Chapter 3 - First Time Going Out

Once again, Noah had now grown up, and since the last incident, this time he was now at the age of three, which was actually a big deal in this world. The way it was so important, it was almost like a ceremonial thing that a child had to complete before stepping out into the world as a young adult, but apart from all that, in this world, it was about magic.

Ever since he discovered that he was reincarnated in a world where magic was a norm and possibility—from the first time he saw his mother perform that mysterious magic chant before he could even utter full normal sentences—he'd been nagging his mother and aunt nonstop to teach him magic.

At first, they didn't give in just like that. It took time and some serious convincing to let them know and believe that he was ready to learn magic, especially when it came to his mother. She wasn't skeptical about it; it was more like she was fearful.

After some time and months trying to make them be on his side, it took him another six more months, which meant he began learning magic at the early age of one. As much as that may sound impressive, the truth was he really didn't learn any magic.

His mother was trying by any means necessary not to allow her son to learn magic taught by other people, from maids and servants. It seemed like she was being selfish for not doing so already. Noah, though he didn't do any magic just yet, showed very impressive skills and signs of being smart.

So Andrea would read him chants and spell incantations from every possible book that she could find, and she didn't want anyone else to dare teach her son any sort of magic—not even her sister.

Since then, things had really changed. Maybe it was the fear of a mother thinking that already her son had been hurt once, so she started paying attention to the smallest details of everything that Noah did, which meant that he couldn't have done any of his mischievous misadventures.

Not that that was the problem anymore with Noah, because he had promised himself that he wouldn't ever do such things again. To show how serious he was, he even used that as his trump card, but even when it failed, he'd still keep that promise.

Instead of being taught any magic, Andrea now slept with Noah in her room as a way for her to make sure that no one went behind her back and taught him magic. Though she knew and trusted that her maids and servants would never betray her, the person she was on guard against most of the time was Valerie. She really believed that Valerie was hell-bent on teaching him.

So from that moment on, Andrea read every single spell that she could find and believed was easy enough to be understood by a one-year-old. She also knew that her son was smart, but she didn't think that he could be that smart to the point that he understood every single word.

That was their daily routine, and after reading each spell, most of the time it would be natural for a child to go to sleep after that. But when it came to this, it was actually the opposite: Andrea was the one who would sleep first, leaving Noah wide awake.

He too didn't think that he could be that smart to decipher the spells and incantations until one night, his mother had just read him an incantation book.

After being bored and unable to sleep, Noah crawled out of bed, sneaked over to his mother's side, took the book, and tried to read it.

At first, it proved to be hard. Even though he had a year to familiarize himself with the language and he understood it and he could speak it, it was still a challenge for him to understand and read the texts.

So for the next couple of nights—because that's the only time that he'd get the chance of actually reading them—he struggled and had problems, but after a week, he could read, and after two weeks, he could both read and understand better.

And that was his whole life now. He had read and recited each spell and incantation book that his mother had read him; by now, he knew them by heart.

But throughout his years of secretly learning and studying the incantations and spells, not even once had he thought about trying to make one for himself.

And after a year and a half, his mother finally came around and allowed him to learn magic, and he was taught by different kinds of people—from his aunt, servants, to even the old pervy man, Rudolph Timer—and all of them came up with the same conclusion:

Noah couldn't do any of the magic they taught him.

Now, skip to three years, which is actually now.

Andrea was sitting in the dining hall along with Valerie and Rudolph.

"Do you think it's possible that Noah might not be talented at magic?" Valerie asked the one question that plagued everyone's mind.

"Is it even possible for one not to have any magic?" Andrea avoided looking at everyone.

Rudolph sighed lowly. "I didn't want to tell you this just yet, but I don't feel even the slightest trace of magic in him, which is impossible because everything both living and non-living releases some kind of energy, but when it comes to him, there's nothing."

"What are you trying to say to us?" Valerie looked at Rudolph.

Rudolph wasn't afraid to look at them and even give it to them straight.

"What I'm saying to you is that Noah is a non-magic child." He said so coldly and honestly.

But Andrea, on the other hand, couldn't accept that. She just stood up and stood for her son.

"If you are not sure and if what you're saying is just a theory, how about we take him to the oracle? She's the only person who can give us confirmation."

"But you know you are at risk. If we go to the oracle, she might actually discover who you really are, so no, we are not going to put you at risk." Valerie was against it.

"But—" Andrea tried to make her understand.

"She's right, Andrea. Don't forget your past and history, and not just with this kingdom alone but the seven kingdoms. And don't forget the last time, what you did and what kind of devastation you actually caused."

Andrea stopped and took it all in for a moment, and from both their looks, she could tell right away that maybe she was way over her head.

She looked down, took a deep breath, and sat down, feeling so useless.

The room got quiet and awkward for a while, then Noah walked in.

"Mom, is everything okay?" He was carrying one of the books.

"Hey, baby, don't worry, mommy's okay. Come here." She opened her arms and picked him up.

Noah sat on her lap, realizing the tension that was all over.

"What's that book that you have right now?" Andrea opened the book.

"It's one of the books. Since I can't do any magic from any books, I thought that maybe this one might be my magic." Noah said, his voice full of pain.

The book he was carrying and trying to read was an earth book, and not any type of earth book—it was one of the lowest and easiest ones that anyone could ever possess.

After she heard what her son had just said to her, Andrea couldn't help but feel her heart break into a million pieces. Then she looked at both Valerie and Rudolph, who both avoided looking at either of them.

She got up with Noah still in her arms.

"I don't care whether the oracle or anyone discovers who I truly am. We are taking my son to the oracle, and that's final." She put her foot down.

Both of them now realized that there wasn't much that they could do or say at this point, so they just gave in.

"Fine, but we will take the gate to avoid any problems along the way." Rudolph stood up and took his staff.

He was an old man that had pure snow-white long hair and a beard which was tied into a knot. He wore a grey garment, his eyes were green, and for someone who was a hundred and ten, he looked like he was still in his early seventies. In other words, he fit the description of being a wizard perfectly.

He walked to Andrea and Noah along with Valerie.

"Are you ready for a road trip, kid?" He stood next to them.

Noah nodded, and a second later, Rudolph hit the floor with his staff three times, and a magical green portal door—which is actually known as a gate—appeared and swallowed them.

Within seconds, they appeared outside a building that looked like a local clinic, and they walked right in.

Inside, there were different patients sitting and waiting. For the first time in his life, Noah actually got a chance to see various species, which actually now confirmed that he was indeed reincarnated in a fantasy world.

He couldn't help himself but stare at each and every single species he saw, from a man that looked like a lizard, a fish person, a dwarf, an elf, to a fairy, amongst many.

Whoa, now this is awesome. I've truly been reincarnated into a fantasy world. He thought to himself.

One of the patients stared at him blankly like he could hear Noah's thoughts, which was the lizard person.

Just as they were waiting, someone walked out of the office.

"Took you lot a long time. I almost forgot my vision. Now, if you don't mind, please follow me." She asked them politely.

And they did exactly that; they followed her to the office.

Once they all got inside, the doctor turned around.

"Now, let's get this over and done with." She turned her attention to Noah.
