One frightened wolf warrior rushed through the stone corridors without stopping, his breathing rough from running. He didn't even bother greeting the guards standing outside the council cave before pushing the heavy doors open.
"My Lords!"
His voice echoed throughout the enormous hall.
Every conversation stopped immediately. Zenobius raised his head from where he was sitting, while the other Lords turned toward the trembling warrior. Even Min Gui, who had been silently drinking his wine at the end of the crystal table, lifted his eyes.
"What happened?" Zenobius asked.
The warrior swallowed hard before kneeling. "It's... it's the White Witches. They've all fallen ill."
Silence filled the hall.
Soraya, who had been sitting quietly beside one of the crystal pillars, looked up.
