The next morning, CeCe woke up feeling strangely uncomfortable. She frowned before even opening her eyes. Something didn't feel right. The room was unusually quiet, but she could hear someone breathing heavily.
At first, she thought she was dreaming, but the rough breathing became louder. She slowly opened her eyes and turned her head.
The moment she saw Damon, her sleep disappeared completely.
He was sitting on the edge of the large bed with his back facing her. His shoulders rose and fell heavily with every breath, and sweat covered his neck and back.
His hands were tightly gripping the edge of the bed as though he was trying to stop himself from doing something. Even more surprising, his wolf eyes had already turned completely golden.
CeCe immediately sat up."Damon?"
He didn't answer right away. Instead, he took another deep breath before speaking through clenched teeth. "You're awake."
His voice sounded hoarse."You should go now."
