasu, the North Army Commander, a Logia user of the Susu Susu no Mi (Soot-Soot Fruit).
And then there was their leader, Monkey D. Dragon. He was also an ability user.
Judging from the manga, Dragon's powers could summon massive storms, leading many to suspect he was a Logia user. However, as the "version updates" of the world progressed, everyone realized that Mythical Zoans were the true "meta" of this era.
The Five Elders were all Mythical Zoans.
The Holy Knights also boasted many Mythical Zoans.
It was highly probable that Dragon was a Mythical Zoan as well—perhaps even something on the level of a Ryu Ryu no Mi (Dragon-Dragon Fruit).
If they could study those abilities, it would be an immense boost to their goal of replicating Devil Fruits.
Furthermore, the Revolutionary Army regarded Nico Robin as the "Light of the Revolution." If she were the one to bridge the gap, there was a genuine chance of forming an alliance.
After considering this, both women turned their gaze toward Yumesaki simultaneously.
Whether they could cooperate—and how they would do it—depended entirely on Yumesaki's will.
After all, Yumesaki was the one who held the ultimate "right of interpretation" for everything. Without his help, forget cooperation; they wouldn't even have the chance to meet.
Noticing their expectant stares, Yumesaki leaned back, letting the sofa take his full weight. "You guys can decide that for yourselves. I don't mind. To be honest, I'm not really interested in all the fighting and killing."
"What I want is very simple: to travel to places I've never seen and eat delicious food I've never tasted."
"Of course, if I can pick up some supernatural powers along the way, I wouldn't complain. But as for the war and the killing... you guys just decide what to do."
"When you need my help, just say the word. I won't refuse."
Tsunade and Robin exchanged a look, a hint of excitement visible in their eyes.
As long as Yumesaki didn't object, their plan was already halfway to success.
Robin stood up immediately. "I'll head back now to contact the Revolutionary Army. I also still have to deal with Crocodile's side of things; I can't be gone for too long, or he'll get suspicious."
Currently, she was still Crocodile's subordinate. If she vanished for an extended period, it would easily trigger his distrust. Until she mastered Chakra, learned Ninjutsu, and grew powerful enough to surpass him, she needed to keep up her undercover work.
"Alright."
Tsunade didn't try to stop her. She said bluntly, "I'm going to meet with Orochimaru soon. Once we've put together a perfect plan, we'll let you know."
Robin nodded, then gave Yumesaki a deep, meaningful look.
"I'm counting on you, Mr. Yumesaki."
Yumesaki stood up and walked over to a sliding door. He pushed it open, revealing Robin's room on the other side.
Robin stepped through with her long legs. As she passed Yumesaki, she gave him a faint, playful smile. "The next time we meet, I'll have a surprise for you, Mr. Yumesaki. Please look forward to it."
Hearing that, Yumesaki felt a sudden spark of anticipation.
"Alright, I'll be waiting. Don't let me down."
Robin's smile widened slightly. "I wouldn't dream of it."
With that, Yumesaki closed the heavy door, severing the connection between the two worlds.
Yumesaki turned back to Tsunade, asking curiously, "What do you think Nico Robin meant by a surprise?"
Tsunade shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe gold, maybe some rare delicacy... or maybe even a Devil Fruit. She's the number two of Baroque Works right now; she has all their resources at her fingertips."
"Getting her hands on a Devil Fruit probably isn't that hard for her."
Yumesaki thought that made sense. A Devil Fruit might be priceless to an ordinary person, but for someone in Robin's position—especially within an organization like Baroque Works that already had several ability users—it wasn't impossible.
"If it's possible, I actually hope she brings a really strong one."
"That depends on luck," Tsunade remarked. "Common Devil Fruits are easy enough to find, but the powerful ones are rare."
"True enough."
Creak...
Just then, the front door of Tsunade's house was pushed open.
A moment later, Shizune's voice echoed through the hall. "Lady Tsunade, I've brought the person you were looking for."
Yumesaki and Tsunade looked toward the entrance at the same time.
Shizune walked in with light steps. Following closely behind her was a young man with white hair and glasses. He had a gentle, friendly face.
It was none other than Kabuto Yakushi.
